Making funny faces with Harry Potter Weasley Twins: James and Oliver Phelps

IMG_7086

It’s been two years since the last Harry Potter film was released but fans have far from forgotten about their Hogwarts friends. Clearly a classic, the films are destined to inspire a world a magic for generations to come. Or so is evident by the line that formed to meet the infamous “Weasley Twins,” James and Oliver Phelps at the Harry Potter: The Exhibition at NYC’s Discovery Times Square (the exhibit runs through April 7th learn more HERE). Starting at 4am a line formed that wrapped around the corner to meet the twins. — they we’ren’t scheduled to arrive until 11am.

After hours of signing autographs, I sat down with the dynamic duo

Going on a Power Trip with Jackie Collins

Jackie Collins, Lara EurdolianAs far as I’m concerned there are two types of women, Jackie Collins fans and those who don’t know they are Jackie Collins fans yet (the rest of you are just pretending).  I used to be the latter until meeting the author a few years back and by the end of our interview I was completely enamored.

Her kindness, coupled with her no nonsense, tell-it-like it is attitude is so refreshing as is her genuine love of women and commitment to building strong female characters in her books. Collins is a dreamer, a natural story teller, with a huge imagination and she inspires me every time I’m around her. So consider my reaction when I was asked to host the launch of her latest book, The Power Trip. Let me be clear, my Vespa’s name Lucky (after my favorite JC character),  her autographed picture which she signed “Stay Lucky” hangs in my office and at least once a week I have a ‘what would Jackie Collins do?’ moment — you get it, this offer made my life.

So alongside the talented Jamey Giddens of Daytime and Pop Confidential, we co-hosted the press event at NYC’s Yotel all Family Feud style. Literally. We divided 40 or so press and bloggers into two teams for some Pop Culture Trivia. The winning team got to face off against Collins herself for the ultimate showdown. First off, if I knew being a game-show host was this much fun, I would have switched careers. Bloggers in competitive mode is one of the most

NYFW: Monika Chiang Fall 2013 Presentation

“My inspiration for Fall/Winter 2013 began with a recurring dream I’ve been having for years. In the dream, I’m running as fast as I can until I take off into flight. I also recently visited an exhibit with these really interesting midcentury photographs of birds at MOMA and became fascinated with the shapes they create with their wings while in flight. So you’ll see a lot of graphic shapes in the collection that were inspired by those references. With regard to tailoring, I began thinking a lot about vintage military and aviator uniforms shapes while developing the silhouettes for the season.” – Monika Chiang, Designer

Allison_Tavi_KatieMARLO1

Upon walking into the Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center for the red carpet premiere of the documentary MAKERS: Women Who Make America”, I immediately felt this a ridiculous fierce energy just knowing I was surrounded by some of the most groundbreaking women in America.  Proudly presented by PBS, AOL and Simple Facial Skincare, in walked the likes of Gloria Steinem, Allison Williams, Katie Couric, Amy Goodman, Marlo Thomas (alongside husband, Phil Donanhue) and Tavi Gevinson (to name a few).  As part of a sneak preview of the documentary, they let guests view the 1st hour and  part of the third.  The film is a unique initiative that documents the extraordinary impact women from all walks of life have made in America over the past 50 years. The ladies featured filled me with tears of inspiration and awe.

CANDICE: I’m funny on Valentine’s Day, I don’t expect too much. I do try to step out of comfort zone and wear something sexy and different. Also my boyfriend should plan something nice for us, it’s his day too.

Michelle Obama Wears Jason Wu AGAIN to 2013 Inauguration Ball

President Obama And first lady Attend Inaugural Balls

It would be the biggest news since Michelle Obama’s bangs — of course I’m talking about her dress of choice for the 2013 Inauguration ball. Out walks the First Lady in her gorgeous ruby colored full length gown (with v-neck back) and alongside the President, they share the first dance. (All the while we’re all holding our breathe, in anticipation of the dress announcement.) Finally it’s revealed, she’s wearing Jason Wu… again. What’s so crazy about this momentous fashion moment is no one knows who she will wear — not even the designer — until she makes her entrance. She complimented the dress with Jimmy Choo shoes.

Having a reputation for wearing young designers and bringing them in the spotlight — as she did the first time around in wearing Jason Wu, and with all the speculation over who she would be wearing. I don’t think anyone anticipated it would Wu again. She already made his career the first time around,
