Fashion Week Eats: Collagen soup anyone?

When I hear the word collagen a picture comes to mind of overly puffed lips and The Real Housewives of New Jersey. This is not the case for chef Takashi Inoue of Takashi and beauty expert Hinako Israel. Inspired by the fact that “we are what we eat” these two have teamed up to create a “beauty from within” menu for fashion week that works to nourish the skin and boost the immune system by eating items that include collagen.

Delicacies include flash boiled achilles and ox foot. This menu is not for the faint of heart, but might be for those working toward a healthy heart, beautiful skin, and a strong body.

All Aboard the Cynthia Rowley and BAND-AID’s Glambulance

I am obsessed with the Cynthia Rowley BAND-AID’s that launched last year. Like literally OBSESSED! I stalked them at an event once gushing over them only to find out that they were limited edition and no longer available. I’ve been rationing them ever since. Then I got an email right before fashion week started that BAND-AID is bringing them back! And hitting the streets during fashion week in their “Glambulance” to offer solution to your style woes. This repurposed ambulance will be fully equipped with a hair stylist, seamstress, make-up artist Mickey Williams, and fashionable First-Aid supplies. I’m so excited, and considering my obsessions for the brand they have asked yours truly to be a “fashion emergency” ambassador for the brand.

The BAND-AID® Brand by Cynthia Rowley Adhesive Bandages ($4.25) come in a variety of 7 designs, including gems, sequins, lace, gold chains and a runway show. They will be available on CynthiaRowley.com starting today, and at mass retailers in December 2011.

WHEN & WHERE YOU CAN FIND THE GLAMBULANCE:

  • Thursday, September 8th, 4 p.m.-12 a.m. (Fashion’s Night Out)
  • Glambulance stationed at 5th Ave. and 52nd S

Make sure to enter the Fashion Malfunction Facebook Contest during Fashion Week and tell them your worst fashion emergency story for the chance to win a $2,500 Cynthia Rowley fashion spree and styling session. Visit www.Facebook.com/Band-Aid to enter! Or

Dr. Martens Wants to Hear About YOUR First Time

Do you remember Dr. Martens? Of course you do. You rocked a pair in High School or maybe your favorite history teacher did and you thought they we’re super cool. Few brands have that “I remember my first [pair of Dr. Martens]…” appeal and in recognition of this unique positioning, Dr. Martens has launched their #FIRSTANDFORVER Campaign. Running from their fall 2011 campaign through fall 2012, the campaign broadens it’s scope to not just your first pair of Dr. Martens (although they’d love to hear that story) but rather your first _____. That’s right, you fill in the blank. Whether it’s your first love or heartbreak, job or otherwise the brand is turning to social media to connect with their consumers to learn more about their ‘first’s’ and offer an outlet to share an opening statement of self-expression and creativity.

As I sat in a room with my fellow bloggers –lead by renouned bloggers/photographer Scott Schuman (The Sartorialist) and Garance Dore we shared our first. It was something out of a fictional kids slumber party –all that was missing was us stripping down to our underwear and having a pillow fight. We heard about one girls first (and last) beauty pageant – which after the

Totally Fall-ing for Sock It To Me

Stockings, tights, socks and everything in between – I just love it.  Come fall, I start planning my outfits around my leg wear so you can understand how thrilled I was to discover a new outlet for my irrational passion – Sock It To Me.

Are You Ready for New York Fashion Week?

I am, I am! Ehhhhhh! The Spring 2012 shows are upon us, and I just got my official press pass to Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week! Joining all the big-wigs of the fashion industry, I’ll be covering the makeup backstage and the fashion shows. Crew (are you as excited as I am?), Honor, Candela,

Let Me Express My Love for Wacoal Lingerie

No, this is not me, but it is my new Wacoal bra!

I recently attended an event for Wacoal, which included a bra fitting and I can’t express my love and gratitude enough for this brand! First off I’ll start by confessing that I’m a 32DD –although if you’ve ever met me you’d probably swear I wasn’t above a B cup (unless you’ve seen me in a bathing suit). And I strive to keep it that way!

I know it’s a tough sell as a complaint and I’m a disgrace to women everywhere who want implants. I’m reminded regularly, but frankly I didn’t ask for this size, or the challenges of finding a button down shirt that doesn’t involve gaping at the chest or a dress that doesn’t require being taken in to accommodate my disproportion. And if that’s not enough of an excuse, two words: Back Pain.

And my least favorite part of it all, bra shopping! Especially with brands that believe in vanity sizing or that include padding their larger cup sizes (I mean seriously?). And don’t even get me started on

Betsey Johnson’s New Fragrance “Too Too”

By Elizabeth Borenstein

Betsey Johnson holding her signature Too Too Fragrance

Betsey Johnson’s newest fragrance, Too Too, pays homage to her dancer roots. The adorable bottle wearing a bustier, tutu, and fishnets holds an interesting concoction. Using fruity and floral notes, including mandarins, ginger, bulgarian rose and patchouli, the scent registers as pleasantly sweet.

Performance by the Bolshoi Ballet Academy

To celebrate the introduction of Too Too the designer hosted a delicious brunch at MILK Studios complete with pink iced cupcakes. The real treat was singing Happy Birthday to the ridiculously fit and stunning Betsey Johnson. She then promptly upstaged performances by Stephen Petronio Company and dancers from the Bolshoi Ballet Academy when she jumped into the air and did the splits. We should all be that flexible on our 69th birthday!

Too Too, launching October 2011, will be sold exclusively at Sephora.
