EXTRA, EXTRA! Music festivals are back, and I’m breaking down all the must-have pieces you need to complete your look with Extra TV! After an amazing weekend at Coachella, we have so many amazing festivals to look forward to. Here’s what you need to know…

Extra Extra! After a big week in LA shooting music festival sunglass trends for Extra TV with Sunglass Hut. I took my shades on the road and some of the top trends and headed to Palm Springs to Coachella.
Home of great music, parties and fashion – what more can you ask for? Killer sunglasses? Beyonce, maybe? Jeremy Scott announcing a Moschino x H&M collaboration? Revolve creating their own music festival? Create & Cultivate continuing to be epic and empowering women. Here were some of my highlights and sunglass diary:

For the first day we took it easy and started at the Lemonhead Desert Glow House getting our hair braided and filled with glitter before heading to the UGG Australia brunch at the Fredrick Loewe Estate. There we drooled over all the fuzzy sandals that UGG just launched for summer and played in the paper flower garden while eating cotton candy and enjoying many beverages. At night we hit up the Rhonda Queen of the Desert party sponsored by Ray-Ban for some dancing and late night fun.
Coachella is always my favorite time of the year and this season, the parties were especially epic! The classics like Neon Carnival, I always look forward to as well as some new events like Victoria’s Secret Angel Oasis. This year we made it a double date and I traveled around with my girl, Kristi from Currently Crushing. If you’re in the Palm Springs Area, the Tahquitz Canyon Trail is a beautiful way to start the day. Asics outfitted guests outfits including these ASICS DynaFlyte sneakers for a pre-festival hike.
This party did not disappoint, set in a beautiful mansion and with impeccable grounds there was not a shortage of activations or VS Angels dancing! They customized Levi’s denim jackets with angel wings by Phoebe Paints and Julia Adelina. Sarah Potempa of The Beachwaver and her team were doing hair (just like at the VS Fashion Show!), while Tarte was on makeovers (yes, their Shape Tape is everything it’s cracked up to be), and LECHAT was providing nail art and gel manicures. Frasier Sterling was also customizing chokers and RAD + REFINED was bedazzling their sunglasses and featured a special performance by Bebe Rexha! They also debuted their new Sexy Little Things collection, which is so hot! Quick slide show below of some favorites!
I can’t believe Coachella is almost here! I’m so excited for some time with my boyfriend and to see all my LA friends in what I consider three of the most fun days of the year! I’m not even sure if I’m more excited for the festival or the parties! I keep seeing all of these ‘what to wear’ and ‘festival makeup’ tutorials but not so much the nitty gritty essentials that have made the experience so much better. So here it is, my compilation of must haves that will make your life so much easier:
Moisturize – it gets dry in the desert! You want a good moisturizer to start and end your day and put back the hydration. The reformulated Olay Total Effects is a 7 in 1 moisturizer that does it all from replenishing moisture, evening skintone and smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles. The biggest note though for Coachella is in the updated forumla they added 50% more Vitamin E and twice the amount of Green Tea Extract which are two powerful antioxidants that protect skin cells against free radical damage (aka damage from sun exposure). Portable Steamer – those cute clothes mean nothing if they are all wrinkled from traveling. Personally I love Conair Turbo ExtremeSteam Handheld Fabric Steamer, granted it’s a little bulkier than some of the others on the market, it’s by far the best portable steamer I’ve ever used and works as well as my heavy duty one at home.
Coachella weekend 1 is always the hot ticket. It’s when all the brands are out and the parties are off the hook. So much in fact that we only made it to the music festival for one day! We were prepared for this going in, so we also picked up weekend 2 passes to Coachella so we could make weekend 1 all about the parties and plan on spending this weekend glued to the music festival. While we didn’t make it everything (we tried! we gave it a pretty solid effort! Here’s the party round up:

