On October 22nd (tomorrow!), join Teen Vogue online for their annual TEEN VOGUE Fashion University, which serves as an educational program where the business of fashion is taught by its leaders. Hosted live from New York City, this exclusive event provides 500 young women who aspire to a career in the fashion industry the opportunity to learn from top designers, editors and fashion entrepreneurs, including Michael Kors, Alexander Wang, Jason Wu, Peter Som, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler, and TEEN VOGUE’s EIC Amy Astley, among others.
This year, anyone not local can experience Fashion U. online! Viewers will have the opportunity to watch the top six seminars from the October 22nd curriculum as they happen live from the Hudson Theater, and they can be viewed on demand whenever, wherever after the live event. As someone who went to ‘Fashion College‘ — I went to the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), this type of exposure is huge! At best we’d get one honorary speaker during the semester, with Teen Vogue it’s a back to back line-up of industry favorites. Personally, I can’t wait for Jack and Lazaro from Proenza Schouler –I’m obsessed with them. It wasn’t until last year during fashion week when I got to meet and hear the duo speak of which I’m still inspired by.

One of America’s most prominent designers kicks off Fashion U. with a welcome address to share his journey inspire the new generation of fashion royalty.
- ALEXANDER WANG: THE STREET KING, 11:05AM
As a frontrunner in the fashion industry, Alexander Wang designs both womenswear and menswear collections that epitomize the ‘model-off-duty style’ with the perfect combination of grunge and simplicity. Wang will discuss the inspiration behind his edgy collection and how he established himself in an industry that is constantly evolving.
- PROENZA SCHOULER: THE DYNAMIC DUO, 12:25PM
Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler will discuss how, by finding an independent path and a singular point of view, they have managed to climb to the top of the international fashion scene.
- PETER SOM: THE ECLECTIC, 2:35PM
Along with designing his award-winning signature collections, Peter Som designs Tommy Hilfiger’s elegant runway line and accessories. Som will discuss how he maintains a balance between functionality and elegance throughout his collections.
- JASON WU: THE CHOSEN ONE, 3:55PM
Jason Wu, known best for the white chiffon gown he designed for Michelle Obama to wear at the Inaugural Gala in 2009, focuses on designing beautifully crafted pieces to compliment the female form. Wu discusses how he finds inspiration in elements from the past and present to define his design aesthetic.
