With the winter and holidays right around the corner, this is generally that time of year our skin begins to experience some of their ramifications. Here are some of my must haves to stay stress free (or at least look like it!), while combating winter dryness this season.  They also make great gifts, if for no one else, then yourself, and they get extra points for their great packing.

Kiehl’s Imperial Body Balm

open kiehlsI have really dry skin this time of year, so if I could (afford it) I would bathe in this stuff.  I love the packaging, the way it smells — a special blend of amber and vanilla essences — and most importantly, the result.  This product deeply hydrates my skin all day without being greasy or messy.  The gorgeous yellow coloring comes from the natural ingredient, Sea Buckhorn Berry, which is able to survive harsh climates and is known for its healing and protective properties.

More about the Balm:

  • Inspired by old-world Russian herbal remedies
  • Deeply hydrates, regenerates, and comforts extremely dry, lackluster skin
  • Accelerates cell turnover with honey and fruit glycolic acids to immediately reveal a new skin softness and radiance
  • High levels of antioxidant-rich butters help protect skin from environmental damage

ReVersital 3-in1 MidcrodermaStick

reverDuring a recent trip to Warren Tricomi, the beauty shop in The Plaza Hotel, I was introduced to ReVersital 3-in1 MidcrodermaStick.  The representative demonstrated on my hand how this product cleanses, resurfaces, and moisturizes.

Considering how amazing the skin on my hand felt, I knew I wanted to try and review this product.  After two weeks of using this product (3 times a week), my skin was glowing.  This is truly an extraordinary product and worth trying.

I made the mistake of bringing it home on a recent trip to Boston where I was hoping to get my mother’s opinion (and gather data to see how it works for a more mature skin).   Generally the only products she gets excited about are Cosmedix or Dr. Haushka; however, after her first experience with the ReVersital she wouldn’t

Burberry to Launch Cosmetic Line!

burberryWell color me plaid! — Burberry will be launching a cosmetic line in July of 2010.  The launch will consist of 100 new products for eyes, lips and skin.  All I can say is with Giorgio Armani, Calvin Klein, and Dolce & Gabbana out there, it’s about time we saw a little plaid on the shelves.  Speaking of which, I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE THE PACKAGING!

Carol’s Daughter Lemon Ginger Mint Manicure in a Jar

carols daughter
2 oz. $11.50

Directions: Rub gently and let the salt exfoliate, while the shea butter moisturizes.  Rinse off the excess salt and dry your hands.  Your hands will feel silky smooth in just a few seconds.

Holy smokes Batman! This product is serious stuff.  I scooped some out from the jar and rubbed the concoction all over my hands.  At first I questioned the ‘silky smooth’ result, considering how hard the salt was exfoliating my skin.  Then after rinsing the shea butter absorbed into my skin and BAM! My hands were the softest they’ve ever been.  Finish with a hand cream or just call it a day.

Please note, while the packaging says ‘with fragrance of vanilla, musk, and lemon balm,’ all I smell is the shea butter.  Sure if you inhale hard enough, you will get hints of the other ingredients. While I’m a fan of the restorative properties of shea butter, I’m not crazy about the smell.  But this product is so impressive; I’m willing to overlook it.  Now if only a hand massage and manicure came along with the product, I’d never step foot in a parlor again.  Until then …

This product does not contain parabens, sulfates or synthetic fragrances and dyes.

Kiehl’s lets you Express Your POW!

I’m so glad Mercury is out of retrograde today because it was really messing with me this past week.

First, I had all my above 3 oz. beauty products taken from me at the airport.

Soon to be a rarity

Prescriptives was once ranked among the top five brands in American department stores; but today is not that day, and I will admit, I’m part of the problem!  Years ago (ahem, many), I used to be one of their loyal foundation and moisturizer customers, but then one day, I just stopped.  I’m not sure why, I suppose I started trying different brands and falling in love with new products. Brand loyalty is so hard to find these days.
