NYFW: Rebecca Minkoff F/W 2015 Backstage Report

Rebecca Minkoff beauty look backstage fall 2015Whatever the edgy, rocker beauty moment that was happening backstage at Rebecca Minkoff I’m completely so into it! From the textured bangs created by Orlando Pita for Tresemme, and intensely hot blacked out, “wide eye wanderlust” eyes by Sarah Lucero for Stila Cosmetics to the edgy negative space chevron manicure by Michelle Saunders for Essie. The entire look was edgy and cool and yet still very natural when it went down the runway.

NYFW: Saunder F/W 2015 Collection

For the SAUNDER F/W15 collection the designer pays tribute to Henry VII and once again collaborated with accessories designer, Megan Isaacs. Together they brought Tudor themes into contemporary fashion designs. Saunder’s collection mixed feminine and masculine silhouettes and utilized traditional fabrics of tweed and tartan to create romantic looks and tailored jackets and pants. The collection made an abundant use of textures (a big trend were seeing for the season). The accessories encompassed pearls along side studs in gold, silver and gunmetal. The Anglo period was represented throughout the collection in a very modern way. And because we know you can’t stop starring at the makeup the look was created by Mehron Makeup (you can read all about it on their BLOG).

NYFW Backstage Beauty: Get the Christian Louboutin Manicure at Cushine et Ochs F/W 2015

Photo Credit: Taylor JewellWho’s says “squares are bores?” Certainly, no one starring at the nails at Cushine et Ochs fall/winter show. The look, which was created by Madeline Poole, for Christian Louboutin Beauté was inspired by the colors used throughout the line and to complement the collection with geometrical precision nail art. “I had an intuition we would be using a small square motif,” said Poole. “Michelle and Carly had the clever idea to paint the square appliqués in nail colours that matched the collection.”

Now I know I already posted about Miley Cyrus’ art — which if you have no idea what I’m talking about click HERE. But basically, Miley debuted her art backstage at the Jeremy Scott Spring/Summer Fashion Show and her jewelry collection on the models that went down the runway. And somehow this totally overshadowed what I should have been posting about… the awesome beauty!

For Cynthia Rowley Spring/Summer 2015 Fashion Presentation, the designer partnered with Birchbox for the makeup and nails and John Barrett Salon for the hair. As some you know Cynthia Rowley launched an exclusive makeup collection with the subscription beauty box service (who recently opened their first store in Soho and also sells full size product on their website). Led by makeup artist Daniel Martin, he used a variety of the Cynthia Rowley makeup collection, including “The Game Face Eyeshadow Palette”, which

NYFW: Christian Siriano Spring/Summer 2015 Show

Christian Siriano white dress at NYFW

White Hot and Cool Blues permeated Christian Siriano’s Spring Summer 2015 collection. Inspired by the artist Serfio Redegali’s glass sculptures, Christian was thinking about the “effects of transparency”. Each garment had a defined silouette with a specific attention paid to texture. All white designs were the first to parade down the runway. These designs transitioned into a series of cool sea foam green evening wear dresses.

NYFW: A Parisian Dream at Alice + Olivia SS2015 Presentation

Alice + Olivia is one of those shows I look forward to attending every season — and it never disappoints! Stacey Bendet’s attention to detail and captivating creating a world around her collection is just further testament to her designer eye. For this year the inspiration was the beauty of Versailles represented by royally waking up from a dream in Paris. And we see this parisian princess come to life in a modern way with a chic braided silk chignon created by Michael Duenas for Schwarzkopf Professional (see how to tutorial HERE) and makeup created by Sara Lucero, Stila’s Global Director of Creative Artistry.

NYFW: Style-Envy California Girls in the Desert at Mara Hoffman

Mara Hoffman Spring 2015

Backstage at Mara Hoffman, the hair stole the show! With an inspiration of the California girl at Joshua Tree, outdoors absolved in the chic by dryness elements of the desert, Nick Irwin, CATWALK by TIGI Global Creative Director created a unique messy, deconstructed braid that had even me wanting to get extensions to pull this look off. The key to creating that texture came from using CATWALK by TIGI Transforming Dry Shampoo on dry hair and blasting it with the blow dryer to create that matte texture.
