Style Monday: Flammed Out for Icons+Idols

Happy Monday everyone! What a night with the VMA’s being in NYC last night. For this weeks #StyleMonday it seemed only appropriate to post last night/this AM’s outfit live from the red carpet of In Touch Weekly’s Icons and Idols VMA after party. I had the privilege of partnering with COVERGIRL as their red carpet corespondent for the event — celebrity interview highlights coming up soon, but first, the outfit, the hair, and of course the makeup (and nails!).

It’s the VMA’s so I was channeling my inner glam rocker (hence the hair), but instead of the conventional black on black, I went with more of a feminine white on white. From the moment I saw this Leila Shams beaded skirt

How to Establish an Effective Nighttime Routine #healthyskin

2013-07-23 21.04.37

We call it beauty sleep for a reason. When we shut down for the evening that’s when our skin goes into repair mode and renews itself. That’s why it’s important for us to get plenty of rest and stick to a nighttime routine that supports our bodies. Here are a few evening rituals I try to abide by to help put my best skin forward:

Claire Bowen & Sam Palladio Rock the Summer with Self Magazine

Claire Bowen & Sam Palladio

Last night, Self Magazine hosted their Rocks the Summer event in honor of their July music issue at NYC’s PH-D at the Dream Hotel Downtown. And what kind of music celebration would it be without some steller music, which was flown in straight from Nashville (literally and figuratively). Clare Bowen and Sam Palladio of the ABC hit series, Nashville, flew in from Nashville to perform 3 songs in front of the live audience; including their first duet together on the show, If I Didn’t Know Better. Lucy Danziger, editor-in-chief of Self Magazine, made a joke about all of us wanting to be Clare and wanting to date Sam, which judging by all the sighs in the room was pretty spot on. Whether or not you’ve seen the show, it was next to impossible to watch the performance and not consider yourself a fan. They are so talented (and handsome, and they have accents, she’s Australian, he’s British — just saying).

All the signature cocktails being served we’re inspired by different shades from the collection. And also seeing Snooki (there’s something I thought I’d never say), who is now the size of my pinky (no seriously, she’s like a size 0). It was impossible not to stare…

Dove + StyleCaster #RestoreYourSenses Hamptons Retreat

DOVE

Lately, it’s been real busy. And by lately, I mean the last year+ of my life. So anything labeled as restorative or relaxing I’m all over. Especially if the invite is coming from Dove and StyleCaster complete with an all inclusive to trip to the Hamptons. I’m listening…

Sun, Sand, Sandals: How to Stay Cool at the Beach

beach essentials

While you should never literally soak up the sun (at least not without a wide-brimmed hat and a minimum of SPF30), I can certainly understand wanting to spend every free minute at the beach. Personally, you can’t keep me away. Between the Hamptons, Rockaways and my upcoming trip to Costa Rica, I live for the weekends and my time by the water. When packing for the beach we start with the obvious: swimsuit, cover-up and wide-brim hat, flip-flops, towel(s) and/or something to lie on, beach bag, broad-spectrum sunscreen (with UVA/UVB protection), and of course sunnies.

Then comes the reading materials and music list, or beach games if you’re feeling especially sporty. If the humidity is getting to you here are some tips to help keep you looking fresh and refreshed throughout the day:

W Hotel Kicks off W Gangs of New York with The Virgins, Grandmaster Flash + Chris Keating of Yeasayer

Last night the W Hotels kicked off their artist collaboration with the W Gangs of New York A Battle for Music Supremacy at their Union Square location. This event was the first of what will be a whole summer music series where NYC’s heavyweight record labels will go head to head. Hosted by Michaelangelo L’acqua the evening kicked off with a live performance by The Virgins — which I was expecting a few songs, but it was a full on (and very well done) show. They are really good live! Followed by DJ Sets by Grandmaster Flash & Chris Keating of Yeasayer.

About the W Gangs of New York music seriesInspired by the cult classic New York film The Warriors; W Hotels of New York curates a unique musical soundclash launching from W Union Square. Initial me…

The monogram craze is nothing new, although my deep love and affection for anything with my initials and/or blog name has only seemed to grow with time! Call it vanity — although I prefer to think of it as more personalized or special but everything looks better with my initials on it!Monogram, c.wonder, baublebar, lands' end, pretty please

1. stella & dot Signature Initial Charms ($26 each) – Sterling silver initial charms. Simple and to the point, they are great on their own or mix and matched with other charms.

2. C. Wonder Reversible Pebbled Leather Belt Strap ($48) – C. Wonder has a whole section of their store and website dedicated to monogramming. The versatility of a reversible belt, plus initial combo is genius.

3. BaubleBar Medium Monogram necklace ($110) – This is a staple in my jewelry box and a great layering piece. It’s also available in silver and in a variety of sizes.

4. fleur du mal Say My Name Custom Monogram Panty ($98) – It doesn’t get any sexier then this pair of undies. (No seriously, find me a hotter pair). You can also have your name (or his…) written out, and is available in two shades of pink and your choice of thread color. Bridal shower gift anyone?

5. C. Wonder Wide Enamel Initial Bangle ($58) – as of the next time I go

More Than Meets the Eye with Fuze

This week, you may have noticed on Instagram I was tagging my adventures and favorite places using the hashtag #FUZENation. In partnership with Fuze Teas and Glam, the duo teamed up to celebrate individuals and the layers that make us who we are. My obvious label: fashion and beauty expert or blogger; however that’s only one part of my ever-curious, adventure-seeking personality.

I would also label myself as a closet DIY-er, wannabe runner and long-boarder, art lover, outdoors-woman, beach seeker, table tennis enthusiast (I’m SPiN New York’s #1 member), fantastic rummy and backgammon player and definite foodie. I’m also a bit of a townie…
