We all love the convenience of Uber but hate the crazy surcharges (which seem to be growing faster then the company), enter Gett, the ultimate transportation app in NYC. With a touch of a button you can order a black car. Once you place your order – no phone calls necessary – you will be assigned one of Gett’s professional drivers in seconds.
Join us for #100HappyDays
I don’t know if it’s the change in the weather, living in New York City or just plain human nature but there are days when I’m on top of the world and the next I feel completely kicked down. (And most of the time for no apparent reason). One thing that
Day 3 Uganda: The Wedding (and the Outfit)
Out of Africa
Greetings from Africa! I’ll be in Uganda for the next two weeks, exploring the countryside and dancing with elephants (if all goes to plan). If you’re interested in following my adventures check out my instagram page @prettyconnected, where I will be regularly updating.
Shopping with Enterprise CarShare
Living in a city like NYC where owning a car can be such a hassle, and cheap car rentals can be hard to find (especially last minute), car sharing services like Enterprise CarShare or Zipcar can be such a savior. I’m in the process of redoing my apartment so the amount of errands I need to run where a car is so necessary has been stacking up. Usually I can get away with putting it in a taxi but when it comes to the big stuff and even more so going out to the boroughs (ahem to Ikea) nothing tops a car.
Coffee Break with Kenneth Cole to Celebrate his New Book #30YRSBOLD
If you’ve walked by any Kenneth Cole store recently, you’ll notice in the windows large decals with the hashtag, #30YRSBOLD. That’s right, friends the brand is celebrating their 30 years of existence. And what better way to document the three decades then with a book.
Last week, I joined Kenneth Cole for a cup of extremely fancy coffee — an artist actually drew a picture of John Lennon
TRANSFORMBER By Lou Reed and Mick Rock Book Launch at John Varvatos
Now this is one for the books! On Thursday, I stopped by the John Varvatos store for the launch of rock legends, Lou Reed and Mick Rock’s new photography book, TRANSFORMER. Moderated by John Varvatos himself, he took to the stage with Lou Reed and Mick Rock asking questions about rock, the 70s and their journey together through this age of music and the images captured in the book.
Swoon: A Dating App that Makes Dating Fun (for real)
I know what you’re thinking, how can anything about online dating be fun. And I get it, the dating world — especially for my fellow sista’s in NYC is particularly challenging. But here’s the deal, last week I attended the relaunch event for the Swoon App and in a sea of online dating services this is definitely one that stands out.
Molly Messenger, product head manager for the app, explained it well when saying, “there are no long forms to fill out (who reads those anyway?). It’s an iPhone app that is linked to your Facebook profile. Don’t worry it doesn’t post anything on your wall. The app just pulls you pictures so you have a few decent ones to start.”
Remember that site, “hot or not?”, it’s like that with some Pandora like algorithms that basically tries to find men based on your preferences, interests and age range. Here’s how it works, the app links to your Facebook profile and then pulls up friends of your friends pictures, interests, age as well as displays your mutual friends and you either swipe ‘left’ if you’re interested, ‘right’ if you’re not. Either way, it’s completely anonymous and in no way will that person find out you’ve reviewed their profile (nor will your mutual friends) unless they have reviewed yours to and you’ve both swiped accordingly as interested. From there you can go on a date and live happily ever after and then cancel your account. Did I mention the app is free?
The video says it all…
Notable guests, at the event included that ’70s Show actor Wilmer Valderama, Real Housewives of New Jersey‘s Albie Manzo and socialite Tinsley Mortimer. Naturally my swoon date match was Wilmer — or at least I like to think so if we weren’t both happily taken.
What are you waiting for, go swoon and send me a wedding invite!
Hamptons Highlights: 7 Great Summer Moments
Happy Monday everyone! It’s Labor Day which means that Hamptons season is officially coming to a close — although ironically, I’ll be there for a bachelorette party next weekend so may be a bit of an overstatement. Even still, with summer slowly leaving us and with it my time out east, here’s a throwback to 7 great moments that made this a summer to remember.
1. Brunch with Bentley
It doesn’t get too much more posh then breakfast at the Beechnut Hill Farm Estate of Jeffrey Colle for Bentley’s.
