Going for the Rose Gold with Kevin Murphy

I’m so obsessed with Kevin Murphy!!!!! I’ve admired his products for so long but getting the opportunity to spend the afternoon with him took my admiration to the next level. What an absolutely delightful person, who completely lived up to his hype. After months of struggling with my hair color — I loved being blonde but the colorists I was working with a few months back kept giving me weird highlights at the root and the intense black root to blonde highlight was not working for me at all. Expecting full well to walk into my color appointment with Kevin and ask for an ombre or some way of fixing the disaster that was my hair, he alongside his amazing Director of Color, Kate Reid had something else in mind: rose gold.

So in an unexpected turn of events, I got rose gold hair, with these beautiful highlights that gave my color and hair so much dimension.  I am obsessed! Kevin Murphy has such unique colors and vision, and this was the perfect tone for me. I love how they worked with me to create a custom color that worked for my skintone. Kevin Murphy also launched 5 new products for spring, four of which are available now with another launching in April. See below for details!

By Terry Spring 2017 Techno Aura Collection

I’m really feeling cream highlighters at the moment. Whether it be to create a glowing, radiant complexion or do an obnoxious strobe of light in my cheekbone, I’m all in. I was recently at Space.NK for the launch of their exclusive By Terry limited edition Techno Aura collection. Featuring the Glow-Expert Duo Stick in 3 shades, 2 limited edition Gloss Terrybly Shine (aka lip glosses), and an exclusive new Eye Designer Palette Parti-Pris in No3 Techno Aura, it’s a memorable collection with the Glow-Expert Duo Sticks being my highlight (pun intended).

Me time, yogurt and Aveeno

Having grandparents that were born in Greece, the benefits of yogurt are not lost on me. In my family though the do it all fixer wasn’t Windex, but in fact yogurt. Growing up I had really sensitive skin and was allergic to red dyes. Every now and then I would get flare ups and yogurt would always calm it down. It helped relieve the insatiable itch and dry skin. Yogurt is filled with nourishing and healing nutrients as well as lactic acid, which is a popular AHA that helps dissolve dead skin and tighten pores, and often see it in DIY face mask and skincare recipes.

Aveeno, known for their Active Naturals ingredients which harness the power and calming properties of oatmeal has blended this with the nourishing ingredients found in yogurt to launch the new Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Body Yogurt ($7.99) and Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Yogurt Body Wash ($7.49).  Available in two delicious scents, Apricot & Honey and Vanilla & Oat the Body Yogurts and Wash feature their new ACTIVBIND Complex. This makes up the body yogurt formula, which maintains all day contact with skin for long-lasting moisture and contains essential vitamins, lactose, proteins, lactic acid and lipids found in yogurt.

Jumping for joy

I am so excited! I woke up to a tweet yesterday that I was featured in “The Best Makeup and Beauty Blogs That You Need to be Following” by Total Beauty as one of six bloggers! I work my a$$ off everyday swatching, trying, going to events looking for the latest and greatest. Meeting so many of the pioneers and founders of makeup brands that to have that recognized, means a lot to me. I started my site 9 years ago and the changes I’ve seen — my site is older than twitter, snapchat and Instagram, if that helps put things in perspective. If you’re a beauty enthusiast, you should vote in Total Beauty’s 8th Annual Readers’ Choice Awards. You get entered to win prizes and most importantly help them pick the winners!

Anyways, it’s Friday, and after a very long, epic, Fashion Week (recap coming soon!),  I’m so looking forward to a weekend in sweats and to play with all these new products I just got.  This was one of my outfits from Fashion Week, I wore Eliza J almost non-stop. How cute is the jumpsuit with this velvet backpack? I picked up the bag at the Six:02 store, which is my favorite place to shop for workout gear. They just opened their second location in Times Square last week and if you’re going through an athleisure phase, or just like really hot workout clothes — the Ive Park, Fenty Puma… this is the spot. They also have a website, which I’ve been shopping on before they opened their stores (I’m like their super fan).

Pillow Talk

If there are two pillows in this world I feel like you should know about it’s the M Cushion Shiatsu by Jay Godfrey and Night Pillow. One is a massager that effortlessly blends in with your accent pillows thanks to their exclusive designs by designer Jay Godfrey. And the other is a memory foam pillow that offers the ultimate support and comfort on your spine and neck and multiple hair and skincare benefits because of it’s silk cover. More below on what makes these my current must haves!

I can not believe tomorrow is Valentine’s Day!!!! Do you have anything special planned? I feel like the big new buzz word is Galentine, encouraging all the single ladies to get together and do parties which while I’m all about girl power and celebrating your love for your gal pals, there really is no substitute (although besties come close!) for finding a partner in life. I can tell you that as one of the most independent people on the planet, so much of my world would be lost if I couldn’t share it with James and there would be a void without his support. I know the dating scene is hard but with online dating it’s never been more convenient. Although I was shocked to learn that over half a million singles register with EliteSingles every month! Wowza! Are there any relationships left besides mine?

Sutton Foster & the Amopé’s Insert Truck

Tuesday was a dream, hello the moment I hugged Joe Biden! But before that epic moment, I got to hang out with Sutton Foster (confession, I’m obsessed with Younger), for the launch of Amopé’s new GelActiv Insoles & Inserts. You may know Amope from their at home manicure and pedicure products ranging an Electric Foot File to moisturizers to keep your hands and toes on point. Now with their new GelActiv Insoles & Inserts it takes everything next level making virtually every shoe — flat to heels, open toe to closed up their comfort game and add extra support. And with fashion week here, I want them all!

Gilt x Livelihood Launch with Joe Biden

Considering the current state of affairs to say I needed a Joe Biden hug was an understatement. Last night, the former VP came out to support his daughter, Ashley Biden for the launch of Livelihood, a socially and ethically conscious apparel company which is partnering with Gilt today to sell a collection of hoodies with 100% of the net proceeds donated to Livelihood’s community development initiatives.

BITE Everyday Agave Lip Collection

I’m a huge fan of BITE Beauty fan, although I have to admit I was late to the game with the Agave Lip Mask, which was one the brands long time best sellers. So much so they recently expanded the line to include a new Agave Sugar Lip Scrub, and Agave Lip Balm, having the trio make up their Everyday Agave Lip Collection.

Essie Ballet Couture Gel Collection

This month, Essie launched an extension of its Gel Couture range with six new delicate and delightful shades as part of their Ballet Couture collection. If you’ve tried their Gel Couture line (it’s the one in the cool twist bottle), you know it’s probably one of the most long-lasting at home polishes on the market and can last up to two weeks. It’s applied like regular polish (it’s not like the in-salon gel manicures that involves a curing machine) and the other perk is it requires no base coat. Simply apply 2 coats, let it dry, then seal with the special Gel Couture Top Coat and you’re good to go. Shade swatches of the new range below!
