Oscar Favorites: Get the Look! Emma Stone, Michelle Williams, and Gwyneth Paltrow

Last night, we celebrated the 84th annual Academy Awards. With a lot of awards being passed out, I’m giving the best red-carpets looks to to Emma Stone, Michelle Williams, Rooney Mara and Gwyneth Paltrow! Although Octavia Spencer also deserves a shout out for glowing head-to-toe in Tadashi Shoji.  Here’s the inside scoop on the beauty looks and how-tos for some of my favorite leading ladies:

EMMA STONE (wearing Giambattista Valli):

HAIR: Emma had a fresh and modern bun with an elegant twist created by Mara Roszak for Couture Colour

“I wanted to keep Emma’s hair structured without feeling too stiff and the bun allowed for her look to be simple and elegant yet fresh,” said Roszak.

She began by using Couture Colour Pequi Oil Treatment on Emma’s wet hair working the product in from the ends and working up to keep her locks looking healthy and shiny. Roszak then blow-dried it straight keeping it sleek and simple in front. To create the bun, Mara pulled hair into a mid-height ponytail and began wrapping pieces of hair keeping it loose and wide and securing each piece with bobbypin. She then finished the look with Couture Colour’s Pequi Oil Finishing Polish to complete the look.

BODY GLOW: Emma basked in a pastel tan thanks to Rachel Goodwin for St. Tropez, who used their Rose Skin Illuminator on Emma’s arms, shoulders and collar bones to add a pink undertone to compliment her dress.

MICHELLE WILLIAMS (wearing Louis Vuitton):

HAIR: Michelle Williams was fashionably glamorous with her blonde pixie by Chris McMillan for Couture Colour and Wella Professionals.

Chris began by using Couture Colour Pequi Oil Treatment on Michelle’s short hair to keep it fresh and vibrant without weighing it down. Then applied Sebastian Professional Mousse Forte to wet hair, and let it to air dry. With a small round brush, he finished off with a blow dry to give the hair more height. Then used his hands to set the part and bangs and finish with Wella Professionals Stay Essential Finishing Spray to set in place.

Chris says, “The reason I love the Wella products is that they are light and don’t weigh the hair down as the night wears on.  Some stylers can actually make the hair look darker if they’re too heavy, but with the Wella hairspray hair is shiny and touchable.”

GWYNETH PALTROW (wearing Tom Ford):

TAN: Gwyneth Paltrow complemented her white gown (complete with cape) with a  flawless tan created by Leslie Lopez for St. Tropez; using their Gold Skin Illuminator on her cheek bones, brow bone, and collarbone.

MAKEUP: Gwyneth Paltrow then worked with celebrity makeup artist, Leslie Lopez using NARS Cosmetics to enhance her sun-kissed glow.

“It’s elegantly bronzed,” said celebrity makeup artist Leslie Lopez for NARS Cosmetics. “The dress makes such a statement, but it also has no color, so we needed to create a makeup look that complemented the dress and was still sophisticated enough for the red carpet. I really loved the Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer because it gives a sun-kissed look to her skin, and perfect against a white dress!”

Here are the products Leslie used so you can recreate the look:

FACE – NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30 PA +++, with Super Orgasm Illuminator patted onto the apples of the cheeks.

EYES – The champagne side of NARS Alhambra Duo Eyeshadow was applied on the eyelid for a pop of gold, followed by a Maybelline brown liquid eyeliner along the lashline. The look was then finished with NARS Larger Than Life Volumizing Mascara.

LIPS – NARS Odalisque Larger Than Life Lip Gloss

As for my other favorite look (and new girl crush), Rooney Mara, she wowed the crowd with her edgy bangs and bold lips; which perfectly contrasted her stunning Givenchy gown. I wish I had more details to offer as it’s now time for me to scour the internet in search of that red lipstick!

Oh my GOODNESS…

Oh my GOODNESS, is right! As some of you know, as of last NYFW season I began working with the supermodel/philanthropist, Elettra Wiedemann on her 4-day fashion week pop-up restaurant concept, GOODNESS, which was founded on the principles of providing a wide audience, affordable, locally sourced food, by a rotating line-up of celebrity chefs.

After such an amazing response in September, Elettra brought GOODNESS back for the Fall 2012 NYFW season. Hosted by CIRCA and The Daily Front Row, GOODNESS was housed at the Robert on the 9th floor of the Museum of Arts and Design from February 11 – 14th, and featured an amazing line-up of rotating chefs which included: Mario Batali of Babbo, Leo Forneas of ROBERT, Alain Allegretti of La Promenade des Anglais and Julian Medina of Toloache. And to add to the excitement, GOODNESS earned the CFDA’s Health Initiative Stamp of Approval.

