Share Your Beauty Donation Drive in NYC/CT

We’re back! As many of you know, I run Share Your Beauty, a beauty donation program created to combat waste and promote sustainability in the beauty industry by donating excess new, unopened, beauty and hygiene products to various shelters in the NYC Tri-state area.

We’re partnering with Glowbar and NewBeauty magazine to collect your new beauty products to donate to refugee families in NYC through Human Rights First.

Now through June 14th, products can be shipped or dropped off at any Glowbar location in NYC + CT (locations are listed in the above invite).

Special thank you to LeSportsac for generously donating bags to hold all the beauty products being donated, so every recipient receives their products in a beautiful bag.

More on SHARE YOUR BEAUTY: Recognized as the first beauty donation program, co-founded by Lara Eurdolian of Pretty Connected and the poverty relief non-profit organization Family-to-Family. Together they organize drives and events to collect beauty and hygiene products and deliver them to shelters and teen centers in NYC, Westchester, and the tri-state area. Since their launch in February 2014, over 150,000 beauty products have been donated thanks to the generous support of individuals, brands, and members of the beauty industry.

Pretty Connected Accessories Launch Party

The Pretty Connected brand has evolved so much over the past decade from when I first started as a beauty blogger/reporter 10 years ago! I was helping brands like NARS, Kiehl’s, Jurlique in marketing and grow before getting into the blogger world, with no idea blogs/social/influencers would explode to what they are now. Now we’ve expanded the content range to include fashion, travel, lifestyle and beyond and the doors Pretty Connected(™) has opened to major campaigns, magazine features, TV appearances and beyond still blows my mind. In 2014 we added, Share Your Beauty, an amazing non-profit program we started with Family-to-Family to help donate beauty products to women’s shelters and now we’re in a new chapter, my Pretty Connected accessories line.

Our multi-purpose straps have grown such a cult following, almost as big as our BOSS rings, which have been worn by so many powerhouses from Drew Barrymore, Patricia Field to Chloe Kim!

Alexa Luria, Ashlee Glazer, Val Greenberg showing off all the uses of our chain straps from a camera, to waterbottle and flip flop strap. Add it to you makeup case to make it a wristlet.

I recently launched with Urban Outfitters and our online store has grown so much to include bags, reusable straws and cell phone jackets, that we needed a party to celebrate and properly launch my little brand that could.

Our LeSportsac bag is packed, lets go on a Pretty Connected journey through my timeline.

Since the House of Pretty Connected (should I start calling it that, lol!) has so many parts I wanted to take guests on a journey through the Pretty Connected World and my brands evolution over the past decade! We made passports for their trip and had each gifting stations gave them as a stamp as they traveled through my story.

Super Saturday

Yesterday, my friend Lorna from thefabulousreport.com and I drove to the Hamptons to celebrate Super Saturday in benefity of OCRFA. I’m usually out of town for it so this year I marked my calendar weeks in advance. OCRFA is the largest global charity advancing and advocation for ovarian cancer research. Their Super Saturday event is a daylong shopping event that brings top luxury brand names in fashion, accessories, beauty, children’s, and home at major discounts with all the sales from the day going to the cause.

Hosted by Donna Karen, Gabby Karen de Felice and Kelly Ripa, it was a beautiful day, filled with food, drinks, carnival rides and of course stellar shopping. So needless to say, I felt completely guilt free over all my splurges. Especially considering the day raised about $3.5 million dollars for the cause! I went double time at the Henri Bendel, LeSportsac, Jill Stuart, Nicole Miller and surprisingly Talbots booth. I snagged so much fun stuff! And Charlie made the Henri Bendel instagram page!

I have to admit though I didn’t make it to every booth. I was a little distracted with all the rides and whenever I bring Charlie anywhere I spend half my day meeting people and being asked a million questions. Plus having only one arm to shop is a good way to control my spending habits. Other activities included making your own flower crown with B Floral. I went with a white assortment to match my outfit but they had so many beautiful flowers for guests to choose from.

It was a beautiful day to be apart of and I’m already excited for next year. I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. xoLara

The 90s Now: Chokers, Teva’s, Fanny packs?

teva-originals-90s-fashion-lesportsac

{Outfit Details: Member’s Only Iconic Racer Jacket (on sale!), Double Agent Salty Hair Big Waves Tee, Rag & Bone Jeans (similar), LeSportsac Hand Free Wallet, Teva Universal Flatform Sandal}

I’ve been thinking a lot about the 90s recently. It’s pretty hard not to when Teva’s are everywhere and every themed event you attend is the 90s and your mailers are filled with Ring Pops and scrunchies (a brand even sent me the first season of 90210). I’m all about embracing my childhood and reliving it but with a modern twist. I bought my first pair of Teva’s in middle school, and still can’t believe I’m all about them and platforms again. And while I love that decade, I do think we need some updates so I thought I’d break down some of my best pointers starting with… DO NOT buy a black choker. Instead get a piece of black ribbon, tie it around your neck and call it a day! It will fit better and cost under $1.

