tHERSday: Claiming back girls night in

9 girls, 1 night, 4 bottles of wine, 3 boxes of makeup… it’s tHERSday™ at chez Pretty Connected. What exactly is tHERSday? Well let me back up — I have been wanting to have a girls night  for FOREVER! My schedule has been so completely insane in the membrane I’ve barely had time to call my parents let alone set up dinners with all the fabulous ladies in my life.

I was all complaints and no action, until I got an email from REMBRANDT (yes the teeth grooming specialists) offering a tHERSday™ kit—a bag packed with all the essentials needed to throw a tHERSday™ party (aka girls night). We’re talking

The perfect holiday hair combo: Fekkai and Jennifer Behr!

IMG_4861‘Tis the season to glam up your tresses and Fekkai definitely taught me a thing or two about holiday hair! I recently visited the salon for what can only be described as a complete hair transformation. Fekkai teamed up with hair accessories designer Jennifer Behr for the evening and her collection makes for the perfect accent for any holiday look.

With the cold months ahead one of the first battles when it comes to healthy hair is combating winter dryness. Fekkai recently launched their PrX Reparatives Collection, which is designed to transform dry unmanageable hair into soft silky hair with movement. The collection consists of the PrX Shampoo ($30-$49), PRX Conditioner ($30-$49), PrX Preparative Intensive Fortifying Mask ($49) and PrX Reparatives 3 Day Transformation ($100).IMG_4877

My fabulous Fekkai stylist, Hos Hounkpatin, used the shampoo and conditioner on my hair as well as Fekkai styling products and as embarrassing as it is

Hello Kitty, Hello Art! New York City Art Exhibition

IMG_4791

If you’re a Hello Kitty fan, drop everything and head to Openhouse Gallery for the Hello Kitty, Hello Art! New York City Art Exhibition & Book Launch. The exhibit runs this weekend only and is free and open to the public.

The exhibition features Fashion Designer Betsey Johnson joined by AIKO, Paul Frank, POSE, Simone Legno, and many more popular artists for Sanrio’s first art exhibition in New York City. Showcasing a colorful spectrum of paintings, sculpture, prints, and media ranging from pop to street aesthetics, the gallery exhibition will display a collection of Sanrio-inspired Hello Kitty themed works of art by popular artists from around the world.

Hello Kitty has proved to be no-fad, with her ever growing popularity. However it wasn’t until a recent interview I did with Lisa Loeb, and now this exhibit, that I fully appreciate the brand. Loeb, who’s not only a fan but collector described the appeal as, “what I love about Hello Kitty stuff, is it takes such mundane things, and when you use it, it makes you so happy.” Through this exhibit, I fully appreciated the creativity and artistic expression and colors brought forth in the show. Hello Kitty is so fun!

Join PC & Refinery29 for Tinseltown!

12.12.12_Tinseltown_Evite_Final

Last night, I hosted the DIY station for Refiner29’s pop-up shop, Tinseltown and had guests make and decorate their own holiday cards using Sarah Reynolds signature frame stationary.

The pop-up shop officially opens today and runs through the weekend. So head over to 201 Mulberry Street and do some holiday shopping, get a makeover (and tattoo — theirs a falsey station!), and make some cards!

Screen Shot 2012-12-12 at 10.33.04 PM

Whatcha up to this weekend? I was recently given a sample of 1509 essential oils and they are exquisite. They are hosting an event this Saturday December 15th, 1-6pm at Perry Gargano, 242 Grand Street, Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

12/6 – 12/8 NYC Shopping Event: Lucky Magazine presents Lucky Shops #LuckyShopsNY

I. can’t. stop. shopping. It’s a problem, or rather it’s sample sale season! First came black Friday (which I hid from), then came the Rag & Bone sample sale (which I broke spending records), Friday is GiltCity’s Warehouse Sale and finally — and yes, this has got to be my last shopping quest of the month — we have Lucky Shops! (I’m cut off from all other sample sales.)

12/4 at 10pm Tune in for Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show

After much anticipation (and a few curve balls), the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show premiere’s tonight, December 4th at 10pm on CBS. This year’s show features musical acts Justin Bieber, Rihanna, and Bruno Mars.

This show has had some unconventional press considering it hasn’t even aired yet. First came Hurricane Sandy, to which they came to the rescue when the power was wiped out at the armory of the New York Army National Guard’s 69th Infantry Regiment in NYC. It was the show’s generators that kept the power up. Then came the controversy
