Fight Dry Mouth and Bad Breath

Orazyme Mouthwash

Alcohol and smoking dehydrates you; coffee gives you, well ‘coffee breath’, mix that in with the winter weather drying everything from your skin to you’re mouth you may be experiencing an increase of dry mouth and bad breathe!

What’s a girl to do? Well for starters you could quit drinking, smoking and coffee and drink a lot of water. If that’s not realistic, start drinking water in between alcoholic beverages to help hydrate and protect you from (or at least lessen the effects) a hangover and a dehydrated mouth.

Sweet Breath Mist

Add a mouthwash specifically formulated to protect against dry mouth into your regimen. I’ve been using Orazyme Dry Mouth Mouthwash for the past month and it’s been very effective. It contains bioactive enzymes to help restore the moisture balance. Most mouthwashes make my teeth feel clean, where as this one I feel more so targeting my tongue and gums. It isn’t too strong and contains no parabens, saccharin, sugar or alcohol, and has an enjoyable mint flavor.

Carry around mints or sprays for a quick fix to stinky breathe. I have a Sweet Breath Micro Mist spray on my key ring. It’s super convenient since my keys are always on me when I’m out. So when in need I just spray a hit into my mouth and it instantly kills germs and freshens my breath.

If your dry mouth is really bad,

Stay Hydrated, Drink Safe

What product can give you beautiful glowing skin, diminish fine lines and wrinkles, increases your energy level, and helps your overall health?

ANSWER: Water

So drink it, and lots of it! This winter has been brutal and oh so drying on the skin, that alongside a hydrating beauty regimen it’s essential to drink a lot of water. Filtered is ideal, but if your tap is safe then fill those water bottles up keep some on you at all time.

For bottled water, I’m currently all about Icelandic Glacial water. It’s sourced from a 4,500 year old volcanic spring and untouched by humans until you open the bottle. The water is so pure that Parfums Christian Dior has recently partnered with Icelandic Glacial to include the water in specific products that will launch next year. While I’m excited for the unveiling of this product, what I like about Icelandic Glacial is it’s crisp, clean, taste. It’s very refreshing!

Also, invest in a good water bottle. It’s a great way to save money, protect the environment and keep you drinking all day. When choosing one, I prefer not to use plastic and ideally go with glass or aluminum/stainless steel containers.  Here are some of my favorites, but depending on if you carry it in your purse, car, when you’re off to the gym or otherwise, it’s important to pay attention to design, weight and size when picking the one that’s right for you!

Love Bottle ($12-$18) – Environmentally sound, dishwasher safe and comes in a variety of whimsical labels, I love my Love Bottle! It has an old-school-milk-bottle type lid, which adds to its charm, but takes some getting used to –especially if you’re used to a twist off cap. The only downfall is it’s heavy, especially

Starbuck’s NEW VIA French Roast

Starbucks VIA French Roast

As some of you may remember, it was almost a year ago when I was first posted about Starbucks VIA Ready Brew coffee ($2.95/3pack, $9.95/12pack). Starbucks was one of the sponsors at New York Fashion Week, and I was in between shows and in dire need of caffeine.  My options we’re either their instant VIA coffee or one of their overly sweetened packaged drinks. Having only experienced instant coffee that tasted like watered down dirt, it was out of complete desperation that I tried the VIA Italian Roast, much less expected to drink the whole cup. To my surprise it tasted exactly like their regular brewed coffee—my mind was actually blown.

Starbucks VIA Collection

This month Starbucks launched their latest VIA flavor in French Roast. I had the pleasure of spending National Coffee Break Day (1/20) with them for an exclusive tasting and flavor profiles of each of the VIA varieties.  First off, VIA has come a long way since last year, they now offer an extensive range of flavors including Italian, Columbia, Vanilla, Mocha, Caramel and Cinnamon Spice, as well as a VIA Iced Coffee. It’s no wonder they are the No. 1 selling packaged coffee globally. Although, that’s not surprising considering how convenient

SAKS + neuveauBrow: A Prescription for Perfect Eyebrows

neuveauBrow

Recently, I was spoiled by Saks Fifth Avenue and neuveauBrow active eyebrow technology for a brow consultation with celebrity brow expert and founder of Damali NYC Heidi Evora-Santiago. Of course my first instinct was to tweeze and pluck – after all I was going before the woman who has done everyone from Katherine Heigl to Eva Longoria’s brows. Although I quickly came to my senses, and realized I should probably leave it to the professional.

At the Saks counter I learned about neuveauBrow ($100), a scientifically advanced formula containing peptides, proteins, vitamins and moisturizers that both nourishes and condition to restore brows to a fuller and healthier state. Dermatologist tested, neuveauBrow is ideal for women with sparse, thinning or weak brows, neuveauBrow can shows results within four weeks.

Heidi Evora-Santiago takes on Lara's brows

I however am very fortunate in that department (although I brought along a writer that’s very excited to review it!). My middle-eastern eyebrows are anything but lacking, which was confirmed when Heidi said, “You have great brows, we don’t even need to fill them in, I’m just going to clean up under the brow and trim them.” She even approved of the shape. Phew!

