Rory Dobner opens NYC Shop-in-Shop at Maison 24

I need to start this post with… If you’ve never been to Maison 24 and love really edgy modern art and unique eclectic home decor pieces (and have a high decorating budget), you need go!

Started by bother and sister duo, Allison Julius and Louis Marra, the store is a reflection of their travels around the globe and selects of unique products, as well as design their own items. Maison 24 brings together products and designs, artist exclusives (like Dobner) that are modern, traditional, serious, and quirky in a unique and oh-so-hip, setting.

My familiarity with the store bridges from references to their original Bridgehampton’s location. It wasn’t until receiving an invitation for the launch of Rory Dobner premiering a shop-in-shop at Maison 24, that I realized they have an NYC location (which launched last July).

As for Rory Dobner, international man of art who has worked and exhibited in the UK, USA, Australia, Haiti, Hong Kong, and New Zealand before returning to the UK in 2005 and setting up a studio in Hampstead, London. Rory has completed a variety of impressive commissions and interior design projects in the U.S. including Soho House and Agent Provocateur and has also been commissioned to do projects for will.i.am, Kate Moss, and Robert Downey Jr. And now as of last week, his work resides in a little boutique in the back room of Maison 24.

Ahhhhh! Not since I used to hang out at Leila Sham‘s apartment have I wanted a home makeover so badly! There are so many cool, unique pieces. It was everything I expected and more (including the price tag). Le sigh. Someday…

Alberta Ferretti Launches at Macy’s + I make the Macy’s Blog!

Ever since the debut of Karl Lagerfeld’s designer collaboration for Macy’s private label, Impulse, the fashion retailer has been on a roll! This week PC celebrated the launch of Alberta Ferretti first capsule for Impulse, which is now available at Macy’s!

The collection, which was inspired by the Italian coastline comprised of a fun mix of colorful sunny dresses, floral prints, navy and white lace separates and one shoulder dresses in varying lengths.

Hosted on the 3rd floor of Macy’s Herald Square, the space for the launch party was transformed to reflect the Amalfi Coast. While pursuing the collection, I received the ultimate compliment — “I love everything about your outfit, can I take your picture?” Turns out it was the Macy’s blogger and next thing I know I’m on their mBLOG!

{Woot woot! I made the Macy’s Blog!}

While I don’t know if I would use the words “too adorbs” in verbatim, that in line with my description for how cute this short strapless sweetheart dress is! I love it in both the solid colorways and floral print.

Alberta Ferretti for Impulse is available exclusively at Macy’s nationwide and Macys.com

Bloomingdale’s celebrates Hugo Boss with Artists, Jeff Koons, Mia Moretti & Caitlin Moe

Check out my Jeff Koons original!

Last night, was a big day for Hugo Boss (and me)! As some of you saw the invite (I posted earlier this week), Sunham Home Fashions was celebrating the launch of the new BOSS Home bedding collection at Bloomingdale’s. Hosted on the 7th floor, guests had the opportunity to shop the collection and enjoy a musical performances by Mia Moretti & Caitlin Moe. I’ve seen those girls do their violin/DJ set probably 15 times in the past year and it never gets old! BOSS Home will be exclusive to Bloomingdale’s for the next 3 months, so go check them out!

I stopped by with Lorna from The Fabulous Report and we met up with the super fun Fashion Indie team to check out the collection; then headed down to the 3rd floor, where Hugo Boss continued the party with the launch of the new BOSS Black women’s shop. If upstairs was all about the jams, downstairs was all about art, with a special appearance by renowned artist, Jeff Koons! Apparently Koons is a big fan of the brand and to mark the new opening, he designed a limited edition shopping bag for Hugo Boss. And guess what? Jeff Koons drew me an original drawing (in front of me) on the bag! It was kind of the best ever!

Jeff Koons drawing me a pic!

I’m freaking out that I have a Jeff Koon’s original, complete with my name on it and his autograph! This bag is totally getting framed. Side note: Samantha, Editor-In-Chic of FashionIndie had this awesome Samsung Galaxy Note phone and was able to pimp out photo with comments after she took the shot (as seen above with her fancy penmanship)! Wish my iPhone could do that.

Epic evening.

Makeovers with Illamasqua

Since making a splash state side with an exclusive partnership with Sephora; the UK beauty line Illamasqua, known for it’s dramatic looks and subversive inspiration, offers a wide variety of unique shades, professional finishes, and versatile application options.  After posting about the nail varnish, and loving it last month– I was excited to play with the rest of the color line.  Lucky for me the team was invited to meet with product development head David Horne and learn about the line, complete with make-up application.

Makeup artist, Kim Anderson took the lead and gave me a natural,  daytime shimmery look, focusing on my eyes for extra emphasis.

Me, Illamasqua Make-Up Artist Kim Anderson, and Lara

After using Satin Primer on my face and applying Rich Liquid Foundation, Kim went to work on my eyes using a mix of Powder Eye Shadow in Fatal and Cream Pigment Eye Shadow in Mould to create a look that was intense in color but muted in tone and finish. After succeeding in making my eyes intensely green by using a shadow with purple in it, she highlighted my cheeks with Cream Blusher in Rude (the brands top seller).

Sharing a few tricks of the trade (that I will be using from now on) she rubbed the heel of her hand in the cream blush and applied it to my cheeks, she then blended it with the opposite side of her hand creating a perfectly symmetrical look. I really like the Rude blush shade as it’s so versatile and works on so many different skin

Oh my GOODNESS…

Oh my GOODNESS, is right! As some of you know, as of last NYFW season I began working with the supermodel/philanthropist, Elettra Wiedemann on her 4-day fashion week pop-up restaurant concept, GOODNESS, which was founded on the principles of providing a wide audience, affordable, locally sourced food, by a rotating line-up of celebrity chefs.

