PC named Top 100 Beauty Bloggers to Bedeck and Bedazzle with Gifts by Sparkah!

Every morning it’s always the same routine, half wake up, reach for my iPhone and before even getting out of bed, check my email, twitter, and instagram before starting my day. This morning I woke up to a tweet from Robert Kim, marketing expert, social ninja and author congratulating me on making the list with a link!

When I clicked through, Pretty Connected was listed as Top 100 Beauty Bloggers to Bedeck And Bedazzle With Gifts, Literally by Sparkah. Such a compliment! Sparkah is new media business growth consultancy that develops strategic marketing alliances and exposes business to the top bloggers in their industry.

And there I am!! The bio they used is from my twitter profile from my handle @prettyconnected.

So if you’d like to shower me with gifts and compliments, you have Sparkah’s approval! Although I have to say that’s a slippery slope. Yes, it’s the blogger dream to be showered in beauty products,

Celebrating National Relaxation Day with Tommy Bahama (and upcoming NYC store launch)

Last night was an epically amazing evening filled with laughter, drinks and baseball – yup, I’m talking about National Relaxation Day with Tommy Bahama

Known for their relaxed, ‘island life’ style, the fashion brand brought their persona to life by treating us editors to an evening at Yankee Stadium. They had us so relaxed  at the upstairs bar suite, sipping our Bronx bomer beverages (featuring Tommy Bahama Rum), that I hardly noticed the rain delay was nearly 2 hours.

Then it was game on Yankees vs. Rangers and onto our box we went. In all my times at Yankee stadium, this was my first box experience, and it was awesome! I guess it’s Madison Sq. Garden that has me tainted since up until now I associate boxes with big plexi glass and being so far back you feel removed from the game – so not the case at Yankee Stadium. We had great views, no glass barriers, a stocked bar, and full on catering.

{Game on!}

While I’m not a Yankees fan (or Rangers fan for that matter) I did get a little glossy eyed when I ended up in the elevator with Brian Cashman — who was beaming over the Yankees win — and may or may not ended that ride by initiating some high-fives. (I’m the worst red sox fan on the planet.)

National Relaxation Day was just the beginning!  Launching in November, Tommy Bahama will premiere their first New York City Flagship store with what they call “Manhattan Island”. We’re talking in addition to a retail store carrying their apparel, footwear, accessories and homegoods collection; they will be opening a restaurant and bar. (It’s going to be massive!) The flagship will celebrate their “Life is One Long Weekend” philosophy which I fully support.

UrbanDaddy and Samsung Mobile host a “Picture Perfect Evening”

Last night, UrbanDaddy and Samsung Mobile hosted a “Picture Perfect Evening” at Gallow Green, the rooftop of the McKittrick Hotel. First off, for someone who almost didn’t make it  or know what to expect out of a Picture Perfect evening, I’d say UrbanDaddy and Samsung Mobile nailed it!

Gorgeous rooftop — I’d been to the McKittrick Hotel for Sleep No More — but never the rooftop bar, Gallow Green.

Exceptional jazz band to add to the ambiance…

Taraji P. Henson and Adrienne Bailon celebrate first anniversary of Courvoisier Rosé at NYC’s TOY

On Thursday night, Taraji P. Henson, Adrienne Bailon, Jennifer Williams, Kat Deluna (and the Pretty Connected team!) celebrated the first anniversary of Courvoisier Rosé at NYC hot spot, TOY in the Meatpacking District.

The bartenders served up refreshing Courvoisier Rosé cocktails while guests enjoyed h’orderves by Chef Doron Wong and music spun by DJ Brooklyn Dawn. Courvoisier Rosé is delicious! And certainly a summery, refreshing approach to cognac that is crafted with a blend of Courvoisier and premium French red wine grapes. And at 18% Alc/Vol, in comparison to it’s 40% Courvoisier original counterpart, it goes down easier and tastes closer to a Rosé then cognac.

Somehow when the cupcakes came out and the celebration kicked off, I was cornered in the back of the bar, while the celebs of the evening we’re surrounded by cameraman. And as a result I woke up to a swarm of the first two images picked up all over the internet with my face piercing out of the back ground.

