Have you ever stopped and wondered what is under the green dress? If so, you may just have the opportunity to find out on October 16th , when natural beauty, Marge Simpson, graces the cover in a 3 page pictorial of Playboy’s November 2009 issue. With the average reader around 35, Playboy hopes that in bringing to bare this mother of three, they will attract a 20s crowd to the magazine, while also marking the 20th anniversary of the Simpsons. Well that certainly says a lot about my generation. Either that, or she’s just trying to get some attention from her Homie.

President Obama Wins the Nobel Peace Prize
I could come up with some clever verbiage on how the announcement of President Obama’s win of the Nobel Peace Prize today ties into beauty, but really it’s just huge news that I felt was worth announcing. Click HERE for the NY Times article.
Legendary Fashion Photographer Irving Penn Dies at 92
Celebrated photographer Irving Penn died Wednesday at his home in Manhattan at the age of 92. Considered one of the most influential fashion photographers of the 20th century, Penn’s global notoriety began in 1943 when he started working at Vogue.
“In my career, I have met no one else who worked with the level of imaginative intensity and economy of Irving Penn,” said Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. “His photographs were as exquisite and electrifying in the last year of his life as they were in 1943, when he started contributing to Vogue. To have been a colleague and friend of one of the greatest artists of the 20th century is a privilege greater than I could have ever imagined.”
Growing up, both Richard Avedon and Irving Penn captured everything I loved about fashion and brought such beauty and elegance to every shot they released. When I read the headlines of Penn’s passing this morning, I could not help but feel very sentimental. His photographs have deeply moved me and I appreciate them so much. Rest in peace Irving Penn.

Choo on this! Fragrance isn’t Saab-ing this week!
This is a big week for fragrance with Jimmy Choo and Elie Saab both signing fragrance deals!
Jimmy Choo signed a 12-year fragrance licensing agreement with Inter Parfums effective January 1st. Founder and president, Tamara Mellon, comments, “It has always been my vision to fully accessorize the woman, and fragrance is an integral part of the modern wardrobe.” Feel free to dress me head to toe any day of the week!
Meanwhile, Elie Saab signed a 10-year fragrance (and cosmetic!) license agreement with Beauty Prestige International (BPI). “Creating a fragrance has become an essential step of the development of our couture house,” says Saab. “We have chosen BPI as a partner who is able to actualize our ambitions. We will create together a signature fragrance and an image that embody the DNA of our brand.”
I’m obsessed with Elie Saab, he makes some of the most beautiful clothing I have ever seen. If this fragrance embodies any part of that man’s talent or ability to make a woman feel anything short of perfection, then sign me up!

Bad Hair Day for Chris Rock’s Good Hair
After Chris Rock’s five year old daughter, Lola asked him “Daddy, how come I don’t have good hair”, the perplexed comedian set out on a journey around to world to document what black men and woman go through for beautiful hair. The result of Rock’s exploration into the multi-million dollar African American hair industry is birthed in Roadside Attractions and HBO Films’ Good Hair. Co-written and produced by Rock the film will debut in theaters this Friday, October 9th.
Unfortunately, Rock is having a bad hair day. According to Access Hollywood, Regina Kimbell is suing rock for copyright infringement, unfair competition and fraud (yikes!), claiming the documentary is very similar to her film, “My Nappy Roots: A Journey Through Black Hair-itage.” Kimbell is suing in the amount of at least $5 Million.