lesportsac-crossbody-teva

Know how to work a fanny pack – I have seen some cute ones on the market and am obsessed with Hands Free Wallet crossbody I doubled as a fanny pack from LeSprotsac. It’s so lightweight and holds everything I need (built in wallet, phone, lipstick, eyeliner), although I’ll admit I usually wear it more to the side or back. Between having surgery for a herniated disc two years ago and the fact that usually my dog, phone or a drink occupies my hands, not dealing with a purse is kind of amazing! Also backpacks keep continuing to grow in popularity which I’m all for as well.

members-only-jacket-blue-lesportsacGo for the gold! While it was all about the gold digital watches back then, now with cell phones who uses a watch for anything but arm candy? Not me, and I own a million. I finally found my perfect gold watch this year with this Henry London Chiswick Bracelet Watch. The majority of my watches are mens (James and I actually share the collection) and this one is a found new addition to the family. Especially since their watches are really special. We even got the back engraved with our initials.

LeSportsac Gets a New Look

lesportsac-new-lookFor all of my fellow LeSportsac fans, I have some news! For Spring 2016 LeSportsac is getting a new look. While that may not sound like good news, it is! Rest assured fun prints and solids in our favorite silhouettes: backpacks, makeup cases and travel/workout bags are still in the collection. They’ve just updated the material so that it’s lighter then ever and added some new styles and enhanced functionality features.

lesportsac-backpackTheir new motto is “Holds everything weighs nothing” and it’s so true! It literally weighs nothing and are the most lightweight bags I’ve ever felt. I always recommended in travel stories to pack an extra bag in your suitcase in case you shop.  And the new bags are beyond perfect for that.

What’s in my weekender bag: 16 must have travel & beauty products

weekend packing list

Happy long weekend everyone! I hope you’re all soaking up the last days of summer — although lets be honest this heat isn’t dying down anytime soon! Just a peek into my weekender which of course includes tons of SPF!

1. TribeTats Jewelry – Inspired Temporary Metallic Tattoos – I’ve been obsessed with metallic tattoos all summer and the Tribetats Catalina Collection has a mix of Gold, Silver, Black and Rose Gold Designs. My girlfriends and I have so much playing with these!

2. Jene Luciani for Julie Joa GiGi bathing suit – this seasons hottest bikini award goes to this beauty. Everyone flipped for my instagram post of this suit and with good reason. The jewel tone peacock print is to die for.

3. Covergirl The Super Sizer Mascara – Obsessed!! It’s like the drugstore version of my beloved Kevyn Aucoin Volume Mascara. Tip your head back and comb your lashes up for incredible length and volume.

4. Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick – So good! amazing pigment and less drying then some of the other matte liquid lipsticks on the market. Just apply in dabs, even out and let it dry for a few seconds. 28 shades, full coverage, and lasts forever. A poolside must!

5. Kat Von D Tattoo Liner – As far as I’m concerned there’s only two liquid liners worth your time, this one and Stila’s. I hate when a liquid liner isn’t dark enough or you really have to force it for consistent coverage. This liquid liner has a great precision brush making it so easy to use, it’s the best!

6. Lancome Drama Liqui-Pencil in Soleil – The new Lancome eyeliner pencils are awesome! I’ve been searching for a good yellow for a while and this one is between a white and yellow so it highlights in a similar way but the yellow tint is so much fun for a nice pop.

7.  Ventev powercell 6000+ – first off Ventev has an amazing range of affordable, portable charges in all sized. I go for the heavy duty 2 port (since James and I are always out of battery at the same time) charger that can be plugged into the wall to recharge. For any blogger on the go a portable charger that plugs into the wall is everything! How many times have you been out and your charger dies? Now if that happens you just plug it in and you’re back in the green zone.

8. SPF – L’Oreal Invisible Protect Clear Cool Lotion SPF 50+, Dr. Dennis Gross Dark Spot Defense SPF 50, and Supergoop! Defense Refresh Setting Mist SPF 50.

I’m all about an alcohol free formula but It’s sticky and gross out I’ll make an exception (plus it’s the only SPF when it’s terrible out I can get James to wear). It’s invisible formula is cooling and refreshing and water resistant for 80 minutes. For my face I use Dr. Dennis Gross Dark Spot Sun Defense since If there’s one thing I learned from my teen years it’s that I’m very dark spot prone. You only need a little bit and apply in front of the mirror to make sure you’re not putting on too much and it’s evenly distributed. I then top off any makeup application with Supergoop! Setting Mist. It sets makeup perfectly so it lasts longer and gives an SPF 50. Sunscreens of all form usually need to be re-applied every 2 hours so this is also the perfect way to re-load up without having to put a sunblock on over your makeup.

9. L’Occitane Precious Mist – Whether you’re on a plane and feeling dry and icky from the recycled air or on the beach feeling like your skin needs a recharge, this face mist is the answer. Enriched with immortelle floral water it’s instant hydration in one sprtiz.