We also took over the 7th floor of the museum to create the GOODNESS Lounge by Renaissance Hotels. Designed as a comfortable “living room” space for guests to relax and recharge. The GOODNESS Lounge by Renaissance Hotels also featured a touch-up station by Lancôme and massages by Equinox. CIRCA, the world’s leading global buyer of fine jewelry, showcased their collection of recycled, sustainable luxury jewelry in the lounge. As you may remember (I posted about the competition!), GOODNESS partnered with Talenthouse to choose a winning resident DJ for the lounge. Our winner, DJ Travisty was a gem and kept the beats going and the lounge popping.

Day 1 was a blur! Mario Batali was in the kitchen and naturally we we’re booked the entire day. We also had a little kick-off party to toast Elettra and the chefs. We were joined by Elettra’s mother, Isabella Rossellini, as well as fashion friends, Monique Pean, Michelle Harper, Laura Brown, Mickey Boardman, Lorenzo Martone, and Jon Emperson aka Lypsinka.

After that we cruised through the next 3 days, welcoming guests, coordinating interviews and trying everything we could possibly could on the menu. I’m so lucky to work with the most amazing team that made going to work everyday so fun and be apart of such an innovative concept.

GO team GOODNESS!

You haven’t heard the last of GOODNESS… aside from a return in future New York Fashion Weeks, expect appearances in Paris, London, Doha and Miami.

2012 SAG Awards Hairstyles: Create the look of Emma Stone, Zoe Saldana, Michelle Williams, Kyra Sedgwick and Busy Phillips

Last night at the Screen Actors Guild Awards,  Wella Professionals rocked the red carpet; styling (and in some cases coloring) the locks of some of our favorite “it” girls including Emma Stone, Zoe Saldana, Michelle Williams, Kyra Sedgwick and Busy Phillips.

Looking to recreate these looks at home? Here’s how:

Emma Stone

Styled by Mara Roszak for Wella Professionals

“Emma’s dress was my inspiration. I wanted to create a smooth, polished up-do with a bit of a modern 50’s feel.” – Says Mara Roszak of the hairstyle she created for Emma Stone at tonight’s Screen Actors Guild Awards®.

Step-by-Step Styling

1. Part the hair to the side then apply Wella Professionals Velvet Amplifier to wet hair and blow dry smooth

2. Add a pump of Wella Professionals Mirror Polish to hands and apply lightly to hair, starting at the ends, to smooth out any fly aways

3. Tease the crown of the hair to add a little height and pull into a mid-height ponytail

4. Twist the ponytail and then wrap into a bun and secure with bobby pins

5. Spray all over with Wella Professionals Stay Firm hairspray

Zoe Saldana

Styled by Mara Roszak for Wella Professionals

“Zoe’s dress was so inspiring. I wanted to create a “not too perfect” up-do by adding texture and movement to the hair, while keeping it modern and fresh.” – Says Mara Roszak of the hairstyle she created for Zoe Saldana at tonight’s Screen Actors Guild Awards®.

Step-by-Step Styling

1. Apply Wella Professionals Extra Volume Mousse to wet hair and rough dry

2. Then, using a 3/4″ barrel curling iron, add waves to the hair by rotating the direction of the curl

3. Once the whole head was waved, spray Wella Professionals Ocean Spritz on the hair to break up the wave and add texture

4. Loosely pull the hair back into a low pony  and secured it with an elastic

5. Then split the pony into two sections and braid them both, then wrap the braids into a bun and secure with bobby pins

6. Once the hair is up, apply a dab of  Wella Professionals Bold Move styling paste to fingertips and define a few pieces around the face

7. Spray all over with Wella Professionals Stay Firm finishing spray

Michelle Williams

Styled by Chris McMillan for Wella Professionals

1. Wash the hair using Wella Professionals Enrich Shampoo and Conditioner, which is super moisturizing without sacrificing volume, no matter your hair style or length

2. Finger-dry hair with Wella Professionals Extra Volume Mousse on fingertips, guiding the hair into a deep side part

3. Apply Chris’ favorite product, Wella Professionals Shimmer Delight shine serum, liberally to fingertips and brush through for maximum shine

Kyra Sedgwick

Haircolor by Aura Friedman for Wella Professionals

To add color and softness to Kyra’s cheeks and bone structure, Aura painted on her highlights for a soft look and brightening the ends all over. Then, she applied a gold-toned gloss for extra shine and warmth.

Styled by Chris McMillan for Wella Professionals

1. Liberally apply Wella Professionals Extra Volume Mousse to wet hair before blowing out for maximum volume

2. Spritz Wella Professionals Thermal Image to dried hair, especially focusing on the ends, to protect the hair from damage caused by heat styling

3. Separate the hair in different sized sections, curling the hair with a 1” barrel curling iron

4. Then, brush out the curls and blow dry the hair again using a round boar-bristle brush to keep the curls from looking too manufactured

Busy Phillips

Styled by Chris McMillan for Wella Professionals

1. To recreate Busy’s slightly imperfect bohemian braid, apply Wella Professionals Natural Volume Mousse before blowing out the hair

2. Brush the hair out once dry for extra fullness

3. Pull a 1 ½ inch section of hair from just above the arch of your brow, loosely braiding hair across the forehead while pulling small pieces into the braid, secure with an elastic

4. Liberally spray the hair with Wella Professionals Dynamic Fix 45 Second Crafting Spray to tame all flyaway’s, and to maintain a long lasting, natural looking hold

Avon Celebrates ANEW 20th Birthday with Paulina Porizkova and Alfonso Ribeiro

Look who I got a picture with!

