NYFW: David Tlale Spring/Summer 2013 Presentation

David Tlale’s Spring/Summer 2013 Presentation, appropriately named “Transcendence”, showcased beautiful range of red, orange, and yellow colors, and very intricate detail. As the name suggests and David Tlale explains, the collection is a celebration of spirit and serves to free the viewer of the limitations of culture, history, and geography, and instead unites us in the beauty of fashion.

NYFW: Ruffian Spring/Summer 2013 Runway Show (+ finale video)

For the Spring/Summer 2013 show, Ruffian wanted to explore their love of couture within the context of Williamsburg, Brooklyn where they live. While the word couture didn’t come to mind when watching the models walk down the runway, it did make me reminiscent of my years living on Bedford Avenue. Sure, their were hipster elements – skinnies with oversized top,  printed pants, skirts and tops, (and all matched with Converse) — but it wasn’t contrived or trying to hard. The contrast of the baroque counterbalanced the minimalism, street style, and luxury fabrics that were cut into classic American utilitarian shapes.

I took a video of the finale for you:)

Favorite looks… (I love the relaxed comfort of it all and the styling with Converse}

NYFW: Carlos Miele Spring/Summer 2013 Runway Show (+ Video)

If there are two designers that do long flowing, summer chiffon dresses well its Matthew Williamson and Carlow Miele. For Spring/Summer 2013, Carlos Miele stayed true to his style but went into a “hallucinatory jungle” for the inspiration of the collection.

Hallucinatory jungle is evident in the variety of colorful animal prints – giraffe print in phosphate blue, a tiger skin in oxidized yellow, the zebraesque black and white combinations

NYFW: Katie Gallagher Spring/Summer 2013 Presentation

I’m not sure what I was expecting when I walked into a room on one of the top floors of the Standard Hotel, but Katie Gallagher did not fail to impress with her Spring/Summer 2013 presentation. With the almost hypnotic voice of Ella Joyce Buckley singing in the background, enhanced the intensity to the already drama-filled “Everything Forever” collection that stood before me.

PC Celebrates Lucky Magazine’s NEW Ultimate Style Guide

Friday night, I joined Beauty and Fashion News Director of Lucky Magazine (who’s actually my favorite beauty editor), Jean Godfrey-June for the kickoff of Lucky’s NEW Ultimate Style Guide.

I know what you’re thinking, isn’t that what they produce every month in your subscription? Yes, and no — unlike the magazine (which focuses on what’s new, trends and where to buy/shop), there’s no selling in The Ultimate Style Guide (I’m talking no outfit credits, prices or where to purchase info). Instead, it’s is all about showing you how to style and accessorize similar pieces you already own (or will want to own after reading). It also covers their favorite beauty products, tips and secrets. Laid out like a magazine but organized like a book, the guide is separated into 13 chapters (each article: dresses, jackets, bags… to beauty; hair, skin, makeup have their own section) to give you “Every Fashion & Beauty

NYFW: “Strut” The Fashionable Mom Show Hosted by Wendy Williams

The biggest (non-fashion) trend of fashion week — besides iPads as cameras — moms! And this season they took the stage at Lincoln Center during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week for an unforgettable runway show hosted by Wendy Williams.

The crowd which consisted of (and celebrated) real moms, including actress Lisa Rinna, who walked the runway with a sexy back and white cocktail dress and then later again in a gold sequin number.  There were a variety of other moms that walked as well with their children dressed in various outfits from sporty to fancy.

All the models confirmed…

NYFW: Pencey Spring/Summer 2013 Presentation

This Fashion Week, Pencey’s Christina Minanian collaborated with famed DJ Mia Moretti to put together a 10-piece jazz era inspired collection for the Spring/Summer 2013 presentation. Unique and flowery, Moretti’s personal style was a great addition to Pency’s collection. The juxtaposition of simple stripes and intricate flower designs definitely made for an eye-catching presentation.
