Backstage at Nanette Lepore‘ Spring Summer 16 collection, Stila Cosmetics and Caption Polish brought forth an effortless downtown girl look. Channeling a “Pop Art Princess” theme for the makeup, the look was all about the eyes. Lead by makeup artist Charlie Riddle, the look was inspired by a cool downtown New York City. To create the look the team mixed and matched Stila’s smudge sticks in Cobalt Turquoise and Sienna or Stila’s Stay All Day liner Pink Paradise on the top and bottom lid. After creating bold pop of color on the eyes they finished it off with Stila’s “Huge Extreme Lash Mascara.”  The rest of the skin was prepped with Stila’s All Day foundation and Stay All Day Bronzer. For those of you who want to get the look at home, Riddle recommends “choosing your favorite bright colored eye pencil and line your eyes as thick or as thin as you desire”. Don’t be afraid for go for it!

Following the downtown girl inspiration from the collection the nail look reflected an untailored look. Nanette wanted an edgy nail that was still feminine. The look was created starting with Caption Polish Base Coat then two coats of  Look, Don’t Touch. Once the coats were completely dry the team then used the white polish shade, Heaven Help Me, which was applied in light brush strokes in different directions.

Mondo’s Project Runway All Stars Dress Now Available at Nanette Lepore

Project Runway All Stars: Austin, Modo, Michael and Kenley
Me with Mondo!

On Thursday Night, I had the pleasure of joining the surviving cast members of Project Runway All Stars and Nanette Lepore at her store in SoHo for a private viewing party of that night’s episode. With only four contestants left, Mondo Guerra, Austin Scarlett, Kenley Collins and Michael Costello, this was a particularly exciting episode considering it would determine the 3 finalists that would be showing in the finale (for their chance to have their collection sold at Neiman Marcus!).

Nanette Lepore was a guest judge on the episode (along with Gorgina Chapman and Isaac Mizrahi) and the winner of the challenge would have their design sold at her store with the proceeds going to Save the Garment District. Despite some difficulty in hearing the episode from within the store, it was really exciting being with the designers as they showcased their designs, although much more nerve racking over waiting for the announcement of who was in and out. In all honesty, at the level these finalist are at I thought all the designs we’re good. Austin, was safe, Mondo won and Kenley and Michael fell to the bottom. Michael design was a little long but I thought otherwise very LA and wearable (it reminds me of a T-Bags dress I once owned) and Kenley, who despite picking a fabulous print, cut the print a little off and was eliminated.

Once the winner was announced, the designers final garments we’re put in the store for display and Mondo’s mass-produced design went on the racks officially for sale ($298). It’s so cute and spring, and I love that it has pockets! Congratulations Mondo!

Nanette Lepore Collaborates with Sam Bisbee for her Spring 2012 Collection

Nanette Lepore takes the runway at the finale of her Spring/Summer 2012 show

Nanette Lepore’s Sping/Summer 2012 show was filled with energy and bright colors. In a growing trend of live music having a presence on the runway, Nanette Lepore collaborated with singer/songwriter Sam Bisbee for a performance during her show. “I love when people incorporate classical instruments into something hip and modern,” said Lepore. Premiering music from Sam Bisbee’s “You + Me = Us” album, the models rocked the collection filled with hot pink, bright yellows, orange and electric blue.

My favorites from the collection included these numbers…
