UGG Celebrates 35 Years of Awesomeness

IMG_3021Last week, we boogied down with UGG Australia in celebration of their 35th Anniversary. The brand that made the classic sheepskin boot a household shoe — I mean who doesn’t own a pair? It’s like a trap. Once your feet know that kind of comfort, you’ll never go without a set in your arsenal.

Shopping at HomeGoods…

HomeGoods

Amidst being the the process of renovating my apartment, I took a stroll through the spring/summer HomeGoods preview where tragically the display items were not for sale — otherwise my apartment may be done. I’ve always loved HomeGoods but for an item here and a great deal there. I had no idea their furniture offerings were so vast and AMAZING! From dining room chairs to throw pillows to benches… oh and the desk in that last picture is gorgeous! My only complaint was that you can’t order from HomeGoods online to which the team hinted, maybe soon. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Take McQueen home

Alexander McQueen and Martin Patrick Evan – a True Couture Collection for the Home.

During the last decade, most iconic fashion designers of our time have expanded their design from the runway to our rooms. Edouard Daunas of Martin Patrick Evan, Ltd. did just that.  Being highly inspired by the Alexander McQueen show at the Metropolitan Museum of Art last year, he created the “Raw Nature” collection.

“I was attracted to the movement in design created through a static medium with the use of the various materials.  We referenced some of the designs in a variety of our refined qualities including cut pile silk/wool blend that gives just enough shimmer and movement.” says Daunas.

And if I’ve been to your wedding or if you plan on inviting me, spoiler alert expect a Michael Aram. (I scan all registries for his name.)

Fendi Furnishes The Setai at 400 Fifth Avenue

You know the saying those who can’t do, teach? Well that’s kind of how I feel about my recent visit to the private residences at the Setai Fifth Avenue for the FENDI CASA in the Sky event. As in, I was in a gorgeous penthouse apartment on 400 Fifth Avenue, fully furnished in FENDI’s home collection: beds, carpets, chandeliers, tables, throws, pillows… EVERYTHING FENDI! So to tie this back to my analogy — those who don’t live here, pretend.

{Welcome to my home! Is it chilly in here? Excuse me while I put on a FENDI throw}

Zara Home now sold in the US!

So funny story… I was on a press trip in Poland last month and stumbled across a Zara Home store. I was so instantly obsessed and taken aback that I didn’t go in – why do that to myself; it’s not like I can shop the store or fit any home goods in my over-packed carry on luggage. Instead I just marveled at the window display – and tweeted a picture saying “please open in the US”, and what do you know

Inside 632 Hudson: (You’ll wish you lived here)

I’ve been to some pretty fabulous roof decks, penthouse apartments and other dwellings during my 10 years in NYC, but other then the time I was randomly invited to Sean Parker’s 30th birthday party at his ridiculously large 5 story brownstone, or the graduation party I attended at the former home of Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio, 632 Hudson is the nicest apartment mansion turned event space I’ve been to in this city. The location (prime West Villiage property, blocks from the Meatpacking district), the decor, the roof deck and oh the square footage… all to die for and it’s completely unexpected from the outside.

Privately owned by actress Karen Lashinsky, the space is available for photo-shoots and events alike. Prior to attending an event for The World Gold Council, I’d never heard of the space — despite walking past it an unprecedented amount of time.

Oh to have this be my address and home… A girl can dream!

Rory Dobner opens NYC Shop-in-Shop at Maison 24

I need to start this post with… If you’ve never been to Maison 24 and love really edgy modern art and unique eclectic home decor pieces (and have a high decorating budget), you need go!

Started by bother and sister duo, Allison Julius and Louis Marra, the store is a reflection of their travels around the globe and selects of unique products, as well as design their own items. Maison 24 brings together products and designs, artist exclusives (like Dobner) that are modern, traditional, serious, and quirky in a unique and oh-so-hip, setting.

My familiarity with the store bridges from references to their original Bridgehampton’s location. It wasn’t until receiving an invitation for the launch of Rory Dobner premiering a shop-in-shop at Maison 24, that I realized they have an NYC location (which launched last July).

As for Rory Dobner, international man of art who has worked and exhibited in the UK, USA, Australia, Haiti, Hong Kong, and New Zealand before returning to the UK in 2005 and setting up a studio in Hampstead, London. Rory has completed a variety of impressive commissions and interior design projects in the U.S. including Soho House and Agent Provocateur and has also been commissioned to do projects for will.i.am, Kate Moss, and Robert Downey Jr. And now as of last week, his work resides in a little boutique in the back room of Maison 24.

Ahhhhh! Not since I used to hang out at Leila Sham‘s apartment have I wanted a home makeover so badly! There are so many cool, unique pieces. It was everything I expected and more (including the price tag). Le sigh. Someday…

Jo Malone Launches NEW Home Collection

Jo Malone Home Collection

Does anyone else have total brand envy when it comes to Jo Malone? I literally have fantasies about owning a London flat and having my apartment inspired by their store design and packaging (and of course my imaginary home is fully stocked with their products).

Which is exciting, because this month, Jo Malone plays into my fantasy by introducing an assortment of limited edition home products. The collection consists of Scent Surround Diffusers (165ml/$75), Room Sprays (175ml/$55), Sachets ($35) and Drawer Liners ($45) and is available in three of their signature scents, Lime Basil & Mandarin, Pomegranate Noir and Red Roses. They really are so luxurious and add a little je ne sais quoi to a room.

{Scent Surround Sachets and Drawer Liners — you can find the Lime Basil $ Mandarin scent in my dresser}

If you’re wondering what I’m taking about as far as Jo Malone aesthetic, step into the their Bleecker Street boutique (or really any of their stores) and you’ll know what I’m talking about.

And while you’re there, if you’re looking for something fresh and new for spring, try their London Blooms collection! It consists of three new fragrances: Peony & Moss (my favorite), White Lilac & Rhubarb and Iris & Lady Moore.

The Jo Malone London Home Collection and London Bloom fragrances are now available at Jo Malone.
