Vivienne Tam Partners with WeChat for YOUR Chance to Walk the Runway at NYFW

ATTENTION all fashionista’s! Vivienne Tam is partnering with the messaging app, WeChat to find fashion’s next rising star! One lucky “It” girl will  be flown to NYC in September to walk the runway at Vivienne Tam’s Spring Fashion Show at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week!

This is the first open model contest Vivienne Tam has ever hosted, and she has partnered with WeChat to find a confident, passionate and creative woman to showcase a look from her upcoming collection, and to give an aspiring young model, the opportunity to participate in New York fashion week.

“WeChat with its all-inclusive platform, allows me to connect globally with my fans to discover new faces and talent who will have an unique opportunity to become fashion’s next supermodel,” said Vivienne Tam. “I am excited to find talent who embodies the true international spirit to star in one of the biggest fashion events of the year.”

Open to contestants across the globe, aspiring fashionistas simply submit their information using the WeChat app or contest site http://www.wechatapp.io/vivienne-tam-model-contest and Vivienne Tam will select her top choices from all the entries. She will then turn the contest over to her WeChat community who will vote to select the final runway winner. (The runner-up will also receive one free pass to attend the exclusive NYC Fashion Week show.)

To participate in the contest, simply:

  1. Download the free WeChat app on any smartphone
  2. Open the app and search “VTAMFASHION” to follow Vivienne Tam
  3. Tap “Messages” then the “Contest” tab to submit a short questionnaire with two photos or visit: http://www.wechatapp.io/vivienne-tam-model-contest

The contest is open internationally to females who are 18+ years old. Applications will be accepted until July 25, at 11:59 PM ET. Living Room Upgrade


Since James moved in with me and got a wood shop, we’ve been all about revamping our apartment. With it being summer, we updated our throw pillows and took off the radiator cover and stripped down the paint on the pipes and James built some shelves for some extra storage over it. And I ordered a massive white rug which I feel like is the last major piece I really needed to revamp my living room before focusing on painting.

Lets be honest, if I had my way, my living would look like a girly parlor room but since James shot that down, I’ve been leaning more towards a modern and open aesthetic with some vintage elements while he’s more into  a natural, woodsy/loft look — which I like as well but don’t think we have the layout for. Given that we have light floors, which neither of us are a fan of and our different wants we’ve had to compromise a bit. We’ve spent hours on Pinterest pinning any image that we both like on Pinterest (it’s the best place to get inspired and channel your creativity!) and  have a special board called Apartment Inspiration. I’m also incredibly inspired by my friend Leah, who works in interiors so I’m always asking her questions and checking out her recommendations — I mean look at her apartment… I just want her to design my entire space with her aesthetic.

This weekend we stopped by Ace Hardware to check out the paint assortment from Clark+Kensington, which is their exclusive in-store paint brand. Their website is awesome and great for getting ideas for remodeling and painting. Our current debate is if we should paint all of the walls or just do an accept wall in the back and leave the rest white.

Bichbox Celebrates First Store in NYC with Jessica Szohr, Jamie Chung & Abigail Breslin

Beauty lovers, get excited, the infamous subscription beauty box service, Birchbox has opened a store and it’s AMAZING! (For such a small box, it’s a huge store). Located in NYC’s Soho at 433 West Broadway, the two floor location features full size products across beauty, from color, hair, skincare and nails. And even features a BYOB (Build Your Own Box) room where you can pick samples to create a custom box.

From the launch party, to the next day for the official opening, I was there to celebrate this major milestone with all of my friends at Birchbox. The opening party attracted the likes of  Jamie Chung, Abigail Breslin, Jessica Szohr, Hannah Bronfman, Julie Henderson, Leilani Bishop, Nick Wooster, Rick Pipino, and Carmidy. As well as many of the founders and teams behind the brands carried at Birchbox who all celebrated alongside Birchbox Co-Founders Hayley Barna and Katia Beauchamp.

Patricia Field Celebrates 2 Years Anniversary at Bowery Location

On Thursday night, the House of Field boutique celebrated it’s 2 year anniversary at it’s location at 306 Bowery in NYC.  The massive 2 floor store is like a museum, filled with so much color and creative expression — and fun fact, the location used to be Patricia Field’s home! Presented by New York Natives and hosted by the woman of the hour, stylist Patricia Field, it felt like a house party, and I’m so glad I was able to celebrate this wonderful milestone. Plus I finally got to meet Pat’s pups!

On a Monday a few weeks back (you can tell it’s a monday since my #NoMakeupMonday crusade is in full effect), I joined Audrey McClelland of Mom Generations and Vera Sweeney of Lady And The Blog for their spring Getting Gorgeous event! This is their annual event where they join top bloggers with fashion and beauty brands. Hosted at the Metropolitan Pavilion it was a beautiful day to kick back, drink some Voli Vodka (it was 5pm somewhere) and meet some new brands.

Clinique never ceases to amaze me in terms of pushing the envelope to develop new and innovative products. Their latest development is a major game changers! In an age of selfie’s, #NoMakeupMondays, and everything social media, where at any moment you have to be camera ready, having great skin has never felt more important. Neither has proper cleansing considering the amount of pollution in the air (and some other factors — ahem, diet, drinking…).

NYC is the 2nd Most Wrinkle-Prone Region in the US! Guess why.

Living in the city that never sleeps is a unique experience filled with many perks ranging from the best shopping, 24 hour delivery services, and cultural experiences at every turn. All of these obvious “pluses” happen to also come with a big “minus”.  According to a new study by Sperling’s BestPlaces and RoC Skincare, the Big Apple is the second most wrinkle-prone region in the U.S.!!! This study assesses lifestyle, occupational and environmental factors that can add wear and tear to the skin (of which NYC scored higher then average in all categories). Some leading factors include climate conditions, stress levels and not enough sleep!!

Lately, I’ve been all about the subscription box services. I’ve been getting some really interesting ones from all over the world — mostly beauty and fashion boxes — except for my latest discovery, Nourish Snacks!

I’m a huge snacker. With the amount that I’m on the road and my scattered schedule, I consider myself a bit of an expert in the category. (I’m on a first name basis with my deli guys.) I’m also a health nut and probably one of my biggest struggles is finding good, healthy, quick choices (my current staples are Kind Bars, pita chips and nuts), although I’m always feigning for more options, I feel so limited in having good choices. So, a subscription box service that delivers a variety of healthy snacks has my name written all over it.
