NYFW: Pencey Spring/Summer 2013 Presentation

This Fashion Week, Pencey’s Christina Minanian collaborated with famed DJ Mia Moretti to put together a 10-piece jazz era inspired collection for the Spring/Summer 2013 presentation. Unique and flowery, Moretti’s personal style was a great addition to Pency’s collection. The juxtaposition of simple stripes and intricate flower designs definitely made for an eye-catching presentation.

NYFW: DEGEN Spring/Summer 2013 Presentation

“The REVOLUTION will be CRAFTIVISED” was the slogan of Lindsay Degen’s namesake DEGEN Spring/Summer presentation and it could not be more on point. Lindsay’s passion for knitting is evident and her funky and creative sense of style is the basis for all her work.

Inside 632 Hudson: (You’ll wish you lived here)

I’ve been to some pretty fabulous roof decks, penthouse apartments and other dwellings during my 10 years in NYC, but other then the time I was randomly invited to Sean Parker’s 30th birthday party at his ridiculously large 5 story brownstone, or the graduation party I attended at the former home of Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio, 632 Hudson is the nicest apartment mansion turned event space I’ve been to in this city. The location (prime West Villiage property, blocks from the Meatpacking district), the decor, the roof deck and oh the square footage… all to die for and it’s completely unexpected from the outside.

Privately owned by actress Karen Lashinsky, the space is available for photo-shoots and events alike. Prior to attending an event for The World Gold Council, I’d never heard of the space — despite walking past it an unprecedented amount of time.

Oh to have this be my address and home… A girl can dream!

China takes a que from Blue Man Group all in the name of sun protection

If wide-brimmed hats and sunblock just aren’t enough for you and the idea of just staying indoors is less appealing then putting on a full on face mask before hitting the beach, well congratulations we found you a solution! Meet the latest craze to hit the shores of China, the “Face-Kini”, the beach-friendly swim mask guaranteed to protect from harmful sun rays.

{This could be you!}

I really hope this trend doesn’t catch on.

Available in a multitude of colors, the Face-Kini sells for 15 to 25 yuan ($2.50 – $4.00). Read more at dailymail.co.uk

Project Runway and Lord & Taylor: Match Made in TV Heaven

This summer Lifetime’s hit show, Project Runway, is celebrating its 10th anniversary season by introducing an exclusive partnership with retailer, Lord & Taylor. Among other things, fans can expect to see a never-before-done challenge in which Project Runway will showcase a custom-built “accessories wall”, as well as an assortment of Lord & Taylor shoes, accessories, and handbags that contestants will use for the 10th episode competition. This particular episode will take place at the Fifth Avenue flagship store and will air on Thursday, August 30th.

The grand prize winner will have the opportunity to sell their collection at Lord & Taylor stores.

You can follow the progress of the contestants and watch exclusive interviews on the Lord & Taylor website and via Lord & Taylor Facebook page and Twitter. The store will also host appearances from past and present contestants during this year’s Fashion’s Night Out!

Keep a look out! This will undoubtedly be an exciting collaboration!

G-Shock Shocks the World at 30th Anniversary Bash

I recently peaked into the world Casio G-Shock as the brand celebrated it’s 30th anniversary kick-off event at the Manhattan Center.  Casio has a lot to celebrate in the upcoming months, with innovative and impressive watches being launched throughout the year – several in collaboration with professional athletes and artists (any Eminem fans out there?).

The press conference started with a history of the G-Shock brand, included a demonstration of G-Shock’s toughness by being launched against a metal wall, and concluded with an exciting roster of watches that the world can expect to see coming soon. “Absolute toughness” was what the engineers of Casio set out to achieve, and they certainly did not fail at creating an indestructible watch and indestructible brand. The Future of Fashion: Tech Edition

I wouldn’t consider myself “techie” per se, but after attending last week’s Future of Fashion event, (which is part of the Emerging Startup Series held at Projective Space), there are several tech/app start-up companies that are now on my radar.

Several founders presented their creations to a crowd and high profile panelists, who included Steven Alan, fashion designer (@Steven_Alan), Philippe von Borries, Co-Founder of Refinery29 (@refinery29), and Keegan Vance Forte, Chief of Staff at AOL Ventures (@keeganforte). If you’re into fashion and keep up with current trends, here are some apps you should check out:

Cloth – If you’re that girl who posts outfit pics, then take note. The app allows you to snap a pic and keep track of what you wore and how you wore it, while connecting you to social media sites so you can get feedback from friends and fans. The best part is the creators recently started collaborating with wunderground.com so you can get real time weather data – these two sites working together means real time advice as to what outfits you should and should not wear for the current conditions! Follow @clothapp and visit clothapp.com for more information.

Bazaart – Pinterest meets scrapbooking with this creative and fun app. The idea behind it is a user-generated fashion catalogue. Users can shop while making art. This allows for each person to make personal shopping

Send a card with the justWink app…

I’m a card person. I get it from my mom, who actually has a collection of them. Whenever she sees a great card, she purchases it and adds it to the collection so whenever she has an occasion warranting the perfect card, she’s fully stocked. And why? Because a good card make someone’s day! While most of us will pick up a card on our way to a friends birthday, housewarming, wedding or otherwise in-person event, it feels like the act of mailing cards is on the decline. That’s where the justWink app comes in.

You may know justWink from their fun and quirky cards sold nationally at drugstores, well the greeting cards company has created an app that lets you send a card via text, facebook, email, twitter and even mail! Plus you can set it to sink with Facebook for birthday reminders making it that much easier to tell someone you’re thinking about them on their day.

To learn more about how you can Buy Real Phentermine Online have a look at this buy Phentermine website to buy Phentermine online

Here’s how it works: Smartphone and ipad owners download the justWink app. From there you can browse cards based on different occasions and pick your favorite!

My beau is currently driving cross country so I thought a card to let him know I’m thinking of him would be a nice touch — and what better way to say that then with two ice cream cones making out?

Card picked, clicked “send me now!”  From there you can click on the different fields to personalize it with a picture and message.

I uploaded a pic of the two of us from my iPhone, typed in a message, and signed. Voila!

I then hit “send!” And it gives you the option to email, facebook, twitter, text mst, real mail ($2.99)… I opted for email and look at how cute it is when it goes into the recipients inbox!!!

What’s also awesome is that you get an email in your inbox once the person you sent it to opens it. The app is incredibly well thought out and user friendly — I rated it 5 stars in the App Store as did the other 137 people who reviewed it before me. My only feedback for justWink is more cards options, more card options! Although they seem to be adding to the assortment regularly, I’m just impatient.

So get downloading and let someone you think is special know that you’re thinking of them!

ABOUT: justWink is an awesome collection of greeting cards that feature bold colors, adorable illustrations, and witty copy for every occasion.  The combination of whimsical unicorns, sweater-wearing cats, and (of course) bacon with realistic, yet playful messages create an unexpected experience for all.  And guess what?  Each card has a QR code and URL on the back that directs you to a free justWink app for iPhone and Android phones.  Download the app and you can send digital cards via text, email or Facebook.  For more information and where to find justWink cards on shelf, visit www.just-wink.com or www.facebook.com/justwink.
