Smith & Cult Founder Dineh Mohajer Gives Us a Sneak Peek at the Fall 2017 Collection

Confession: I have a major girl crush on Dineh Mohajer. She’s the co-founder of Smith & Cult but also fun fact… the original founder of Hard Candy, and those pastel square nail polishes with the gummy rings on top, which I used to compulsively buy at Urban Outfitters as a teenager — so the inner teenager in me actually freaks out every time she’s in town and I get to share the same air space as her. Since she sold it to LVMH, it’s a totally different brand now with meh packaging, she launched her newer venture of Smith & Cult in 2014. Originally a nail polish brand (their packaging is epic!), they launched lip and eye over the past year and this year expanded into face! Their top sellers are actually The Tainted Lip Stain shade, Kissing Tiny Flower, followed by 1972, the rose gold nail polish that made headlines for them (Byrdie reported it sold out in less than 8 hours for them).

I recently joined Dineh and the team in NYC to celebrate and play with their new Fall 2017 collection. This collection features all new shade extensions in almost all of their existing categories, which is super exciting. I’ve only played with half the collection, the rest I swatched at the event for sneak peek at what’s to come later this month!

Book of Sun, “Chapter 2”, $40

A blush and bronzer duo that features a rosette shade and a toasted taupe for a vibrant and glowing complexion. Full disclosure, I only played with this at the event so I don’t have an official opinion yet but I did get to swatch it!

Illumify, “Summersault”, $36

This is a fun shimmering highlight stick with a golden peachy hue that has an easy apply cream-to-powder formula. Obsessed! Let me repeat, it literally goes on like a cream and then transforms into a powder so it doesn’t have that greasy or gloss after feel — and how pretty is that swatch?!?!

B-line Eye Pen, “Republic of Splendor”, $26

An eyeliner in an evergreen shade that can actually be super flattering for some eye colors. It provides a silky matte finish that promises not to budge or smudge throughout the day. It’s also super pigmented and wet so it’s easy to apply. It’s water resistant and then some, I’m pretty sure I can shower with it on and unless the showerhead is spitting out makeup remover, it would stay put. The green convinced me I need it in black (which they previously launched).

Book of Eyes Eye Quad, “Song for Fields”, $44

The pigments in this little palette are so good! These crease resistant shadows can be used for a day or night look, and the colors are beautiful. I can’t stop wearing the gold! It’s a beautiful palette and so travel/purse friendly! The Shining Lip Lacquers, $22

I’m a huge fan of these lip lacquers, the new shades “Marriage No. 2” (a papaya shade), I’m actually dying for and “Milk for Hunny” (a pretty puddy shade), I did try but it drowns me out a little but is so pretty! It’s less sheer then the papaya shade and on a more fair skin tone so amazing! These lippies are moisturizing and volumizing to add little oomph (and by oomph I mean dimension) to your pout.

The Tainted Lip Stained Flatte, “Demon Dazed”, $24

This matte liquid lipstick is also a stain, so you don’t have to worry about flaking and dryness. It also hydrates lips, and the new shade “Demon Dazed” is a bold burnt red terracotta color, perfect for a night out.

Nailed Lacquers, $18

Two new shades called “Fosse Fingers” and “Tang Bang” were introduced and they include a metallic terracotta and an opaque burnt orange, both with a high shine finish.Smith & Cult Fall 2017 collection
