You’re Invited! Sept. 18th – Women’s Health Presents Are You Game?

It’s been a long week, I’m burnt out. How about you? After being on planes all summer and then diving into a wonderful week in New York for fashion shows, presentations and parties I’m inspired! And slightly sleep deprived. While I should be spending this weekend writing, writing, writing (and I will!), I need some physical activity to jump start my endorphins up that doesn’t involve running around the city in my Mui Mui’s.

So TOMORROW, Saturday, Sept. 18th lets get active and join Women’s Health in their

Backstage at Marc Jacobs SS2011 Show

NARS Cosmetics and Redken 5th Avenue joined forced to create the makeup and hair look for Marc Jacobs RTW Spripg 2011 fashion show.

LEAD MAKEUP ARTIST: François Nars, Founder & Creative Director of NARS Cosmetics
TREND: Glossy green eyes & deep matte lips

LOOK & INSPIRATION: “The look is very reminiscent of Angelica Houston in the 70s-the bleached brows and the deep eyes,” said François Nars. “I wanted them to look like iconic models from the 70s with a modern approach. Marc had images of what he wanted the makeup to look like – mimicking the colors of the clothing but not matching exactly.”

Get the look! Here are the key NARS products used for the show:

LEAD HAIR STYLIST: Guido Palau for Redken
HIGHLIGHTS: Guido created four different looks for the show, using lots of flowers and hats.  Inspired simply by “Marc’s clothes”, he used a combination of two Redken products, Thickening Lotion and Quick Dry 18 Instant Finishing Spray.

Haircut Discrimination

Did you know it’s illegal for hair salons to publish prices for men and woman’s haircuts at different rates? It violates the Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA Code and NY Human Rights Law. Who knew? Apparently Time Out New York

Fashion’s Night Out 2010

Tonight is the 2nd annual Fashion’s Night Out in NYC.  If there’s one thing I learned from last year is you can’t do it all. So pick an area, create a list of places you’d like to visit,  and expect lines for any of the stores with larger events since they generally are the ones to hit capacity the quickest. No matter what though if you’re in NYC don’t skip it because it’s a fashionista’s Halloween and one hell of a party.

I’ve made it through (most of) my emails and here’s some exciting happenings. For more information visit fashionsnightout.com and follow them on twitter @FNONYC
