Get Lucky at Lord & Taylor: 20% off sale!

Shopping with Lindsay from Saucy Glossie

It doesn’t get too much lucky-ier then an invitation from Lucky Magazine and Lord & Taylor for an exclusive shopping experience with L&T’s Fashion Editor at Large, Suze Yalof Schwartz and their Fashion Director, Paula Correri before the store opens. What’s even better is doing so during this crucial month when it’s time to transition your wardrobe from summer to fall and your in need of a few key pieces! Suze’s advice for quick updates for fall is it’s all about sparkle (although pay attention to your shape to be sure it’s flattering), get into the color blocking fad and if all else fails rely on beauty for a quick and easy pick me up.

While it’s clear Lord & Taylor has been making grand strides to invest in their classic department store and modernize it (have you seen Suze on the cab TV’s?); I have to admit they have been my secret weapon for a while now. Since there ‘ultimate face-lift‘ last year on October 26th (I remember the opening date as it was on my birthday), the redesign has made for an exceptional shopping experience and houses my favorite Clinique counter (check it out, it’s interactive and so amazingly merchandized —read my post about it). Although, I didn’t really have a problem with the older one since what I’ve always loved about their 5th avenue location is it rivals the assortment of Bloomingdale’s but mitigates the crowds or over-selling sales associates. And while you may equate it with an older crowd or sans the cool factor of the Brown Bag, nothing beats the privacy, instant access to the dressing rooms or spectacular beauty floor; especially when you’re in a rush and not looking for that shopping experience as much as to just get in and out of the store as quickly as possible with everything on your list. And they have the best

Lucky Magazine’s Summer Jam

I’m really glad to be in with Lucky Magazine. Since last year the publication has been very supportive of bloggers. In addition to hosting their semi-annual Fashion and Beauty Blogger Conference (FABB), they regular feature bloggers in their issues and have a whole Style Collective on their website.

Last week Lucky Magazine hosted their Summer Jam Cocktail Party for their favorite bloggers *blush*. I wasn’t about turn down the opportunity to meet the staff at Lucky and mingle with my fellow bloggers.

Being rated by The Bumbys

I was greeted by the wonderful Colleen Call (Lucky’s Fashion Merchandising Director) and prompted to see The Bumbys! Do you know The Bumbys? They’re team Gill and Jill who sit behind a desk and offer honest appraisals of your style. No bias here, the duo’s face is covered and they don’t speak. Of course the first think out of my mouth was, ‘do the sunglasses work for me? I want you to know I grabbed them at the bar, so if they give me extra points add it in, if not I can take them off”

Excited over my Bumby's report card!

THE OUTFIT:

My report card said the following:

YES. Yes to the sunglasses. They remind me of the little shock of color that was streaked in the bangs of the emo girl that I sat behind in High School. But that’s coupled with, in your case a kind of debutante meets Steffi Graff thing. And let me just take this opportunity to tell you, that girl from Algebra 2 is looking fiiiiiiiine. Also, don’t take the Steffi Graff thing out of stride, I just meant sporty. Not horse-like.

Average Rating: 9.7

Woohoooo a 9.7!! Which rocked, because I worked that room and it was the highest score of any blogger I met! That was a serious ego boost, although I credit the dress. From the moment I left my apartment to the final event I attended that evening, I don’t think 15minute went by without someone complimenting me on it. It’s a good thing I went for it! I was debating between that outfit, high wasted shorts with a tucked in vintage shirt and snake-print leggings. Apparently there is no consistency in my wardrobe these days.

Pretty Connected Featured in Revlon’s “What’s Your Power Color” Video

Back in February, Lucky Magazine hosted their inaugural Fashion and Beauty Blog (FABB) Conference, powered by Revlon. Over the course of the day Revlon filmed a segment asking each of us two makeup questions: “What is your power color?” and “What is your power makeup pick?”

There were 150 bloggers in attendance at FABB and only a handful were featured. I am so honored to have made the cut–much less be be highlighted for both questions!

The video can also be viewed on Revlon’s Facebook page and new YouTube channel and Lucky Magazine’s Facebook page, so check them out and be sure to let them know what your power color is.

Speaking of video segments…I’m excited to announce that I’ll be collaborating with The Look on The Pulse Network. More details to come (and of course I’ll post it once I’m done with the shoot).

Lucky Magazine Hosts FABB Conference

Event: Lucky Magazine Inaugural Fashion and Beauty Blogger (FABB) Conference
When: February 8th
Venue: Apella, NYC

Fellow Blogger Kimmy Scotti and Lara Eurdolian (me!) at FABB

Lucky Magazine did an extraordinary thing for us bloggers, when hosting their inaugural Fashion and Beauty Blogger (FABB) Conference last week.  To have such an amazing publication show their support to the Blogger community and take the time to organize such an incredibly group of guest speakers and panelists shows a high level of acceptance of us in this industry. I mean HELLO! They got us Jenna Lyons, Tory Burch, Joan Rivers, Sohie Buhai, Lisa Mayock, Kerry Diamond, Erika Bearman (aka @OscarPRGirl) and so many more incredible speakers and notable bloggers. And proved that there’s no reason for all of this hype that magazines and bloggers are in competition, but rather can work to support each other to mutually grow and benefit. Of course on some level we are, but not any more so then we are with our fellow bloggers, and with this new social space it’s a great time for us to come together.

Jenna Lyons (my inspiration), Lara Eurdolian

I was curious to meet Brandon Holley, the new editor in chief of Lucky magazine, who was hosting the event. She recently replaced former Lucky editor, Kim France who founded the publication. Clearly, she has big shoes to fill, however Holley came from Shine, Yahoo’s site for women and obviously has a strong digital and web background. And is putting that experience to good use; it was both innovative and monumental for Lucky to start FABB. Am I expressing the magnitude of this! Most of us would have been content with a digital director hosting the event and her making an appearance. The fact that Holley took the time out of her busy schedule to spend an entire day with us, and advocate for our growth is epic.

Okay, enough gushing, you get the point. The room was filled with bloggers at all levels; from ones who haven’t started their blogs to those who have created a business out of them. I walked out of the conference inspired and hopeful. My notebook was filled with advice including
