It started with a countdown — one much larger then the counting clock on their door — the long awaited opening of the first Sephora location in Australia. While it was announced in April the world’s biggest retailer would be opening in Sydney, it wasn’t until this past Friday it opened it’s doors at the Pitt St Mall. And the crowd went wild! The line since the opening (just to get in the front door) have been so insane they had to create a barricade around the proximity to secure the line and hire multiple security guards to monitor the coming in and out process.
As a new yorker it’s funny to see, considering we have a Sephora on every other block and Sydney is not short of incredible beauty destinations (some of which are on the same block), however it really puts into perspective what a beauty mecca Sephora is when you see these beauty enthusiasts spending their afternoons just waiting to get in. Much like the US locations, you have your fragrances along the wall, and makeup gondolas (including Tarte, Dior, It Cosmetics, YSL, Marc Jacobs, Bite, MAKE UP FOR EVER) on the ground floor with Benefit Cosmetics signature Brow Bar (and products in the back). Then up the second floor for skincare and enjoy brands as Philosophy, Arcona, Dr.Jart, and SK-II as well as Australian brands, Jurlique, Leif, and Coast to Coast.
