This month, Essie launched an extension of its Gel Couture range with six new delicate and delightful shades as part of their Ballet Couture collection. If you’ve tried their Gel Couture line (it’s the one in the cool twist bottle), you know it’s probably one of the most long-lasting at home polishes on the market and can last up to two weeks. It’s applied like regular polish (it’s not like the in-salon gel manicures that involves a curing machine) and the other perk is it requires no base coat. Simply apply 2 coats, let it dry, then seal with the special Gel Couture Top Coat and you’re good to go. Shade swatches of the new range below!

Essie Launches New Treat Love & Color Strengthening Collection
Essie recently introduced a brand new collection that is a hybrid line between nail color AND nail care called Treat Love & Color. We’ve seen a rise in brands creating more good-for-you nail color to address all the damage we do to our nails with non-stop nail polish application and gel manicures — Sally Hansen launched Color Therapy at the end of last year — and now Essie has launched the “BB cream of nails,” with the new Treat Love & Color collection. While Sally Hansen has gone the oil route (Argan oil to be exact), Essie’s new formula is composed of collagen, camellia leaf extracts, and brightening pigments, to strengthen and improve overall nail health over time with continuous use. They also require no bottom or top coat, which is pretty cool. See swatches and review below!
Kandee Johnson x SinfulColors Nail Polish Collaboration
Kandee Johnson, YouTube sensation known for her absolutely amazing beauty transformations (did you see the one where she’s Donald and Hilary at the same time?!?), has partnered with SinfulColors to create a range of 24 vintage inspired nail polish shades. Consisting of two collections, Pretty Vintage, which is currently available in 12 shades, and Vintage Anime, which will be launching in February (also 12 shades), each at a phenomenal price of $1.99-$2.99.
The collection is filled with fun colors and textures (like glitter, shine and matte), all with super cute names, like Mint Chip which is the matte shade I’m wearing above. Kandee flew into NYC for the launch of her collaboration, hosted at Beauty Bar in NYC. I haven’t been there in forever but between the sparkly, glitter filled walls, candy bar and a room full of nail polish, it was pretty much full on girl nirvana. Plus Kandee is every bit as lovely and personable as she is on her YouTube channel — she’s so amazingly sweet and lovely.
PRIDE Float with SinfulColors
Yesterday I crossed a huge bucket list item off when my friends at SinfulColors invited me to be on their float for Pride. This year marks my 15th year in NYC and it’s something I’ve always wanted to do. After Orlando, I had a lot to say but no words and what I realized more then anything Is that I wanted to be apart of this big day and show my support for the LGBT (I may be missing a few letters…) community.
The parade featured 2,000 marchers and 85 floats! 12:30pm was our call time to meet on ours at 38th and 5th. It can take up to two hours (and it was close to that) before your float gets cleared to head down 5th Avenue and join in the parade, which ends Greenwich Village’s Stonewall Inn; the birthplace of the gay rights movement. It was recently granted national monument status.

Sally Hansen Launches Glitter Nail Polish Removing Base Coat
I would love to say, I wish I thought of this! But I literally have! Ever since the nail polish glitter craze I have fantasized about a base coat that would make glitter nail polish come off. (Although I always thought it would be heat activated). As many of you know taking off glitter nail polish is the worst. Even with acetone polish remover you are scrubbing forever and the only real effective fix is to soak your nails in the chemical and foiling off. It’s time consuming and annoying! (Just saying…) so literally when I saw Sally Hansen had developed the “Big Peel Off Base Coat” specifically formulated to solve this nightmare I was (and remain) so excited! AND IT’S ONLY $5.99!!!!!! But does it work? Lets me show you!
Smith and Cult Launches Lip Lacquer! (Plus new nail polish shades!)
Last month, super cool nail brand Smith & Cult expanded their beauty offerings with the launch of The Shining Lip Lacquer collection. Featuring 8 shades ($22 each) of super glossy, pretty shades that go on beautifully on their own or over lipstick. They aren’t messy or too sticky and smell so good!
#MANIMONDAY spotlight: Nonie Creme
The nail polish world is a crazy one! We have the dominating big brands like Essie, OPI and Sally Hansen and then all the big makeup brands that launched theirs from Revlon to Maybelline. That now were seeing this rise in ‘indie’ brands which is a very tough field to play in against all of these big name brands. And yet even with all of the fierce competition, one beauty veteran, Nonie Creme makes it look easy.
OPI Infinite Shine Gel Effects Lacquer System Review
I was recently asked what my biggest beauty blunder was and without hesitation it is peeling gel manicures off. Truth be told, I LOVE the finish and long lasting power of a gel manicure, but have little patience to go back to the salon and endure the soak–off process. So when my friends at Refinery29 asked me to partner with them and test out the new OPI Infinite Shine Gel Effects Lacquer System, I was all over it!
