Since the new year, I’ve featured a weekly wellness/workout post, and for this weeks installment I thought I would share what’s in my workout bag — with a very special edition that you can now get in the US!
For all of you that have been following me for a while, you know how much I love the Vaseline Lip Therapy Tins. You saw me stock up on them in September when I was in UK (where they have previously been exclusive to) and freak out in excitement when rumors were floating around in December that they would be launching in the US soon. Well my friends, they are finally here! And available in all four flavors we’ve seen abroad: Original, Aloe, Shea Butter and Rosy Lips.
It’s a major Throwback Thursday this week thanks to our friends at Galderma who invited us in for a total mom makeover recreating one of our favorite shots of our moms. As the global skin health and dermatology experts at Galderma know, our mother’s passes down a predisposition to age like them. But that’s rarely talked about. The point of the event was to spark a conversation around taking care of your skin and being proactive about anti-aging. Mainly, looking to our mothers and grandmothers — our genes for what’s in store for our futures. And what areas we should be addressing – crows feet, skin sagging or other areas of concerns. While we may all have access to the same skincare and treatments we do not so when it comes to our genes. Here are some interesting stats they put together:
Fashion Week is that exciting time of year that both motivates me and exhausts me in ways I never knew possible. Uncomfortable shoes, early morning call times that end in late night after-parties are all part of the territory. Whether you’re hitting the shows or have a busy week in the horizon here are a few tips to help you stay calm, cool and looking in top form.
Here are 6 things we’re currently obsessing over — most of which are going down this week!
1. The Derek Zoolander Center for People Who Don’t Age Good Opens this Week!

Follow me on snapchat: @prettyconnected if you can’t make it and want to peek inside, I’ll for sure be stopping by this week.
2. C. Wonder is back with Brad Goreski as the new Creative Director
Mark your calendar’s for March 3rd when C. Wonder heads over to QVC. The recently acquired brand will be exclusive to QVC and boasts Brad Goreski as their new creative director! We got a sneak preview of the spring collection and it’s on point with all the merchandise we remember from the retailer: vibrant printed bags, enamel cuffs and jewelry, preppy clothes, fun flats and of course those signature bikes we wish we snagged before their stores closed. (Now we can!).
3. We’re Featured in the Caravan Stylist x Save The Garment Center Map Project On Display this Week for Auction!
Claudine DeSola of Caravan Stylist Studio asked New York “creatives,” ranging from bloggers, editors, photographers, artists, designers and TV personalities – including Charlotte Ronson, Shoshanna,Patricia Underwood, Byron Lars, Alice & Trixie,Dana Bronfman, and Me! to inventively decorate New York maps with a tailored selection of their top 5 destinations in NYC. I of course got carried away and picked 13 destinations. Mine folds up into a little square and comes with a notebook so you can take notes of your NYC trip. It’s also great framed flat! During Fashion Week, the original maps from all of the creatives, will be on display and auctioned off at The Gregory Hotel with proceeds going to Save The Garment Center, whose mission is to promote, preserve and save New York City as the fashion capital of the world.
This event is open to the public and the maps will be on display at the Gregory Hotel, 42 West 35th Street, NYC on February 11th-13th and 15th-17th from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. There are so many amazing ones up for grabs!
4. Beauty Crawl with ‘And I Get Dressed’: Sephora vs. Ricky’s
We all need a beauty blogger in our lives someone who listens to what you’re looking for in a product and then tells you what you need. This week in @itsmekellieb’s latest youtube video for And I Get Dressed I’m just that to take her on a tour of Sephora and Ricky’s. Top Sephora beauty picks for black eyeliner goes to NARS Kohliner. Best lip pencils: Tarte Lip Crayons. Best matte liquid lipsticks goes to Stila Stay All Day, Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick and Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick.Ricky’s excels more for hair and then expands in other categories of beauty. Instead of carrying a full line of one brand they usually take the top pick or cult favorite. And offer a great range of high and low prices. It’s also the place to get crazy eyelashes and more eccentric beauty finds which is why they are so known for their Halloween pop-ups. Watch the video for a peek at our day. With the whole athleisure trend (the fitness fashion revelation) growing strong, it was only a matter of time when beauty brands started to follow suit. Recently I spent the evening with Birchbox for the launch of just that brand called ARROW. Specializing in lightweight, long-wearing makeup and refreshing skincare, Birchbox‘s new beauty brand ARROW is designed to keep up with your on-the-go, active lifestyle. Each breathable product creates a fresh, natural, beautiful effect, so you can feel cool and confident from an A.M. visit to the gym to a late-night work session (and everywhere in between). Bonus: Every product in the ARROW line is vegan, paraben-free, cruelty-free, and gluten-free.
