During my trip to Miami I brought the most compact, travel friendly wireless earbuds I ever did see. Behold the VerveOnes+ True Wireless Bluetooth Earbuds from Motorola, they retail for $249.99 and are completely wireless, waterproof and they offer up to 12 hours of playtime and 15 hours of talk time. And we’re giving away a pair on Instagram! Head to @prettyconnected and simply like my Instagram page and the corresponding post (or click HERE for direct link)! Extra entry if you leave a comment. Bose SoundSport Wireless Headphones
In early June right before Bose released their new headphones, I was fortunate enough to get a sneak peek at the new headphones and test them out. Bose is undoubtably the headphone masters but what they were able to do in these latest launches is take everything to the next level by elevating the sound and making them wireless. For headphones it was with the launch of the noise canceling QC35 Wireless Headphones ($349.95) and for all my fell runners and fitness friends, the new Soundsport Wireless Headphones ($149.95). From the moment I demoed the Soundsport at the event, I was counting down the days to the launch.
Finding earbuds for when you run in this heat is so hard! These are sweatproof, weatherproof — rain, sweat or shine you’re covered. They clip to the back of my sport bra so at any point I can drop them down around my neck without worrying about them falling off. The earbud portion comes with three different silicone inserts so you can match your perfect inner ear size which locks into the bud which creates an umbrella shape that suctions in your ear which the extended wing locks up for a comfortable fit that doesn’t move.
PRIDE Float with SinfulColors
Yesterday I crossed a huge bucket list item off when my friends at SinfulColors invited me to be on their float for Pride. This year marks my 15th year in NYC and it’s something I’ve always wanted to do. After Orlando, I had a lot to say but no words and what I realized more then anything Is that I wanted to be apart of this big day and show my support for the LGBT (I may be missing a few letters…) community.
The parade featured 2,000 marchers and 85 floats! 12:30pm was our call time to meet on ours at 38th and 5th. It can take up to two hours (and it was close to that) before your float gets cleared to head down 5th Avenue and join in the parade, which ends Greenwich Village’s Stonewall Inn; the birthplace of the gay rights movement. It was recently granted national monument status.

Getting to see my Dad and little brother (who celebrates his birthday on Monday) was such a special treat this week when I was in town for a press trip in Boston. We did a pre-Father’s Day celebration on the water since I won’t be with them this weekend. They help inspire my guides since my dad is impossible to shop for and has coined the term “It’s not that I don’t like it, I just don’t appreciate it”. Like most of us as we get older and are trying to cut out the clutter gifts we can’t use or have a million of get old. It’s my goal every season is to pick things he can actually appreciate — his only rule in my attempts are that ties are not allowed. And fortunately I have my brother Andrew to run my ideas by as well as some stylish dads and mens bloggers I seek for approval. Top picks include…
Stay Here: Renaissance Hotel Providence Downtown
Over the weekend I visited Providence for PVDFest, which celebrates the arts in all forms. Live music, dance, parades and visual art lines the streets for the four day festival. Perfectly located in downtown Providence, with a nothing of a walk from the train station (just a few blocks), we stayed at the Renaissance Hotel. As part of our stay they took us on a tour of the historic building turned ultra modern hotel which originated as a Masonic temple in the 1920s (the blueprints still reside on it’s walls).
With a grandiose lobby, extremely friendly and helpful staff the hotel features 9 floors, 264 rooms, 8 suites with 46 different variations of layouts to match your needs.
I stayed in beautiful room number 935 on the top floor with up an unbelievable view of the State House. Featuring the most comfortable king size bed, desk, and television, which I was too busy exploring to watch it was a very welcoming stay. I also loved the sign in the bathroom which read, “Think less, live more.”
Other amenities of the hotel included fitness center, meeting rooms, club lounge. As well as high speed internet for the rooms and complimentary wireless in all lobby and public areas. The hotel also featured a downstairs bar and restaurant called Public Kitchen.
Add this to the NYC to-do list: Samsung 837 Experience
If you haven’t visited the Samsung’s flagship store, 837 in the Meatpacking district, add it to your list. Especially if you have people in town visiting. It’s an experiential space (as in they don’t sell merchandise or do repairs), where you purely go to experience and test out all the Samsung offerings and virtual reality launches. And also hosting an amazing series of events! I was totally booked Thursday night and am devastated I missed Diplo performing. Although Charlie did get to meet Jeremy Scott and Paris Hilton thanks to our friends at Moroccanoil and the Daily Front Row so rest assured we had our reasons. Although I die for breathing the same air as that hunk.
