You guys know how much I love that charcoal! From toothpaste to powders, face masks and foot pads (I even used to ingest capsules at one point), it works wonders to suck the impurities and toxins out. Advanced Clinicals recently launched a new Activated Charcoal Peel-Off mask, which I was excited to get my hands on.
I’m an old school Rodial fan, so much so that I checked the blog and saw I’ve been talking about the brand since 2013 thanks to one of my favorite retailers, SpaceNK, who always curates the best products, especially out of the UK where both brands originated! I had the pleasure of meeting their founder, Maria Hatzistefanis aka @mrsrodial when they launched makeup in the US in 2015! The throwback photo of us is worth the click for that blog post. Over the past few years, I’ve watched this brand explode and Maria take her Boss status next level. She’s the definition of a beauty boss, and earlier this year launched a book, How to be an Overnight Success.
We sat down with the bombshell at the Whitby hotel for the launch of their latest Diamond Concealers (they are creamy and magical with a thick wand ready to cover it all up) and Suede Lips intense matte lip colour (9 shades that manage to be creamy and matte at the same time), two new Dragon’s Blood products, the Cleansing Micellar Water with Hyaluronic Acid and Essence Mist and to talk all things being an entrepreneur.
Tell me about your new book
Maria: We launched it in the US in the beginning of the year, How to be an Overnight Success and the message of the book is you can be a success, it just won’t be overnight. It took me 18 years to be where I am today. And the book is all about inspiring and motivating people, entrepreneurs and freelancers to keep doing what they are doing and work hard and to not get disappointed if things don’t happen immediately. It takes time and it’s a positive message to keep going and keep on being the best you can be!
It’s been an exciting week with my Cosmoprof family! As some of you know, Cosmoprof is the largest and most awarded B2B beauty event in the US, they have shows around the world but their Vegas show, which is coming up July 29-31st is not to be missed if you’re based here or looking to launch your beauty brand in the US. I’m so honored to be their on-air personality this season and can’t wait to interview the brands coming out to the show in Vegas.
I’ll be available Sunday, July 29th and Monday, July 30th from 1-3pm interviewing brands on their star items. I’ll also be on the :How Influencers are Shaping the Beauty Industry” Panel on Tuesday, July 31st from 11-12:30pm.
What a night, as many of you know Cynthia Nixon is running for NY Governor and she needs our help! The Sex and the City star co-hosted an event with Sex and the City award winning costume designer aka our favorite person, Patricia Field. This week kicks off the 20th anniversary of the show so to see the two reunited with a Carrie necklace in hand (and ahem, PATRICIA FIELD IS WEARING MY BOSS RINGS!!! Actually two of them stacked because shes a major boss). Fun fact, Patricia Field created the original Carrie necklace and it’s available on her website and yes, you can get it personalized to your name.

What an exciting week! The icon, legend, Patricia Field opened her shoppable ArtFashion gallery space in the lower east side. Featuring 16 exceptional artists, creating custom, one of a kind hand painted clothing, accessories, paintings & sculpture. The collections were previously available on their website, patriciafield.com and now have expanded into the space at 200 East Broadway, NYC.
It’s been an awesome few month since we started the Pretty Connected accessories line. We started with camera straps that doubled as bag straps, and now have launched customizable silver bags (more styles coming soon!), BOSS rings, and our chain straps which pretty much do it all.
We have two styles of the chain strap, the LARA and the PATRICIA strap (the Patricia is featured above). Both are bag straps that double as camera straps that you can add charms to and customize. The above Patrica Strap really shows off some of the many charm offerings! The LARA chain strap also works really well as a necklace, waist chain and lanyard and more! 1. On a camera – any camera with split or D-ring (we also have a converter for point and shoot cameras), works with our straps. I use it on my Sony Mirrorless cameras but also on my Fujifilm Instax Mini 7 instant camera (see above), so I can shoot instant shots on my travels.
Alas, the ‘future of beauty’ opens tomorrow at the flagship Saks Fifth Avenue location in NYC! Today, Charlie and I took a sneak peek of the new beauty floor, which took a trip upstairs to the 2nd floor. No longer in the lobby the space could not be more epic!
Everything is white marble and so open with incredible lighting! The move and expansion includes 58 new brands to the floor, and a plethora of space to house them in! The new floor is 32,000 square feet and now features more than 120 color cosmetics, skincare, fragrance and wellness brands.
Buxom makes some of my favorite lip products so whenever they have a new launch, I’m all over it. While I’m not usually a gloss girl, it’s hard to escape the holographic trend and anything that promises to lip plump.
