TheBlush.com recently toured the US hosting parties at Sephora stores in Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York City. At each event, they featured a blogger challenge in which top beauty bloggers to pick their 5 beauty must-haves for winter in five minutes with only a $100 budget. Well, I won New York City so one lucky winner gets to win my favorite product from the list (and mostly likely the reason I won — I picked the best blush!), NARS blush in shade Sin.

The third floor of Center 548 could have been mistaken for the dressing rooms of a major theatrical production… or maybe that’s exactly what it was. On one side of an intensely long arrangement of tables was the Bumble and Bumble hair station where fine tooth combs went up and down in harmony building levels of volume that would make Marie Antoinette heights look tame. Across the row, faces were going pale, pretty much porcelain, by an army of MAC make up artists being lead by Sil Bruinsma. Sil took a minute to explain how the look came about for Thom Browne‘s regal collection and the basis was fantasy.

Addicted to Red – PC Top 10 Favorite Reds Lip Colors!

My obsession with red lips started last year, and since then my love of the color has only grown stronger.  As I told Beauty High in a recent feature, “a good red lipstick fixes everything – especially if there’s a camera involved.”

Back in the day my red options were limited — Dragon Girl from Nars was about the only shade I could find that worked for me. Now with so many different types and shade ranges (from orange-red to deep reds to bright reds to pinkish reds…)., I’ve been experimenting like a mad woman.  (I’ve became a little obsessed!)  Having tried what feels like every red lip color I could get my hands on in the past 4 months, I have narrowed it down to 10 favorites!

Love, Love, Love: PC Valentine’s Day Picks

Inspired by “The Winter You Froze Away” this show couldn’t have happened on a more fitting day.  Nemo was about to coat the streets of NYC while Color Club Nails, led by Simcha Whitehill aka Miss Pop, was coating the nails of the models for the Katie Gallagher show.  She started with a pointed nail (the freshest trend in nail shape that all the stars are rocking lately) then dotted the models nails with colors: Dove Grey (custom), Where’s the Soiree, Muse-ical, and Zodiac,  creating the stormiest nails

Timo Weiland didn’t miss a detail in their Fall 2013 look. It started backstage where MAC artist Chantel Miller was priming skin to give it a soft sheen while being careful to not over do it, as the make up looks were inspired by “feminine tomboys”. Hair had a bit of volume and some subtle waves, a kind of careless texture that you would covet from the girl who doesn’t fuss too much courtesy of L’Oreal Professional stylist Joesph DiMaggio. Let me start by saying that I’m a HUGE Tina Turnbrow fan, and yet I’ve never had the pleasure of meeting her. So when  I found out she was the celebrity makeup artist leading the Fall 2013 Nicholas K show on behalf of NYX Cosmetics I was all in!

When asking Tina about the look she said, “it’s very arctic/nomadic princess, kind of cold. The eyes are strong, the lips and the skin is very pale. There’s no mascara, the look is more on the raw side. We’re contouring the face to give a little sharpness and tougher feel.” Watching Tina Turnbrow work is a pleasure, the detail she puts into blending and creating those eyes was a work of art.