After such an amazing response in September, Elettra brought GOODNESS back for the Fall 2012 NYFW season. Hosted by CIRCA and The Daily Front Row, GOODNESS was housed at the Robert on the 9th floor of the Museum of Arts and Design from February 11 – 14th, and featured an amazing line-up of rotating chefs which included: Mario Batali of Babbo, Leo Forneas of ROBERT, Alain Allegretti of La Promenade des Anglais and Julian Medina of Toloache. And to add to the excitement, GOODNESS earned the CFDA’s Health Initiative Stamp of Approval.

We also took over the 7th floor of the museum to create the GOODNESS Lounge by Renaissance Hotels. Designed as a comfortable “living room” space for guests to relax and recharge. The GOODNESS Lounge by Renaissance Hotels also featured a touch-up station by Lancôme and massages by Equinox. CIRCA, the world’s leading global buyer of fine jewelry, showcased their collection of recycled, sustainable luxury jewelry in the lounge. As you may remember (I posted about the competition!), GOODNESS partnered with Talenthouse to choose a winning resident DJ for the lounge. Our winner, DJ Travisty was a gem and kept the beats going and the lounge popping.

Day 1 was a blur! Mario Batali was in the kitchen and naturally we we’re booked the entire day. We also had a little kick-off party to toast Elettra and the chefs. We were joined by Elettra’s mother, Isabella Rossellini, as well as fashion friends, Monique Pean, Michelle Harper, Laura Brown, Mickey Boardman, Lorenzo Martone, and Jon Emperson aka Lypsinka.

After that we cruised through the next 3 days, welcoming guests, coordinating interviews and trying everything we could possibly could on the menu. I’m so lucky to work with the most amazing team that made going to work everyday so fun and be apart of such an innovative concept.

GO team GOODNESS!

You haven’t heard the last of GOODNESS… aside from a return in future New York Fashion Weeks, expect appearances in Paris, London, Doha and Miami.

Leila Shams RTW Fall 2012 Presentation

Lara Eurdolian, Leila Shams, Sarah Champagne

Leila Shams and I go back, I mean way back… pre-blog, pre-company, pre-just-about-everything. And I’ve always admired her. Besides having the most amazing sense of humor, she’s like this super creative, talented, amazing person, rolled up in a sexy package. Watching her fashion line evolve and display these elements of her personality project into her designs gets me excited every season just to see what she’ll come up with.

Presented by Oster Media, Leila Sham’s Fall 2012 RTW presentation was inspired by tumblr (how awesome is that?). Dark and edgy, she mixed a collection of electric and wild prints and knits with sequins and sparkles. Everything Leila creates is a statement piece. What’s so unique about her collection is that even so, it can all be mixed together without being too much, or on it’s own to wow a room.

Personal Style: Lands’ End Canvas Striped Button-Back Sweater

I would use a lot of different adjectives to describe my personal style. Mainly because it’s completely contingent on my mood and if I’m feeling classic, trendy, rocker, edgy or otherwise. However, no matter my style, it’s always all about the details for me, which is why I’m loving the reversed buttons on this Lands’ End Canvas Sweater.

ROCK IT OUT…

Tights and shorts is a great way to transition your wardrobe to fall. Add some boots and a big belt for a polished look with a little bit more edge.

3 Days Birthday Extravaganza

A psychic once told me that come my 28th birthday I would have the first of seven great years ahead. As I get another year older… at least I have that.

Generally, my birthday is a one day festivity — I’m not one of those week long birthday people. Although ironically this year it turned into a 3-day affair.

Day 1: October 25th, or as I like to call it ‘happy last day of 27’

Dinner at Catch

My bestfriend couldn’t make it to my birthday since he was traveling, so he and some friends took me to dinner at CATCH. A frequenter told us that the main dishes had nothing on the appetizers so we ordered just about every starter on the menu (3 fold). The Crispy Fish and MRC roll are not to be missed!

Day 2: October 26th — my actual birthday

Serendipity's Frozen Hot Chocolate

For the first time in I don’t know how long I took the day completely off and besides getting my nails done, I spent a quiet day reading. It was kind of the best! Then at night the 8yr old girl in me from her first visit to NYC wanted the frozen hot chocolate from Serendipity’s, so my boyfriend took me. The food has gone down hill and yet still attracts a crowd. The 28yr old in me wasn’t nearly as impressed as the 8yr old version — apparently only one of us got better with age.

Day 2: October 27th — the birthday party

Birthday surprise! My mom
{Skirt: Nicole Miller, Top: Elizabeth and James, Glasses: Express}

This was the big day, I was expecting about 80-100 people which was slightly more stressful then anticipated. Although everything was coming together perfectly; My hair (which I have to thank Bumble and Bumble for, their new Straight line is divine!), the skirt borrowed from Nicole Miller’s showroom (which is incredible!), matched with a black Elizabeth and James halter top; and then to nerd things up a bit, I wore the faux-glasses Express gave me from a partnership we did earlier this year. And I had the festivities at my good friends table tennis club/bar, SPiN New York; which at 13,000 sq. feet is impossible to fill so at the very least worrying about space and fitting all of my guests wasn’t a concern.

Although the problem with parties that large is the ratio of friends trying to buy you drinks to what you can actually handle  boils down to big trouble. Which I got in — somewhere around my 5th jack and ginger I turn around and there is my mother! If I wasn’t so excited, I’d be horrified — she flew up from Boston to surprise me, and surprise me she did! It was perfect.

Then came the 3-day Halloween festivities and I am officially partied out! Good night New York, I love you.
