NYFW: Dipped in Gold – A Desert Gypsy Treasure Backstage at Mara Hoffman Fall/Winter 2014 Collection
Famed make-up artist Alice Lane for Maybelline lead the makeup team for the Mara Hoffman Fall/Winter 2014 show creating a look that captured the spirit of a nomadic desert nymph. The collection was comprised of rich, printed fabrics saturated with striking colors and even though the look called for heavy liner, these runway Romany were easy on the eyes.
Country Meets Urban backstage at Tibi Fall/Winter 2014 Collection with Aveda, Bobbi Brown and JINsoon
Backstage at Tibi the beauty look mimicked the country girl meets urbanite inspired collection. Aveda Global Creative Director Antoinette Beenders did a center part straight hair look with an inch section inverted braid that goes through the center to the crown (below is the how to get the look).

NYFW: Trina Turk California Dreaming for Spring 2014
I was sifting through my New York Fashion Week pictures and was so inspired by the entire ambiance of Trina Turks Spring 2014 collection. While it’s gray and rainy in NYC, this collection has me dreaming of California road trips; warm weather, sparking beaches and pink sunsets. Inspired by a scenic route up the Pacific Coast Highway, the prints give the clothes vintage vibe and that crop top we’ve been seeing all season definitely has it’s place in this collection. Just hand me a pair of sunnies and sign me up!
For the hair, Martin Christopher Harper for Cutler Salon went with a textured, middle part beach wave using Redken Full Frame 07 Volumizing Mousse and Redken Rootful 06 Root Lifting Spray. Then followed with a curling iron and to create a soft wave before finishing off with Redken Fashion Work 12 Versatile Working Spray. New York Fashion Week: Front Row at NOON BY NOOR Spring 2014
I first learned about NOON BY NOOR at an event earlier this year. I was interviewing Ginnifer Goodwin and when I asked who she was wearing she called out the designer. That’s when my love affair with the brand began and upon receiving a ticket to the show to preview their Spring collection is where the love affair continued (especially being seated front row where I could truly appreciate every detail of the design). And I wasn’t the only one. Sitting across from me was Solange and Leigh Lezark in matching NOON BY NOOR prints.
BCBG Max Azria Spring Summer 2013 Collection

Nothing sparks the fire of New York Fashion Week like a major show to kick things off. A brand that is synonymous with major, BCBG Max Azria, brought the jolt you usually rely on from your extra shot of espresso first thing in the morning. Building on a subdued palette of neutral shades including nudes, clay, black, white and “color” coming from tones of coral, the vitality came from the mix of fabrics and touches of leather. Crepe, chiffon and lace graced many of the looks giving them a classic BCBG feel. However, it was the slightly aggressive pieces of textured fabrics that were formed in bondage-esq creations on top of many of the garments that gave an exciting and exotic feeling of newness. The danger in the edgy harnesses countered the romance of the flowing hemlines and soft fabric choices. The collection is a balance of ornate trends and glamorously wearable pieces, which is what we have come to love from BCBG.
NYFW: Catherine Malandrino Spring/Summer 2013 Fashion Presentation
Catherine Malandrino presented her Spring/Summer 2013 Black Label collection, MAJESTIC this past Sunday. First off, every time I see Catherine, I’m struck by how stunning she is. Bringing her Parisian style to the world of sportswear the collection played with different shapes and textures ranging from leather and suede to crochet pieces mixed and matched in this wearable collection. The color palette went from pure white to pastels in the soft blue/green to purple range.

DEIVIE Spring/Summer 2013 Uh-Oh! Preview
Fashion week is in full swing! And the lovely Michelle, blogger behind Amuse Bouche was nice enough to guest post for me and cover the DEIVIE Spring/Summer 2013 collection on behalf of Pretty Connected!

Quite frankly you can never plan ahead when it comes to your wardrobe, am I right?! So getting a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the upcoming Spring/Summer 2013 collections to see what’s ahead gets me one step closer. DEIVIE Spring/Summer 2013 Uh-Oh! preview has me excited for a playful mix pastels coupled with metallic accents!
The collection is inspired by the 60’s, specifically the movie Alfie — the remake with real life play boy Jude Law. This upcoming collection includes custom embroidery details on Peter Pan collared shirts, ornate bugle bead belts cinching the waists of skirts and dresses, mini dresses with whimsical wave hemlines and embroidery to enhance the female silhouette.
Sugar and spice and everything nice when it comes to this collection. Just like the candy they were serving out and snacking on. I mean, how can you resist a candy necklace?
Looks like metallics are here to stay! This season it’s the hottest trend for manicures and next Spring and Summer it’s the same game plan just mixed with soft hues and pastels.