10. Juara Radiance Vitality Oil – I’m having a major Juara moment, their body products are amazing! This is the first facial product I’ve used and for dry and mature skin I can’t recommend it enough. (Oily skin I’d include you in but you have to love a rich oil to enjoy it). It’ instantly hydrates and brightens. It’s rich but soaks right into skin and lasts. Come winter I’m not letting it out of my site.

11. Almay Longwear & Waterproof eye makeup remover pads – Almay has a few different eye makeup remover pads and these are by far my favorite. They are more oily then wet and take EVERYTHING off.

12. My Little Steamer Go Mini – There’s nothing worse then bringing your cute dressed and taking it out of your bag to find it super wrinkled. This steamer may be small but it packs a major punch and a total vacation lifesaver.

13. Dentek Silk Floss Picks + Case and Easy Brush – I’m a Dentek superfan. I them next to computer, bed, bags, bathrooms. I live for them because I used to be the worlds worst flosser and could not commit. These have changed my life. I’m so sexcited they launched a carrying case since now putting them in my purse is so much easier. Prior to that I only carried the Easy Brush sticks since they have a cap on each one. Now I can carry both! The Flow picks are great for loosening anything in between teeth and I use the other side of the sticks along my gum line for an extra cleaning. I then go in with the Easy Brush like a pipe cleaner to really get into the gums.

14. Pop Dental Rechargeable Sonic Toothbrush – This is my favorite travel brush. It’s chic, has a cover so it’s easy to travel with and you can replace the head. It’s also a battery operated electric toothbrush that does over 22,000 strokes per minute.

15. Schick Hydro Silk TrimStyle – I’m a European Wax Center veteran but lately committing to growing out my hair out in between visits has been killing me. I got the HydroSilk in a gift bag from a Women’s Health Beauty Awards breakfast where they took first prize. It has a hydrating 5 curse sensing razor on one end and waterproof bikini trimmer on the other. It keeps me completely bikini confident while I’m away.

16. LeSportsac x Rifle Co Weekender bag (this is the Tropical Voyage Print) – No surprise I’m all about the LeSportsac weekenders. You see them on my instagram all the time. They are waterproof, lightweight, have so many fun prints and are the best travel bags.

What’s in your travel bag? Tweet me @prettyconnected or leave me a comment. I’m always looking for great suggestions!

Share Your Beauty Celebrates 1 Year Anniversary in NYC

lesportsac share your beauty eventIt’s been an exciting week! This month we celebrate the 1 year anniversary of my Share Your Beauty program! As some of you know, last year I joined forces with the poverty relief non-profit organization Family-to-Family and together we created Share Your Beauty; the first beauty donation program, where we organize drives and events to collect beauty and hygiene products and deliver them to shelters and teen centers in NYC and the tri-state area.

The Latest from #ShareYourBeauty + Your Chance to win over $2,000 in Beauty Products!

IMG_5941.JPG

It’s been a very inspiring couple of days. As some of you know I started the Share Your Beauty program last February through the non-profit, Family-to-Family, giving brands, editors, bloggers and beauty hoarders the opportunity to donate their unopened beauty products to homeless, and battered women’s shelters and those in need.

This is what being buried under 145 LeSportsac bags filled with beauty products looks like

After hosting several drives our friends at LeSportsac offered their headquarters in Times Square as a drop off location in NYC so we could accept products year round. With the holidays approaching we decided for November to partner with Good Shepherd Services, a youth and family development agency whose programs include foster care. So we sent out an email to our awesome list of bloggers and brands and I’m so excited to announce that we were able to fill 130 LeSportsac bags for the full occupancy of teens (85 bags for the girls, 45 for the boys) in the Family Foster Care program in the Bronx (and had a whole lot of product to spare to send off to their staff and volunteers).

To give you some idea on how amazing the beauty community is, that with just one email we received over 2,500 beauty products (which is like over $30k+ worth of goods!) and I’d like to take a moment to personally thank Henri Bendel, L’Occitane, Aveeno, bareMinerals, Buxom, Knock Out nail polish, Redken, Pureology, DNA PR, Ashley Kalinske of amfAR, Elizabeth Kennedy of Stadiumred, Amanda Brown/AmandBrownMusic.com, Amber Katz/rouge18.com, Vicky Sullivan/Aspiringsocialite.com, Kristin Booker/fashionstylebeauty.com, JM/OpinionNothing.com, Lauren Dimet Waters/secondcitystyle.com, Megan Zeitz/tfdiaries.com, Pamela Pekerman/pamelapekerman.com, Candice Sabatini/beautynewsnyc.com, my In His Clothes and Pretty Connected team and of course LeSportsac for being my amazing partners in crime, err good!

HELP US SPREAD THE WORD! And you could win…

lesportsac beauty giveaway

We had so much left over product (that’s after we filled the 145 bags, plus two huge boxes of product to the staff!) we decided to fill one of LeSportsac’s Extra Large Weekender bags with over $2,000 worth of beauty products and are giving it away to one lucky winner who helps us spread the word! Anyone that tweets or posts on Facebook about the Share Your Beauty program using the hashtag #ShareYourBeauty linking back to this post will automatically be entered!