ARROW PROTECT Aluminum-Free Deodorant ($9) – I wanted to love this. It’s so hard to find an aluminum-free deodorant that works, unfortunately this one was no exception. While it’s better then it’s competitors if you’re doing anything past light yoga it doesn’t hold up. At least it didn’t for me, which is too bad because it smells amazing. The bright citrus scent is designed to
Love is in the air and with the count down to Valentine’s Day being a week away it’s time to prepare for an evening of champs, kisses and maybe more. A few things we’re in love with…
Veuve Clicquot Rose – Lets get the party started and cheers to the celebration of love! As the “pink” expression of Brut Carte Jaune, Veuve Clicquot Rose shares the same bubbly structure.
Clarisonic Mia Fit – Ever since the Clarisonic Alpha Fit men’s version came out, I’ve been not-so-secretly lusting over that perfectly compact rounded shape. I’m not alone since Clarisonic just launched the Mia Fit! Perfect for
This has been a really exciting year for me (and it just started!). My New Years resolution was to be healthier and I gave up alcohol for all of January and started cycling regularly. I was able to score some Coachella tickets for April so I’ve been focused on getting back into a bikini and taking better care of myself after a decadent (aka dessert and champagne galore) holiday season. The first major milestone was making it through the first month without cheating (one step at a time) and it’s so motivating to see a difference already.
If you follow me on snapchat (which I hope all of you do @prettyconnected), 3 things you’ve probably noticed: 1. I’m not a morning person, 2. I’m always busy and running around to events, and 3. I don’t sleep enough.
We all have our AM routines, for me it’s up-beat get-me-out-of-bed music, a body shower and coffee to kick start my day. However, none of those help the looming tired eyes after a long day or sleepless night. Well my fellow sleep deprived friends, there is good news! Clinique’s NEW Pep-Start Eye Cream ($26.50) is designed to brighten eyes and show results in just 3 seconds!
I’ve been a long-time fan of Clinique and their eye products. Their Smart Custom-Repair Eye Treatment is one of my all time favorite eye creams and a staple in my bathroom. It’s a brand I trust and I’m so excited to partner with them for the launch of their latest eye cream,Pep-Start.
After getting an early sample of the new Pep-Start Eye Cream and using it for the past week, I joined Clinique yesterday for the launch and Daybreaker morning party.
If you followed the snapchat you know I was up at 6am, brightening those eyes with the product and then headed to Daybreaker
For this weeks #WellnessWednesday post, I want to spotlight two awesome brands doing amazing things and making our world a better place. Yesterday, I had the pleasure of partnering with The Giving Keys and State Bags for their Spread the Love Initiative and a day of pampering for the women of Project Renewal.
Project Renewal works to end the cycle of homelessness by empowering at-risk New Yorkers to renew their lives with health, homes and jobs. The ladies in the house enjoyed a day of pampering complete with hair, makeovers and manicures. The DJ had the whole room dancing and the theme of the event was Shine, which definitely shined through with all of the joy that filled the air.
Hosted at the Pine Street School in downtown NYC, they had 75 women in attendance for this Valentine’s Day party and each woman was gifted a State Bags filled with a custom SHINE Giving Key necklace.
Right before the snow storm hit, my friend Nay came over to show me her new jewelry line, TEGAA. Named after the collective of artisans who hand makes them in Gambia, there are no two pieces that are exactly the same. For every piece sold a portion of the sale is donated to Power Up Gambia, an American based nonprofit that provides solar powered water and electricity to hospitals and clinics in the Gambia. The collection is so vibrant and beautiful and honors their trade and practices and helps keep the industry alive.
I’m in love with every piece she gave me. These incredible stacking bracelets and wrapped earrings are so unique and the colors brighten the most muted of outfits.
