After last weeks trip to North Carolina I was a mess. My stomach was over traveling. I was feeling puffy like you don’t even know from my unstoppable salt intake (I blame my soy sauce addiction), and I was in no way feeling any type of bikini ready for my trip to Cancun. Truth be told back to back traveling is exciting but it takes a mega toll on your body, and if I’m being honest my stomach has been in knots since the election which hasn’t helped anything. My body does not handle stress well. This is my first weekend back in NY for the foreseeable future and I decided to take advantage of it. Cleanse, workout and sleep (in between the massive amount of work I had to get done). I did the 3 day Blueprint Cleanse which I usually do every year (but need to upgrade to every 3-6 months). Full review below! My friends at Six:02 also hooked me up with Reebok’s HOT new Perfect Never” collection featuring Gigi Hadid — she looks amazing in the campaign boxing and being fabulous like she does. I haven’t been working out lately because of all the traveling and whenever I break my habits, I have such a hard time getting back into it! Having actual time this weekend and this sick outfit and beautiful weather definitely helped kick my a$$ back into running and more importantly stretching.

Surfs up with Clif Bar

Last week was a long week. I went from Fashion Week to hosting a charity event on Friday to jumping in my car and driving to Montauk for an awesome, action packed weekend with Clif Bar. Before I get into my awesome weekend (and believe me, it was awesome), my friend Liz asked me a question on Friday I’ve been thinking about all week, “How do I get your energy”.

clif-bar-peanut-butter

In my mind she takes on more than me so I found the question funny. Although I’m asked it often enough that I should have a reasonable answer.  In truth I’ve always thought of myself as leading a double life. I’m very active in the fashion/beauty blogging community and often at events but on my spare time all I want to do is travel and be outside, whether it be hiking, snowboarding or something as simple as going for a walk. My boyfriends even slowly turning me into a camper, which we do often enough that I can probably claim that title. I’m a really active person and it’s not easy with my schedule. I accidentally skip meals all the time but I’m very keen on keeping my energy up since I do need to stay focused.

JCPenney x WWE Tapout Event with Dolph Ziggler + Charlotte

What a whirlwind of a week! As some of you know I took a break from my New England tour yesterday to head back to NYC for 16 hours to join my friends at WWE and JCPenney at the Manhattan Mall for the launch of the WWE’s Tapout performance apparel line for women. Hosted by WWE Superstars and Tapout Brand Ambassadors Dolph Ziggler and Charlotte at the Manhattan Mall, there was a line wrapped around the basement level and up through the escalator and around the first floor for the #Summerslam event!

The Tapout brand stands for motivation, discipline and determination – all of which you saw from the crowd waiting patiently in line to meet Dolph and Charlotte. Before they opened the event to the pubic I had a few moments with the duo — just enough time to ask Charlotte her must have beauty product – “Flower Gel by Sisley” and her best de-stress tip, “Sleep”. Two things I heavily endorse. Followed by a photo opp with them!

Dolph is wearing the Tapout Warrior Graphic Tee ($22, on sale $12.99), I’m wearing the Tapout Power Button Knot Tank ($22, on sale $16.99), and Charlotte is in the Tapout Graphic Tank Top ($22, on sale for $16.99).

The range includes training and compression tees, sports bras, tank tops, pants and shorts that are all affordably priced from $12.99 – $29.99. The women’s collection joins the existing men’s line, which also features training and compression tees, tanks, shorts and pants and ranges in price from $12.99 – $32.99.

Thank you to WWE Tapout and JCPenney for partnering with me on this post!

I Interviewed and worked out with Dominique Dawes and Tide Pods

dominque-dawes-interview-gymnastics-olympics

Last week I took a gymnastics class with Dominique Dawes as part of the Small But Powerful Tide Pods event. She’s one of the Magnificent Seven and was literally one of my child heroes. Coupling that with my major Olympic fever I consider it a win that I managed to not pass out during my interview with her — although her workout had me sore for two days. Tide is a sponsor of the Olympics and of Dawes and Simone Biles who both appear in their The Evolution of Power video. Drawing parallels on how detergents have evolved from large amounts of powder, to a cup of liquid and now Tide Pods. It illustrates how the amounts of detergent have gotten smaller over time and more powerful.  Biles exemplifies this #smallbutpowerful message, ruling the sport at 4 feet 8″. Check out their campaign video:

I think it’s great, since at 5′ 9″, I now have an excuse as to why my splits looks like this…

Dawes led us in a stretch and gymnastics 101 class before the instructors took over to have us use the facility at Chelsea Piers, while we rotated having 1 on 1 interviews with her. dominque-dawes-tidepods

My Interview with Dominique Dawes:

PC: What would go through your head when you’re competing at the Olympics?

DD: I try to take myself back to my home gym, the gym that I started at in Wheaton, Maryland… Because that was where I started, where I fell in love with the sport, and where it was fun. It wasn’t a back job then so I would always have that vision in my head when I was competing.

PC: What are your top 3 beauty products?

DD: My top three are water, Black African Soap and natural, organic Shea Butter. (Brands were not specified).

PC: What is your best stress management tip

DD: Breathing. Relax, take a deep breath and count to 10. Because when you’re not relaxing and you’re not breathing, and you’re not just taking things in and putting them into perspective, you over analyze. And that’s when paralyze yourself from doing things.

PC: What is your biggest stress management tip?

