After traveling the past five weeks my hair needed some serious love. I took the quiz on Living Proof’s site and rounded up an arsenal of products I’ve been dying to try as well as some favorites that are my tried and true. As someone who travels a lot and hates committing to a large size of any product before knowing if it works for me, it makes me so happy that Living Proof offers a lot of sets and multiple sizes in their product line. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve started with a travel size product and then upgraded to the largest size after testing.
What I’ve always loved about Living Proof is their approach to hair. They develop products from the molecular level and utilize advanced scientific technologies that originated from MIT to solve the toughest hair problems. Their site is a wealth of information with tutorials and how-tos for just about every hair style. They also offer a quiz to understand your hair type and hair goals. I have thin hair, but a lot of it (so it appears thick) so I get greasy at my roots and dry at my ends. I needed a shampoo that cleanses thoroughly that lifts and doesn’t wear down my hair. After that, I need a conditioner that would hydrate my bleached ends back to life. From there I want what every girl wants, healthy, shiny, frizz-free hair — right?
Living Proof Full Shampoo and Restore Conditioner were my perfect combination. The Full Collection is meant for volume and the Restore line is to revive dry, damaged hair. With a lot of hair brands you generally stick to one collection but with Living Proof it’s great to mix and match to your specific hair needs. The Restore Conditioner instantly smooths my cuticles in the shower and takes it to a level of softness that usually requires a leave-in conditioner to achieve. The Restore line does have a mask in the line that I’ve used in the past that’s amazing, but if you’re hair isn’t completely in the brillo pad phase, the conditioner should be enough to revive it. Without even adding style products the combination makes my hair noticeable more soft and frizz-free within the first wash.
I like to alternate between leaving my hair wavy and flat ironing it (I still have not mastered the art of blowing out my hair) so heat protectants are a must. Their Blowout Styling & Finishing Spray provides heat protection of up to 450 degrees (and you’ll never go above that level of heat with a blow dryer or flat iron so that’s perfect) and you can use it on wet or dry hair. That’s a HUGE perk of this product since sometimes I’ll leave my hair curly and the next day I want to flat iron it. It’s also great for when you want to touch up your hair with a flat iron as the days go on. It’s light enough that you can use it alone or with your styling products without interfering or weighing down your hair.
Living Proof is no stranger to winning a ton of beauty awards for all of their various collections but their Perfect hair Day (PhD) line has been blowing it out of the water. I feel like every award ceremony I’ve attended has had a product from the collection win so I added in two products from the line I’ve been dying to try: the Perfect hair Day (PhD) Dry Shampoo and Perfect hair Day (PhD) 5-in-1 Styling Treatment.
I don’t like to wash my hair more than twice a week, so dry shampoos are staples in my bathroom. The Perfect hair Day (PhD) Dry Shampoo won the Allure Best of Beauty Award this year for Beauty Breakthrough so there was no way I wasn’t adding that to my shopping cart. I’m a huge Dry Shampoo fan and this one soaks up my oils while fluffing up my roots so they come back to life. The formula is a little white for my dark black hair but I’m able to shake it clear and it doesn’t leave a lot of build up or make my hair feel gross by the end of the night.
The Perfect hair Day (PhD) 5-in-1 Styling Treatment has also been a beauty award favorite and one I’ve been meaning to try for a while now. I love a multi-functional styling cream I can use on wet hair, my hair can soak it up without being sticky, heavy or change my texture like a gel or mousse. The 5-in-1 refers to the five benefits it’s designed to deliver: smoothness, volume, conditioning, strength and polish. My hair definitely feels stronger and healthier since using it. And the entire Living Proof experience has made my hair so soft and manageable.
The current routine is Full Shampoo and Restore Conditioner in the shower. Then Perfect hair Day (PhD) 5-in-1 Styling Treatment when I get out (while hair is damp). I then add the Blowout Styling & Finishing Spray if I plan on flat ironing my hair. And then use the Perfect hair Day (PhD) Dry Shampoo in between washes as needed to revive my roots. With this line I can stretch from every 3 days of washing my hair to 4-5 days with it still looking great and freshly washed. What ever is in the Perfect hair Day (PhD) 5-in-1 Styling Treatment that helps extend your style does an incredible job.
I also picked up the Style Lab Travel Kit since it had four other products in the line I’ve been reading about, including the Flex Shaping Hairspray. Did I mention how much I love their sets? I’m excited to review these soon!
Thank you Living Proof and Collectively for partnering with my on this post!
