The perfect holiday hair combo: Fekkai and Jennifer Behr!

IMG_4861‘Tis the season to glam up your tresses and Fekkai definitely taught me a thing or two about holiday hair! I recently visited the salon for what can only be described as a complete hair transformation. Fekkai teamed up with hair accessories designer Jennifer Behr for the evening and her collection makes for the perfect accent for any holiday look.

With the cold months ahead one of the first battles when it comes to healthy hair is combating winter dryness. Fekkai recently launched their PrX Reparatives Collection, which is designed to transform dry unmanageable hair into soft silky hair with movement. The collection consists of the PrX Shampoo ($30-$49), PRX Conditioner ($30-$49), PrX Preparative Intensive Fortifying Mask ($49) and PrX Reparatives 3 Day Transformation ($100).IMG_4877

My fabulous Fekkai stylist, Hos Hounkpatin, used the shampoo and conditioner on my hair as well as Fekkai styling products and as embarrassing as it is

How to Hair: Knot It Up

image (7)Any hairdo that can look so chic and encourages an element of messy, I’m all over. The high top knot bun has been all the rage this season and my friends at Schwarzkopf Professional shared a quick how to for the signature “Knot it Up” look compliments of SP Brand Ambassadors Nicole Hartmann. Get the look, here’s how:

  • image (8)Start by securing strands into a high ponytail and then apply a small amount of OSiS Shape Gloss Wax by Schwarzkopf Professional, which will give hair sleek texture, satin-like control and high gloss shine.
  • Then divide hair into two sections and twist each section to the right.
  • Next twist both sections together, working towards the left, as if you were making a rope.
  • Once twisted, tie the bottom with a hair elastic and gently pull the rope apart, working from the bottom up. You will be left with a somewhat deconstructed rope.
  • Then work hair to the top of your head, securing the knot with bobby pins.
  • For a movable and touchable control, finish the look with OSiS Elastic Flexible Hold Hairspray by Schwarzkopf Professional.

Talking beauty with Molly Sims

image040Recently I caught up with the ever so delightful model/actress (and new mom!), Molly Sims at BLOW salon in NYC for a special event hosted by Rembrandt and Neutrogena.  It was an evening filled with teeth whitening touch ups, hair blow-outs and mini makeovers by Neutrogena brand ambassador Amy Oresman.

While at the event I ran into Shy from the Beauty and the Feast Blog and together we took the opportunity to ask Mrs. Sims a few questions and get the 411 on her beauty essentials (and then of course I saw props and conned everyone into taking a funny pic).

Congratulations on your beautiful baby boy! How did your life change once you became a mother?

Molly Sims (MS): My showers got really short! I went from a 30 minute shower, which is terrible to admit, to like a two minute one. I used to have a lot more time on my hands, and now there’s

1. Sennheiser Momentum headphones ($349.95) – Most high quality headphones these days seemed to be targeted for kids — huge logos, made of plastic and offered in a whole variety of colors. Don’t get us wrong we love those too, however Sennheiser is our top choice for a more grown up sense of style if you will, with metal and leather, they’re timeless and so chic on. It’s not overly branded and gaudy and offers great sound. It’s sturdy, solid feeling and a true comfortable over the ear fit that aren’t too tight even with glasses on.

2. myCharge portable phone chargers ($39.99 – $99.99) – They’re a lifesaver. If you’re constantly on the go and have chronic low-phone-bettery disease, then myCharge could change your life. Their battery paks last anywhere from 4 – 27 hours of talk time depending on the model.  myCharge is available for Blackberry, Motoaloa, Nokia, Samsung, iPhone and tablet users.

Laser Hair Removal – What to Expect with Permanent Hair Removal

The Laser Hair Removal Experience: What to expect when using this permanent hair removal method.

Screen Shot 2012-12-18 at 3.58.01 PM

If you’re searching for the best way to remove hair, chances are you’ve decided shaving and waxing aren’t the most effective tactics.  That’s because they don’t offer a permanent hair removal solution. Laser hair removal, however, does indeed offer permanent results.

Learn more about what to expect with laser hair removal by reading these frequently asked questions below.

How does it work?

Laser hair removal works by sending a beam of light energy that travels through the shaft of your hair to reach the hair pigment. As the pigment is heated by the light energy, the hair follicle is disabled and prevented from re-growing.

How many treatments does it take to achieve permanent hair removal?

Only hair in the active growth stage has enough pigment present for laser hair removal to work and disable the follicle. Because of this, it will take several treatments for laser hair removal to deliver permanent results.  Depending on how fast your hair grows and much hair you have, you can repeat the procedure two to six weeks after you original treatment. Most users will begin to notice results after a few treatments, but it can take up to six months to a year to achieve permanent hair removal.

Does it work for all hair colors?

Because the laser energy targets the pigment found in hairs, it works best on

Laura Mercier Kohl Eye Pencil Set ($32, $75 value) – In a world where eyeliner pencils are generally harder formulas, I’m grateful for Laura Mercier’s Kohl Eye Pencils, which glide on smoothly and have a much softer formula then other brands on the market. It”s easy to apply on the inside lining of the eyelid & the base of the lashes for a stand alone look, or it can be smudged and worked onto the eyelid for a smokey effect. This set comes in 5 Shades include Stormy Grey, Black Violet, Brown Copper, Black Gold and Black Navy.