Who knew it took going back to the 90’s to attend easily the hippest party of 2012 yet! Okay provided, it’s barely February so that doesn’t say as much as it should, but Avon spared no detail in their recent 1992 themed party in celebration of the 20th birthday of their prestige anti-aging line, ANEW. Hosted by supermodel and ANEW spokesperson, Paulina Porizkova who announced to the audience, “I have nothing in this face for except what God gave me and Avon put on it”. Quite an accolade to the brand considering at 46, she’s flawless..

Avon packed the Thom Bar with 90’s memorabilia including slap bracelets, Fun-Dip, Warheads, fanny-packs, a photo booth, and tunes that made you want to jump-jump (no literally they played Kris Kros), along with other hits from the decade.  And speaking of the 90’s, just after Paulina gave a speech to the audience and the brand introduced ANEW’s two latest products; Genics Eye Treatment and Clinical Resurfacing Expert; they announced a surprise guest… On came Tome Jones’ It’s not unusual and out came Alonso Ribeiro (aka Carlton Banks from the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air!) doing his iconic Carlton dance.

It was perfect. And naturally, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity for a photo-opp with him.

Thank you for a very fun evening Avon!

Longines Unveils new Boutique at Tourneau Timemachine

Earlier this week, Details Magazine hosted the exclusive unveiling of Swiss watchmaker brand, Longines new boutique within Torneau TimeMachine in NYC. As most of you prestige watch connoisseurs know, Torneau TimeMachine’s Flagship on Madison Avenue is a 2 floor mecca of some of the world’s finest watches. And while Longines has been no stranger to the store, it’s new shop-in-shop boutique now houses a wider assortment of mens and women’s watches. Considering tennis superstars couple Andre Agassi and Steffi Graff have enjoyed a long time partnership with the brand (and serve as official ambassadors), it came as no surprise, Steffi Graf joined the brand for the official ribbon cutting ceremony. Unfortunately, I got there too late to meet my child-hood tennis hero, however I did get to peak inside the elegant boutique, and get a tour of the watches.

Want to see what you missed? Enjoy a virtual tour with Longines and Steffi Graf HERE

A Night Under the Stars with Susan Miller and Todd English

Susan Miller telling the crowd what to expect for 2012
My photo opp with Todd English!

For lack of a better cliche, I was through the moon over the recent event, Under the Stars I helped produce with the amazing PR Agency, Noise 784 for an evening with world famous astrologist (AstrologyZone founder), Susan Miller, and celebrity chef, Todd English. Considering the event was on the fancier side, I wasn’t leaving anything to chance. So after spending the day getting my hair and makeup done at Angelo David Salon, I dashed to Nicole Miller for the perfect outfit.

Susan Miller, who rarely makes public appearances hosted the zodiac themed evening, complete with specialty cocktails created by the founder of Intoxicated Zodiac mixologist, Gwen Sutherland Kaiser at Todd English’s restaurant, Crossbar. Located within The LimeLight in NYC, it’s modern day medieval charm complimented the enchantment of the evening perfectly. And while the astrologist indulged guests in an hour lecture over what to expect for 2012, the chef was busy in the kitchen preparing a four course meal consisting of small dishes representing the four astrological elements: earth, air, fire and water.

I got to sit with Susan for the dinner!

I was busy tweeting up a storm and selfishly like every person in that room waited for Susan to address my zodiac sign for incite into what I had to expect. She began by announcing the luckiest days of the year — May 12th and 13th. She then asked if there were any Taurus’ in the room. The only person to raise their hand was my date.

She then gloated over his good fortune, especially if his birthday be on those days or right before. It was the May 9th. She seemed pleased and encouraged him to pursue any business opportunities as there has not been a year with this much financial fortune since 1999. My date turned to me and whispered, “Lara, I’ve never made as much money as I did in 1999”. I got chills!

12/15 Join us for Under the Stars with Susan Miller and Todd English

I’m very excited to announce that I’m working on an amazing event, Under the Stars with Susan Miller and Todd English on December 15th and I hope some of you can make it!

Spend the evening with internationally known astrologer, and founder of AstrologyZone.com, Susan Miller (freak out!) as she guest lectures on “What to Look Forward to in 2012”. The event is hosted by renowned chef, restaurateur, author, and television star, Todd English who will be taking guests on a culinary journey with a zodiac tasting tailored to the evening.

Indulge in an open bar featuring cocktails inspired by the zodiac from mixologist and founder of Intoxicated Zodiac, Gwen Sutherland Kaiser and enjoy complimentary CND Shellac Manicures.