The end result was naturally perfection. She gave me more of a defined arch while still keeping the brows thick and evened out and the shape to compliment my face. I have difficulty looking in a mirror and making sure everything is symmetrical –that’s a common mistake, which can end to over-tweezing. Having a perfectionist go in

Taking Time with Rodney Cutler for Redken’s NEW Nature’s Rescue Collection

Redken Nature's Rescue Collection

There’s a big shift in the industry right now with brands creating more natural formulations due to the increasing concerns over parabens, sulfates and silicone. This month, Redken joins the ranks by launching Nature’s Rescue, a new (paraben-free, sulfate-free and silicone-free) haircare collection merging together technological expertise with plant and marine extracts to help remove impurities and buildup while helping to nourish hair.

Last month, I took time with Rodney Cutler, Redken Brand Ambassador and owner of Cutler/Redken Salons for a special preview of the collection. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Rodney Cutler on a few occasions and seeing him in action and It’s always very humbling to be in his presence. Cutler addressed the growing demand in the marketplace for natural products but at the end of the day “the products have to work, otherwise, what’s the point?” So while this line will fill that naturals void in the Redken collection, it’s the really the unique blend of this Sea Algae HydraComplex that makes it so unique. It consists of Sea Algae, for it’s protective properties, Soy Protein for it’s replenishing ones and Aloe Vera for moisture.

The Nature’s Rescue collection consists of four products:

  • Refreshing Detox Shampoo: $16 (6.8oz) – washes away daily stress by helping to eliminate impurities, pollution and buildup.
  • Refining Sea Polish: $19 (3.4oz) – gentle exfoliant enriched with pumice removes impurities and refines hair’s surface leaving it smooth and shiny.
  • Cooling Deep Conditioner: $17 (4.2oz) – Ultra moisturizing conditioner helps rebalance hair while cooling and soothing the scalp.
  • Radiant Sea Spray: $17 (3.4oz) – lightweight and multifunctional spray that adds texture.

The other great attribute to the collection is Nature’s Rescue is formulated for all hair types, safe for color-treated hair, and can be used daily, weekly or on alternate days from your regular haircare regimen. When I asked the must have from the collection, without hesitation Cutler chose the Refining Seas Polish claiming, “there’s nothing else like it on the market! Wait until you try it, and just feel your hair after you rinse it out—it will be so soft”.  Needless to say I was intrigued.

I then went on to the Cutler Salon in the Gansevoort Park Hotel to experience the line. My first observation was that the shampoo felt and looked similarly to aloe. It had a slight lather and was easily worked into and absorbed by my hair. Next the Refinish Sea Polish –it literally felt like a gritty exfoliant that felt like sand paper mixed into a moisturizer.  The key to this product is to put a small amount in between your hands, start at the shaft and shimmy your hands down to the root going with the grain of the hair. Do it in sections to really get every part. My stylist then

Ladies: Are You Ready For Some Football… Apparel?

Well football has been heating up this season, with the Jets out of nowhere, beating the Patriots last weekend. And as we gear up for the Superbowl the big question is will the Jets be able to take it all the way? I suppose we’re about to find out.  And whether you’re in the sidelines or at a bar, how do you show your support? Generally it comes down to the wardrobe, the face paint and how loud you’re willing to yell.

For us ladies our apparel options are limited. In fact, growing up I used to buy large boy sizes just to get something close to being fitted –and even then it was just a better alternative to an over-sized males shirt. Which is why I’m excited to announce that the NFL launched a “Fit For You” campaign a few months ago offering female fans a new destination for NFL women’s apparel www.nfl.com/women.

Touch NFL is designed by actress (and Giants fan), Alyssa Milano, who appears in the ad campaign alongside notable football wives representing their teams.  The collection includes a variety of styles and prints. Finally, we have options!

Simple visit http://wlist.ferragamo.com/ and vote for me ‘LARA EURDOLIAN’ (I can currently be found in 5th place). You can vote today and tomorrow, the competition ends on January 22nd!

The winner has the opportunity to inspire a one-of-a-kind custom W bag designed just for you by Ferragamo Creative Director, Massimiliano Giornetti. If you

New Years Eve Affaire with Fig. 19

Affaire Restaurant and Lounge

I have a lot to catch up on –especially since I’m only now reflecting on my New Years. Despite popular belief, NYE is generally a HUGE letdown in NYC –it’s cold, you can’t catch a cab, you need to pick your party wisely since bar hoping is next to impossible, so are the bar crowds, the cover charges… and at the end of the day all you’re looking for is that great crowd and perfect midnight kiss.  Usually the only place that can be found is in the movies. Then again, lately it feels like my life is something straight out of one so it should have been no surprise that I had an amazing night. I got to do the girly get ready thing, and go to one of my bestfriend’s apartments (complete with multiple clothing and shoe options), crack a bottle of wine and glam up for our evening out.

I then begin my night at a private party a friend of mine was hosting at the soon-to-be-open-to-the-public bar, Fig. 19.  Opened by the same owners of Home Sweet Home, the new speakeasy is located directly above it at 131 Chrystie Street. When you arrive, you walk up the stairs, go through the NP Art Gallery, and Fig.19 unfolds into a charming bar with exposed brick. Rob Pope from Spoon and Clarke Baechle from The Faint DJ-ed the event and despite being warned not to be the jerk that shows up at 11:30pm trying to get in – I of course was! Fortunately, the bouncer had a sweet spot for me, and before the clock struck 12, I was celebrating with new and old friends, champagne in hand.

After the countdown (miracles of miracle), I found a cab and headed over to the E. Village for the opening party of Affaire. Originally, China 1, owner Andrew Krauss converted the large dual level space into Affaire, an upbeat French restaurant and lounge. Complete with