{Taraji P. Henson celebrates first anniversary of Courvoisier Rosé — see me in the background?}

{Adrienne Bailon, Jennifer Williams, Kat Deluna cheers Courvoisier Rosé with cupcakes! — what about now, see me now? }

Since I was hanging out next to Adrienne Bailon, I couldn’t resist asking the Cheetah Girl who her outfit was by. She was so sweet, and excused herself to go have her friend check her tag and came back up to me to report it’s an ALC onesie — so cute! Love the back on it!

And on my first day of rocking my Modify watch (I literally got it in the mail that morning), I ran into the brands token marketing guy and could not resist an impromptu Modify Watches represent photo!

Taking time with Celebrity Hair Stylists Cherry Petenbrink and Mika Fowler

What happens when two of Beverly Hills most renowned celebrity hairstylists hit the NYC scene? I get one killer makeover and the opportunity to talk hair with two of the industry tops: Cherry Petenbrink and Mika Fowler.

{After a day with Cherry Petenbrink and Mika Fowler, I could be a hair model}

 Cherry Petenbrink, is a former salon owner turned celebrity stylist and color specialist– we’ve all seen her work on the big screen as the color consultant for the Hunger Games! Cherry also conducts regular workshops and trainings in the industry and is a member of the Joico’s elite Color Competency Team and Guest Artist for the brand.

Having dark hair sans grays, I’m challenged with limited color options. Cherry encouraged my pursuit of an Ombre (which will continue to trend through the fall/winter season) and introduced me to “Flash effects”, which offers a lightened effect that brightens the hair internally for a warmer softer look. Both are modern, with some edge while still managing to be polished and great for any age.

{With Cherry Petenbrink — Can you see my “Flash Effect”?}

What I appreciate about both color options is how well they compliment each other and require zero maintenance — they can grow out naturally without having to be redone, making them a very budget friendly option. Cherry’s trick when performing an Ombre or Flash Effect is to not work on a horizontal line (which just weighs hair down). Instead, Cherry works at a vertical

How do you Lands End Canvas: Women’s Fishing Net Sweater

You all know how much I love a style challenge! So when I was gifted this classic Women’s Fishing Net Sweater from Lands End Canvas, and asked to participate in a style project, I was all in. First off, everyone should have a few basic knits in their wardrobe (I have quite an assortment), they are incredibly versatile and one of the easiest pieces to transition from summer to fall!

First Look: Summer Casual – shorts and booties (flip flops/sandals also work).

{Lands’ End Canvas Fishing Net Sweater paired with Elevenses Puckered Plaid Shorts (available now at Anthropologie), vintage booties}

For a more polished look add a belt and jacket. It also goes great with a hat!

{Outfit add-on: Cartonnier Jacket (available at Anthropologie), B by Bill Adler Design belt, Goorin Bros. hat}

As you transition into fall, update your shorts with Khakis. Belt it in either a brown or red and add a casual shoes or wedge.

Are you an Aveeno Active Natural? Harboring Hearts is!

Do you remember how excited I was to be featured by AVEENO (in Elle Magazine no less!!) for their ACTIVE NATURALS campaign? If you need a refresher the print ad is below and the campaign centered around  AVEENO awarding eight grants in the amount of $10,000 to a different fan monthly (starting in May) who visited their Facebook page and  shared how they live as ACTIVE NATURALS and work to enrich, engage, and encourage a beautiful change in their community.

The concept can conceived from AVEENO’s belief that the ACTIVE NATURALS® ingredients in their products help care for skin and hair to make a healthier, more beautiful difference. So this year, they decided to focus on how people can live as ACTIVE NATURALS® — each one of us has the power to make a difference in the lives of our family and friends, and in our communities.

Woot woot, my AVEENO Active Naturals print campaign

Lets just say I was so excited about the campaign, and all the good Aveeno was up to that I obviously posted about it, tweeted it non-stop, turned to Facebook… (I mean I did everything short of make a t-shirt and wear it everyday). Well I’m so glad I did, because in all of my social media promotion, one of my readers entered her very worthy charity, Harboring Hearts, and was the June’s recipient!
