For the past few season’s prints on prints, mixing textures and colors has been all the rage. And you can read all the articles about “how to do it” but my best advice is to just experiment. Sometimes you’ll hit the jackpot and other times it will be an epic fail. It’s just the nature of

mark. Celebrates 10years with Lucy Hale and Elle Varner
Beauty and fashion brand, mark. will always have a special place in my heart. I started my blog right around the time I began consulting with mark. and years later to be in a room with some former colleagues and the blogger community to celebrate the brands 10th birthday is an honor. How far the brand has come over the past decade with a full line of makeup, skincare, nails and hair line as well as accessories, shoes, handbags and fashion finds. Not to mention, their m.powerment campaign which has raised over $1 million to to help break the cycle of dating abuse and partner violence!
Joined by mark.’s Global President, Meg Lerner, Celebrity Makeup Artist Fiona Stiles, R&B sensation Elle Varner, as well as mark.’s new beauty brand ambassador, (and Pretty Little Liars star) Lucy Hale, the brand celebrated it’s birthday at
Avon’s mark Names Lucy Hale Beauty Brand Ambassador, Robert Pattinson gets Tapped for Dior Homme Fragrances
It started with Lauren Conrad, then Ashley Greene, and now the baton has been passed to the Pretty Little Liars star, Lucy Hale as the new Beauty Brand Ambassador to Avon’s mark. In addition to appearing in digital and print campaigns for the brand, Hale will also be the spokesperson for the m.powerment campaign, mark’s philanthropic effort dedicated to breaking the cycle of dating abuse and partner violence against young women.
“I’m incredibly proud to partner with a brand that is as passionate about empowering women as I am,” Hale said. “I’ve been a fan of mark’s products for years, but it was important to me to work with a brand that is truly about beauty on the inside and the outside.”
Her debut campaign will be mark’s August Magalog, as the official 10th Birthday issue for the brand.
Meanwhile, Robert Pattinson is tapped as the new face of Dior Homme Fragrance. Since his breakout role in
Sneak Peek of mark.’s Holiday Mag Cover Featuring Ashley Greene
Twilight star and mark. Brand Ambassador, Ashley Greene will grace the cover of mark.’s holiday Magalog. In case you’re wondering what a Magalog is, it’s part magazine, part selling catalog filled with mark.’s beauty products and their fashion line.
Launching in mid-November, the issue features mark Celebrity Makeup Artist Mai Quynh, as she shares the inside scoop on Ashley’s look and explains why photo shoots can be quite the lengthy process. And because we couldn’t wait until October for the details on this gorgeous cover look, we had a few questions for the makeup artist.
Pretty Connected (PC): Tell us about the shoot…
Mai Quynh (MQ): We did five or six completely different beauty looks in one day, which means applying and removing looks back to back. Ashley is such a professional; she’s very patient and makes a great canvas. We also shot “Very Sassy,” mark’s new fragrance that launches in October. Ashley is the face of the fragrance, which made the shoot exciting.
PC: What makeup is Ashley wearing?
MQ: On this cover, Ashley is wearing a jewel tone smoky eye, festive shimmer on her cheeks and an iridescent
Rock out with your mark. out
I’m seriously digging mark.’s latest jewelry line. While the younger, hipper little sister to Avon may be known for it’s makeup collection, it’s really the accessories that have been catching my attention this season. It’s very Alexis Bittar meets Alex & Chloe glam-rocker (at a fraction of the price) and I’m totally into it.
1. mark. Line Up Necklace ($18): It looks super cute on the model featured on mark.’s website and curves perfectly along the signature of her neck.
2. mark. Pick a Posey Earrings ($18): Holy ball of sparkle glam. I love the rustic inconstancy of these earrings. I want!
3. mark. Double Skull Ring ($16): This is my first skull jewelry of any kind and I wear it all the time. It’s a great shape and can be layered or worn on it’s own.
4. mark. Pave the Way Bracelet Set ($24): Totally cute worn together, although they look great in a sea of mixed bangles.
5. mark. Triple Threat Earring Set ($20): Everyone should own a pair of pyramid studs. You’d be surprise how often they compliment an outfit. I’m not a fan of the wishbones (I think they look a little cheap), and the green heart earrings are cute and nice compliment to a bright, summer outfit. Basically, what I’m saying is this set is worth getting just for the pyramid studs.
Disclosure: Pretty Connected previewed these items at a mark. event and was sent a complimentary sample of the Double Skull ring for post consideration. Pretty Connected was under no obligation to write this post.
Booty Queen for Halloween
Halloween is a fun time of year when you can really go outside your comfort zone and play dress up without any concern about looking too ridiculous or over-dressed. This year, I decided to be Kim Kardashian. It was very entertaining creating this costume considering it was my first ‘stuff my bra/butt experience.’ It also gave me an opportunity to test a lot of products.
Here’s a quick excerpt of the my Kim Kardashian look (more detailed review to come):
HAIR:
Redken Go Clean Shampoo and Finish Up Conditioner – Love it! This is part of Redken’s men’s line but it works really well on my hair. Great lather, my hair comes out shiny and well, clean. But yes, you’ll smell like a dude. When men ask me for a list of products I recommend for them, this is always on the list (unless they have color treated hair).
Ken Paves Professional Styling Iron – Part of Ken Paves’ Travel line, is this lightweight straightener, which is fast becoming my everyday straightener – it’s that good. Originally I was apprehensive about this product since I didn’t think ‘one heat setting fits all’ is viable for flat irons; however it gets very hot (up to 410 degrees F), which is what is really necessary for my curly hair. Warning, if you generally use your flat iron on a low heat setting, this may not be the product for you. Unless of course the heat settings automatically adjusts based on hair need, but either way there is no dial to manually control it. I will investigate this further and report back.
Living Proof Straight Making No Frizz Styling Treatment – a great protective cream for when you’re using a flat iron or blow-drying your hair. Helps fight frizz and only requires a small dollop to service your entire scalp. It’s no wonder this line has been winning so many prestigious beauty awards!
Cutler Specialist Fly-Away Control Stick – This is my go to product for fly aways. Shaped like a deodorant stick, I just roll them over problematic areas and I’m all set for the entire evening.
John Frieda Luxurious Volume All-Out Hold Hairspray – This product fell a little flat. It has great hold, but didn’t maintain the volume I was hoping for.
LIPS:
L’Oreal Infallible Plumping Lip Gloss in Plumped Pink and Plumped Red – It tingles a bit, and I definitely felt a little plumping action taking place, but having pretty full lips already, it wasn’t
