Neutrogena Beauty Wonderland Chat with Emma Roberts

Screen Shot 2014-11-19 at 5.20.51 PM

On Monday night, Neutrogena threw their annual holiday party, turning Paintbox in SoHo into a glittering white “Beauty Wonderland”. The event, in partnership with Rogaine, Rembrandt, BaubleBar, and Band-Aid, was hosted by Neutrogena brand ambassador Emma Roberts. Between mini makeovers with Amy Oresman, holiday hairstyling with Neutrogena Brand Ambassador Sam Leonardi, and polishing our fingertips with Paintbox, we caught up with the gorgeous star of American Horror Story, Emma Roberts to chat about winter beauty!

PC: What is your #1 seasonal beauty transition tip?

Emma Roberts: “Keep using SPF! So many people stop using sunscreen in the winter for some reason. I’m fair skinned and I made the mistake once when it was overcast and I never will again! I burn at the sight of the sun. “

PC: Do you stick to a fall/winter routine?

Emma Roberts: “Yes, always stick to a routine. If you’re not washing your face every night, it’s going to make dryness worse. Wash your face nightly and put your moisturizer on every morning. Don’t ever forget to take off your make-up. That’s why I keep Neutrogena Make-up Remover Cleansing Towelettes in my purse, in my bathroom, and everywhere else so I have no excuse not to take it off.”

PC: What do you think of the “bare face” trend?

Emma Roberts: “I like the bare face especially because so many girls hide behind a ton of make-up. It’s nice when you have make-up on but look like yourself. You’re accentuating your features instead of hiding behind the product.”

PC: How do you achieve a natural look?

Emma Roberts: “I use Neutrogena’s Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup in Classic Ivory. You can use it all over your face but I also use it just as concealer under my eyes and around my nose and chin. Then, I use the Healthy Lengths Mascara. It’s so easy and looks naturally pretty. I also carry the MoistureSmooth Color Sticks in every color in my bag to change my look by my lip color. They are so sheer you can also layer them on top of each other.”

PC: Since you’re always traveling, do you do any beauty treatments on the plane?

Emma Roberts: “I see girls in full-face make-up and I’m scrubbing mine off in the bathroom. Since most beauty products get confiscated, I carry the Make-up Remover Cleansing Towelettes, which they can’t take away from me! Once, I saw a girl putting stilettos on to get off the plane and I was putting on fuzzy socks from Target. I wondered if I was missing something. “

Drinks with Jenny McCarthy (that will boost your energy)

jenny mccarthy

I met Jenny McCarthy a few years back when I was on the red carpet doing interviews for COVERGIRL during a VMA party, and I was such a fan girl. I’m from the generation of Singled Out, and she was one of the first woman I observed being so confident and sexy while still being so approachable and down to earth. And that’s something that hasn’t changed or faltered from her TV to real life persona.

Orange Is The New Black Save the Garment Center

One of my favorite nights from fashion week was when Caravan Stylist Studio asked me to host an event for Save the Garment Center with members of the cast of Orange is the New Black and Boardwalk Empire, plus some designers that are MADE IN NY!

Fashion week is done! Now comes the fun part of going through my notes and sharing all the behind the scenes commentary from backstage at the shows and parties.

On Wednesday night I got my denim on when Cosmopolitan Magazine invited me to join their Emerging Designer Showcase, which was followed by the Jean Scene After Party, presented by the LYCRA® brand.

Both the Showcase and After Party took place at The Glasshouses in NYC. The Showcase featured a runway show by up-and-coming label, ROOMEUR, designed by Hagit Kassif. Then came the After Party, which included models strutting their stuff in jeans from DL1961 Premium Denim, Joe’s, and Hudson Jeans. What do jeans from these three brands have in common? They all feature LYCRA® fiber technology which is used to give jeans an amazing fit that lasts so they won’t stretch out or sag.

For the event, DL1961 Premium Denim outfitted me in a pair of Florence INSTASCULPT Skinny jeans. They contain all the amazing benefits of LYCRA® fiber, including 4-way stretch so they contour your body. The customized fit with 360° stretch is perfect for my lifestyle – especially during fashion week when I’m running around.

I actually premiered them earlier in the week when I hosted an event with cast members of Orange is the New Black for Save the Garment Center (which is all about promoting production of garments in New York). And seeing as the jeans were made in the USA, and are so flattering (and comfortable!), they were the perfect choice for the evening.

L.A. COLORS ‘Brush with Fame’ Challenge #5: Sizzlin Style – Get the Look: David Bowie, Rita Ora, Cara Delevingne

Brush With Fame contest

So here we have it, the final challenge in the In Touch Weekly, Life & Style Weekly, L.A. Colors ‘Brush with Fame’ competition! For our final crusade we are tasked with picking 3 of our favorite celebrity style icons and need to showcase how you can get the look from head to toe using L.A. Colors. Now I love Nicole Richie, Blake Lively and Rachel Bilson’s style but when it comes to their makeup they have similar nude makeup looks (and I only had room for 1 celebrity with a nude look). Plus with a brand like L.A. Colors, that has so much pigment and color to play with, I wanted to push myself to do three very different looks that featured celebs with amazing beauty and fashion style. So for the sake of diversity and my love for playing with different colors and looks (and celebrities that I consider artists when it comes to dressing), I went with Rita Ora, Cara Delevingne and my ultimate #1 in live, David Bowie. This challenge was a whole lot of fun, so enjoy!

{David Bowie Inspiration Labyrinth meets Ziggy Stardusts}

David Bowie style

David Bowie is just the ultimate. As my girl Susan Sarandon recently described him when revealing she had a “wild love affair” with him decades ago, “He’s worth idolizing. He’s extraordinary… just a really interesting person, and so bright. He’s a talent, and a painter, and… he’s great.” That’s like everything I’ve always assumed about him and more. He’s original, and a true artist head to toe. And for this look I got to use eyeshadow for blush, lipstick for eyeshadow — And took his styling from Labyrinth as inspiration for the outfit and Ziggy Stardust for the makeup and nails (for which used L.A. Colors Color Craze Nail Polish in Glam). In this look I’m wearing D&G sequins leggings, Modern Vice red shoes, Aryn K ruffle top, with a mens YSL velvet jacket.

Located in NYC’s Soho at 433 West Broadway, the two floor location features full size products across beauty, from color, hair, skincare and nails. And even features a BYOB (Build Your Own Box) room where you can pick samples to create a custom box.

From the launch party, to the next day for the official opening, I was there to celebrate this major milestone with all of my friends at Birchbox. The opening party attracted the likes of  Jamie Chung, Abigail Breslin, Jessica Szohr, Hannah Bronfman, Julie Henderson, Leilani Bishop, Nick Wooster, Rick Pipino, and Carmidy. As well as many of the founders and teams behind the brands carried at Birchbox who all celebrated alongside Birchbox Co-Founders Hayley Barna and Katia Beauchamp.

Patricia Field Celebrates 2 Years Anniversary at Bowery Location

On Thursday night, the House of Field boutique celebrated it’s 2 year anniversary at it’s location at 306 Bowery in NYC.  The massive 2 floor store is like a museum, filled with so much color and creative expression — and fun fact, the location used to be Patricia Field’s home! Presented by New York Natives and hosted by the woman of the hour, stylist Patricia Field, it felt like a house party, and I’m so glad I was able to celebrate this wonderful milestone. Plus I finally got to meet Pat’s pups!