For the past three years, James and I have loved going to Neon Carnival, the late night ‘it’ party of weekend 1 and famed outdoor dance party created by Brent Bolthouse. Hosted at an airplane hangar, the space is one big dance floor surrounded by amusement park rides, games and more. Drawing guests like Leonardo DiCaprio, Rihanna, Jared Leto, Scott Eastwood, Nina Dobrev, Aaron Paul, Alexander Skarsgard, Joe Jonas and so many more we had a blast! Hosted by The Levi’s® Brand, RE/DONE and Tequila Don Julio we went crazy on the rides, ferris wheel, bumper cars… it was a blast! Quick video above for the ferris wheel experience.
Also holding down the late night party game was Calvin Klein who threw a legit warehouse rave filled with lights and DJs that knew how to pump the base and get the crowd moving. Outside the venue there was a magic marker wall where guests could fill out “I ______ in #mycalvins”. They were also serving In-N-Out Burger which was pretty genius.
POPSUGAR hosted a sunset kickoff party, hosted by Emily Ratajkowski at the Avalon Hotel. Hannah Bronfman DJ’ed the party and DSW hooked up the shoes! Guests were gifted indigo rd or Teva sandals and hosted a DIY station to personalize the shoes while Henri Bendel provided the cutest gift bags. POPSUGAR + SHOPSTYLE sure know how to make a girl feel chic poolside.
For the festival weekend Ben Sherman had a branded London Taxi driving festival goers around. James and I had a blast in the back of the cab, dressing up in our matching Ben Sherman hats and having our own personal dance party!
Divided in two parts, Vestal Village is one part a glamping station where two of my blogger friends actually camped overlooking a serene lake and the other half is a raging pool party complete with music and venders selling everything from bathing suits to jewelry. The three day festival and camping grounds is a one stop party!
We had an absolute blast at the The Music Lounge, produced by BMF Media, for the the unveiling of #WHHSH Beer, an exclusive Las Vegas product. Guests enjoyed a highly curated Las Vegas experience coming to life in Palm Springs for one weekend only, featuring performances by G-Eazy and DNCE. Splat offered a hair coloring station — I was all about getting a spruce up and Batiste did a dry shampoo station braid bar. The hot award went to V-Moda for their total bombshell headphones and Related Garments for the cutest socks and undies combos I ever did see.
One party we always look forward to is The dFm house with the ONE Managment BBQ + pool party hosted by chefs Ari Taymor + Chris Kronner of KronnerBurger and The WEDIDIT + Niki Takesh pool party! Shuttled to a private location nestled in the mountains surrounding Palm Springs, we relaxed poolside, eating burgers and exploring the expansive and beautiful grounds.
The Retreat is the most peaceful oasis where everything you could ever wish for comes alive in one location, it’s like rehab for the soul. Homemade ice cream by Salt & Straw, healthy catering and drinks for days (kombucha, Perrier, fresh juices and ones a bit stiffer). Then there’s the pampering which included a barbershop (where they actually offered hair cuts), braid bar by Glamsquad and makeovers by e.l.f. cosmetics. Facials and massages by Caudalie who gave Coachella goers a supercharged boost of hydration with their detoxifying + firming body treatments. I love everything Caudalie but if you haven’t tried their Grape Water and Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet, you’re missing out!
Amazon & Suki Waterhouse hosted the Style Code Live Soiree at the Korakia Pensione. For any of you unaware, Style Code Live is Amazon’s new live stream fashion and beauty show hosted by Lyndsey Rodrigues, Rachel Smith and Frankie Grande. I need no excuse to drink Moet and hang out with the Style Code crew, they are my favorites! We even shot a little style segment for the show while poolside that you’ll hopefully be seeing soon!
I’m in a complete music festival state of mind. I’ve been zipping around LA this past week getting ready. and this is the first year that I feel like I’m doing it completely proper! I’ll be in Palm Springs for both weekends to really enjoy all of the fun parties without feeling like I’m missing most of Coachella. And then weekend 2, I’ll be all about the music festival (and in between the two weeks I’ll be touring the Palm Springs area and Joshua Tree. Of all the days I’m most looking forward to Saturday! If any of you will be there (if all goes to plan), here’s what to expect on Bloglovin’ snapchat: I’ll be hitting up Vestal Village in the morning, then heading to the #WHHSH party (where Splat is going to pimp out my hair) before being picked up by the Ben Sherman London cab — sounds amazing right?. After that theirs a a DFM House party and one for Basecamp and then I’m power napping in preparation of the most exciting late night party of Palm Springs, Neon Carnival!
As far as I’m concerned, the only person that can pack light and still look beyond on point everyday for Coachella, is Patricia Field. I could definitely take a cue from her organizational skills from our trip together last year. At least I’ve picked up a few tricks of my own when it comes to packing my makeup — I finally found the winning combination between LeSportsac travel pouches and this Caboodle traincase.

Day 3 (April 13th) could not have come with a better start. Glasses.com, the official eyewear sponsor of Coachella invited us to their VIP Glasses Half Full Coachella Party, which was like rehab for the soul. The space was so relaxing and beautiful, there was a live piano player and healthy bites from Fat Radish. Our fellow NYC pals, Vanity Projects we’re also at the event offering cool nail art and manicures. We lounged around the compound and visited the gifting suites from Sandro New York, Caeden headphones (which are a super cool design) and glasses.com. I found a pair of Rivet & Sway glasses that matched my hair perfectly and didn’t take them off the rest of the day (see pictured below).
After a super packed day 1 of Coachella (check out the full recap HERE), we decided for day 2 (Saturday, April 12th) we’d take the morning off and start the day with Pandora jewelry. Hosted at the Parker Hotel where we were staying, Pandora did a super cool activation during Coachella in which every day they partnered with a different designer and featured an exclusive runway show. Friday night they kicked off with Siwy Denim, Saturday with Nanette Lepore and Plenty by Tracy Reese and Sunday with WHit.
It’s hard to believe Coachella has come and gone! James and I had so much fun this season and having Patricia Field as our date is every bit as awesome as you would imagine and more! The three of us hit some miles in our Chevy Trax (which was the perfect travel car!) in our 4 days in Palm Springs (plus two in LA!).
We kicked off Coachella the night before the music festival at the “Not a Pool Party” kick off at Hard Rock Hotel Palm Springs. Headlining the event was Elliphant, who unfortunately we left before she went on (had to rest up for the 1st day of Coachella)! We did however catch, PPL MVR, which was by far one of the strangest performances I have ever seen (and that says a lot).