In addition to the amazing lineup of chefs, artists and creatives they have coming through the store is all of the experiences inside including the virtual reality roller coaster — where you put the VR headset on and sit in a moving chair that makes you feel like you’re on the real thing. There’s also a photobooth that pixilates and reflects your image over the giant screen in the store — you can see below mine with my dad from when he visited New York.
Naomi Campbell lights Empire State Building in Honor of Red Nose Day
Happy Tuesday loves! This morning was pretty epic for me. I got to join one of my all time favorite supermodels, Naomi Campbell as she pulled the switch to light up the Empire State Building in honor of Red Nose Day. As many of you know I’m a big supporter of the cause, and Charlie and I posted pictures earlier this month of us in our Red Nose’ to help raise awareness. For anyone now familiar, Red Nose Day is a national event to raise money and awareness for kids in need around the world.
Scotch Tape DIY
In the past year my creativity has been shot. I used to have time to scrapbook and do DIY and art projects. Now I’m lucky to get in my 6 hours of sleep. Of which, most of my time slumbering I’m fantasizing about a summer home one day, with space and actual storage potential. My current DIY projects involve how to creatively hide my packages and gift bags from my boyfriend and so when we entertain it doesn’t look like we live in a Sephora sample sale. Earlier this month I stopped by the Scotch tape event and it was so fun to spend a night playing with tape — and not just any tape, but every type the Scotch brand offers and beyond.
The first photo above may seem like a normal office setting but in fact there is a piece of the original Scotch Magic Tape across the keyboard of that laptop to get the dust out of the keyboard (genius, I know!). The tape can also be used on glasses and cups to write your name on with magic marker as well as grided across a vase to make your long stem flowers stand up better — yes I did it myself! Also in the desk I spied some Super Glue which I didn’t even know they made.
The Power of Touch and its Importance in a Relationship
May is very special month for me. It marks the 10-year anniversary since James and I had our first date! Even when you have the best partner (and James is the best!) relationships are not easy. I’m filled with advice as we’ve been through practically every obstacle in the past decade but there was one piece of advice a while back, which always stuck with me. It was about the importance of touch and how over time our skin to skin interactions decrease and the negative effects it has on us.
The article triggered two habits. One, I try to always have my hands around the back of James’ neck or on his arms when I kiss him. The other is totally strange – I nestle my foot around his ankle before we go to bed. I know it’s weird, and he thinks it’s so I make sure he doesn’t get away but in all actuality it’s to make sure we have enough skin contact in a day. We are an affectionate couple and I’m so grateful for that, especially after partnering with K-Y on their latest campaign.
K-Y recently partnered with world-renowned sex research institute, The Kinsey Institute, to create The Touch Initiative, a partnership devoted to exposing the power of touch in relationships. They commissioned a national survey to better understand how touch impacts couples’ connectivity and overall well-being and found:
- 87% of men and women in committed relationships rated touch as very or extremely important to building intimacy.
- Yet over a third (34%) of people say they’re not touched enough.
- Couples who touch more than once a day are 14% more satisfied with their relationship, compared to all couples
Success is Calling with TracFone and Dress for Success
Thank you TracFone for sponsoring this post and for the difference you’re making.
A few weeks ago I shared my memorable afternoon at the Dress for Success empowerment luncheon celebrating the Success is Calling program created in partnership with TracFone. Check out the post or watch the video above to see the difference they are making!
The Success is Calling program is designed to help women with employment and achieving economic independence. In addition to the program, which teaches interview skills and job placement support, TracFone empowers women with a new smartphone and a year of service. That is an amazing gift and tool to help these women prepare to enter the workforce and conquer the phone interview.
Don’t underestimate the importance of a phone or the phone interview! According to a recent survey conducted by TracFone, an interview candidate’s phone etiquette is increasingly critical to advancement in the interview process:*
- First Impressions Stick: 85% of hiring managers and working professionals say that first impressions made via phone interviews follow the applicant through the entire interview process.
- Confidence Counts: 82% of hiring managers use phone interviews to gauge a candidate’s confidence in their professional capabilities.
- Phone Skills Are Essential: 82% of hiring managers say phone skills are key to landing and maintaining a job.
As one of America’s leading no-contract cellphone service providers, TracFone has not only raised funds, donated phones and service, this year they are expanding the program by offering it to twice as many women across the country.
