Dior Dismisses Galliano and Introduces the New Face of Miss Dior Cherie: Natalie Portman

Dior has had quite a week! After a video circulated on Monday where apparently an inebriated John Galliano said, “I love Hitler”, the designer was denounced by Dior ambassador Natalie Portman and later fired by Christian Dior.

Today the couturier, finally spoke out and said, “Anti-Semitism and racism have no part in our society. I unreservedly apologize for my behavior in causing any offence.” Well good luck fixing this mess Galliano! It’s such a tragedy that someone capable of so much beauty can be so ugly.

But the House must go on and I’m excited to share Dior’s new campaign starring Natalie Portman as the new face of Miss Dior Cherie! Notice in the video the bow-tie that a very seductive Portman (baby-bump free) takes from the gentleman is the headband used in the print campaign. Tres chic!

And of course they didn’t forget the swan!

Tea Party with Jo Malone

Limited Edition Tea Fragrance Blends

Would you like to have a tea party with Jo Malone? Yes, please!

Well come tomorrow, you can! Jo Malone is launching a collection of limited edition, travel-friendly Tea Fragrance Blends ($55). Inspired by British tradition (he’s going back to his English roots), it was only proper he create three classic tea base fragrances –Assam & Grapefruit, Earl Grey & Cucumber and Fresh Mint Leaf followed by two additional scents; Sweet Lemon and Sweet Milk, which can either be worn alone or on top of the tea scents.

So how do you take your tea? I’m a mint girl myself, so I previewed the Fresh Mint Leaf fragrance, and for creativity sake added Sweet Milk on top. Apparently I take my fragrance exactly the way I do my tea –with nothing added (okay, sometimes I mix in lavender-honey, but that wasn’t an option). The Sweet Milk was pleasant, but sweet –and since when

Literally this is the most complete show I’ve seen when it comes to the use of hats, gloves, scarves, bags and sunglasses and very much translated the happy hues of summer into fall. The burst of colors complimented each other so well, and was perfectly matched with a bold orange-red lip (by MAC Cosmetics) and straight hair (which I’m glad was kept simple as to

Backstage at Alexandre Herchcovitch Fall 2011 Show with Rolando Beauchamp for Bumble and Bumble

Of all the hairstyles I saw this season at Fashion Week, I’m giving the most creative award to Bumble and bumble for the Alexandre Herchcovitch Fall 2011 fashion show. Covering half the face, lead stylist, Rolando Beauchamp (for Bumble and Bumble) created a 6-way, side braid. Prompted by Alexandre Herchcovitch collection, which was inspired by violent forces of nature and circled around texture and layering. I mean seriously, is it just me or is this a masterpiece?

To show you what went into creating this look, I was able to capture a model having it done (alongside makeup and nails) in 15minutes! While that may be incredibly long for a YouTube video, it’s remarkable this model was able to undergo all three so quickly. And no, having hair, makeup and nails done all at the same time is generally not practiced– this particular model ran late in between shows, so you get to witness the abridged version of what generally happens backstage.

As you can see it takes about 6 hands to create that braid (I would not try it at home without assistance), although the look is easily translatable to the everyday woman—with some modifications. Create a side part, then make
