There really isn’t anything quite like a 3 day weekend to hit the recharge button, especially when you have an exciting 4 day week to look forward to. The beauty and booze lover in me are both being appeased between the FounderMade Beauty Summit on Friday and then Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic on Saturday, which ahem Alicia Keys is performing at! They are really going all out for their 10th Anniversary, I CAN NOT WAIT. I’m also looking forward to being with Nylon on Friday for the celebration of their music issue, which is awesome since it saves me the trip to Barnes & Nobles to buy every issue. Also Charlie XCX is performing and hopefully Tove Lo who is hosting the event.

Blonde Hair + Miu Miu Glasses
It’s been a lot of change recently. Between going blonde and finding out I’m nearsighted — which I have LensCrafters to thanks for! It’s been a really fun week of playing dress up. If you missed my post on my eye process, check it out HERE. They made the whole process digital so all you do is look in a machine and then the Ophthalmologist shows you a scan of your eye and tells you things like you’re nearsighted! In all honesty, I’m getting a little carried away. I don’t have to wear them fro walks, they are mostly for reading and my endless hours in front of the computer writing. Something I’m actually trying to cut down on a bit.

It’s been a lot recently so I’m embracing fall and planning some trips. I’m more creative when I get away and am heading to Lisbon on Monday! NYC will always have my heart, but it’s been a lot of running around recently. Fall is one of my favorite seasons though. Leaves in the air, autumn colors… I love this Corduroy Skirt skirt I got during fashion week and my Henri Bendel Soho Backpack. I feel like I’m back in the 90’s getting ready for school. A black turtleneck is a staple but I’ve been having trouble replacing a Marni one I had for 6+ years (it needed to be retired last year) and had some luck with this Lafayette 148 Wool Turtleneck Sweater. I’m working on building my fall staples. I’ve also been wearing my Kyboe! watch non-stop. I just booked my flight to Miami for Art Basel which is where I discovered the brand; now every time I wear it I think of warmer days to come. Lastly Maxus came out with the perfect fall wine nail polish shade as part of their Empower Collection, it’s called Respected and it has a gel like finish.
Happy fall everyone! xoLara
Do you need glasses?
It was a family affair at LensCrafters last week when James and I (and Charlie!) went to for a Clarifye eye exam. James is nearly blind and was overdue to get his eyes checked and update his prescription and I haven’t had an eye exam in over a decade. Which is pretty bad since I think you’re supposed to do it every year or so. From what I remember about the process it’s anything but pleasant, droppers in your eye, blurring your vision and tests for what feels like days. I’m so appreciative LensCrafters gave us the extra nudge to come in to try out their new technology making everything easy and digital (no drops required) and so fast. I’ll admit, I assumed my vision was perfect, at least for the big stuff, like everyday life. But I have noticed the fonts on the back of my beauty products have been getting smaller and harder to read. Which begged the million dollar question — was it the smaller font or do I need glasses?
Well let me tell you, I was excited to find out. I actually wanted glasses growing up and remember being disappointment in high school when the doctor said my vision was perfect. I wasn’t remotely attracted to the idea of contacts but I did feel like I was missing out on the fashion of glasses (It wasn’t cool back then to wear fakes since it was considered trying to hard). Fast forward to last week when James and I were blown away by LensCrafters Clarifye digital eye exam. We each looked into some machines that instantly scanned our eyes — they check our vision, producing detailed pictures of our retina and eye health, measuring 5x more optical characteristics then that of a visual exam (it also checked us for glaucoma).

Saks + Footwear News Announce Sexy Shoes Finalists (Help Pick The Winner!)
It’s a divine morning when you get to sneak into their shoe department of Saks Fifth Avenue before the retailer is even open and have an intimate moment with some of the most beautiful foot adornments of right now. Or at least that was my experience as I fawned over the aisles of designer shoes before me. The invitation came on behalf of Saks Fifth Avenue and Footwear News which announced the ’25 Sexy Shoes’ finalists in their competition featuring designs of brands including Miu Miu, Manolo Blahnik, Roger Vivier, Stuart Weitzman, Nicholas Kirkwood, Tabitha Simmons, YSL, and more.
Now that they’ve selected the 25 sexy shoes of right now, it’s up to the public to vote their favorite (and naturally there’s something in it for you). By voting you’re automatically entered to win a $10,000 Saks Fifth Avenue shopping spree. A second place winner will be selected as well for a $1,500 gift card. Vote online at Footwearnews.com/sexyshoes. You can vote onc a day through Oct. 11. The more times you vote, the more chances to win!
Just look at all of these beauties…
How do you Lands End Canvas: Women’s Fishing Net Sweater
You all know how much I love a style challenge! So when I was gifted this classic Women’s Fishing Net Sweater from Lands End Canvas, and asked to participate in a style project, I was all in. First off, everyone should have a few basic knits in their wardrobe (I have quite an assortment), they are incredibly versatile and one of the easiest pieces to transition from summer to fall!
First Look: Summer Casual – shorts and booties (flip flops/sandals also work).
{Lands’ End Canvas Fishing Net Sweater paired with Elevenses Puckered Plaid Shorts (available now at Anthropologie), vintage booties}
For a more polished look add a belt and jacket. It also goes great with a hat!
{Outfit add-on: Cartonnier Jacket (available at Anthropologie), B by Bill Adler Design belt, Goorin Bros. hat}
As you transition into fall, update your shorts with Khakis. Belt it in either a brown or red and add a casual shoes or wedge.
Our Favorite (functional and fashionable) Winter Accessories
In addition to being very functional in staying warm this season, hats, tights, and event socks can be an amazing and easy way to jazz up any outfit or transform a look.
What I’m currently loving… The Carly Boho Clothe Hat by Eugenia Kim ($365), which I spotted on another blogger and had to try for myself! Now I’m in enamored with it and it’s on my wishlist!
Knee socks! I’m all about the fun knee socks look to create anything from a preppy, sporty to downright silly outfit, which is why Sock It to Me Knee Socks ($9) are staples in my wardrobe.
Fun (and classic) tights and pantyhose!
1. Lips Floral Tights ($25)
2. Jukebox Tights in the Twist ($34.99)
3. Free People Feather Tights ($38)