DD: Taking one step at a type. I used to be very type A and it was all about productivity, productivity, plan, plan, plan. But now as a mother of two and being a wife it’s about taking one step at a time and if you don’t get it all done, oh well there’s going to be another day ahead if you’re blessed.

For anyone that missed Biles Small but Powerful Tide Pods commercial it’s worth a watch:

Thank you Tide for this truly special experience!

Healthy Body from the Inside out: My Top Supplements

bose-fitness-postYesterday, I got a very flattering text from my little brother saying I was ripped! And looking at this picture I can see why (mind you reaching your hands up does wonders for your definition).  I felt really good getting such a nice compliment since in all honesty, I’ve been feeling quite sluggish and out of it lately. I’ve only just started getting back into running and I’ve been so busy I’ve been completely off my work-out game. I’m traveling every weekend for the next 3 weeks and it’s been a repeat pattern of the past 2 months where my schedule is so wonky I can’t get into a routine. In fact carrying Charlie everywhere with me has been my new workout.hum-nutricion-beauty-dust-aloha-thin-tea

Since I talk a lot about working out and fitness in general, I wanted to spotlight some of the supplements I have on rotation. What I like about all of these is they are healthy and gentle on the system. They don’t make me feel sick the way vitamins sometimes do and can be taken together or individually without side effects. None of them are diet pills or laxatives but help keep my body – from my waist to my skin and hair – clean and some extra nutrients to compliment my diet and also beauty products I use topically.

Bose SoundSport Wireless Headphones

bose-soundsport-headphone

In early June right before Bose released their new headphones, I was fortunate enough to get a sneak peek at the new headphones and test them out. Bose is undoubtably the headphone masters but what they were able to do in these latest launches is take everything to the next level by elevating the sound and making them wireless. For headphones it was with the launch of the noise canceling QC35 Wireless Headphones ($349.95) and for all my fell runners and fitness friends, the new Soundsport Wireless Headphones ($149.95). From the moment I demoed the Soundsport at the event, I was counting down the days to the launch.

Finding earbuds for when you run in this heat is so hard! These are sweatproof, weatherproof — rain, sweat or shine you’re covered. They clip to the back of my sport bra so at any point I can drop them down around my neck without worrying about them falling off.  The earbud portion comes with three different silicone inserts so you can match your perfect inner ear size which locks into the bud which creates an umbrella shape that suctions in your ear which the extended wing locks up for a comfortable fit that doesn’t move.

Lean in 15 with Joe Wicks

On Tuesday I joined personal trainer and global fitness sensation Joe Wicks aka @TheBodyCoach for his signature HIIT (high intensity interval) workout and launch of his new cookbook, Lean in 15. Three days later, I’m still feeling the burn in muscles I didn’t know I had.

Fitness Style: How to Take Your Outfit from Day to the Gym

Thank you Vocalpoint and DICK’S Sporting Goods for sponsoring this post!Dick's-Sporting-Goods-Under-Armour-Sports-bras

On Monday I had to be in Westchester to test out a salon and on my way over stopped at DICK’S Sporting Goods in White Plains to stock up on some new workout gear. They carry so many of my favorite brands including Brook’s Running, Nike, Adidas, Reebok, Under Armour… basically every major women’s fitness brand that is both fashionable and functional. The athleisure trend has full on taken over my life ever since I started cycling twice a week and going to the gym to get into shape for my People StyleWatch bathing suit shoot (coming out in May!) and now gearing up for LA and Coachella — gotta get my beach bod on…

Dick’s Sporting Goods Haul: Under Armour outfit, Brooks Running Glycerin 13 shoes

Being constantly on the go and the fact that you can’t wear workout clothes twice without washing them has has me hoarding fitness attire. Shopping the aisles, DICK’s has a great assortment of basics and prints and name brands at great prices. Plus the store is massive so there is a ton of women’s apparel and sneakers to pick from.
Under-Armour-outfit

Being an fitness enthusiast has taught me a few things beyond getting into shape, mainly how to take an outfit from brunch friendly or running errands to the gym. My latest DICK’S haul included the following Under Armour outfit and Brooks Running Sneakers (featured above):

Taking the outfit above from fitness to fashionable only required a top and shoe swap (and an added kimono for good measure):

I’m wearing the Under Armour Capris and Sports Bra in the look above. I strategically fit my Brooks Running sneakers in a medium size purse so I don’t have to carry an extra gym bag. For any fellow cyclers (I go to Cyc), my membership includes shoe rentals which makes it even easier. When I’m

Wellness Finds from the Chopra Center: Tea, Jam and Supplements to Get You Through Winter

chopra-center-tea-and-suppliments

For this weeks Wellness Wednesday, we’re talking teas and supplements from the Chopra Center! My last few posts were centered around fitness (the yoga retreat I did at Kripalu and the Cyc bike challenge I’m doing to raise money for the Challenged Athletes Foundation) and now I’m diving deeper into what I put in my body and taking a more holistic approach to health and wellness.

Some of you may be familiar with The Chopra Center (and it’s founder Deepak Chopra, M.D), which celebrates it’s 20th anniversary this year!  While their grounds are based in California, the Chopra Center offers online programs and an online gift shop filled with yoga & meditation gear and dvds, books, bath & body products, aromatherapy, supplements & herbs and so much more. With winter in full effect (thank you Jonas for reminding us it’s no longer spring in NY), the last thing I want is to get sick — I’m very sensitive to abrupt climate change and since I travel so much, I try to keep my immune system up.
