Inside Barney’s NEW Beauty Floor #BNYBeauty

Barney's New York beauty floorLast night, Barney’s New York  hosted the opening party for the launch of A New Foundation, which marks the newly renovated beauty floor at their Madison Avenue location. Coast to coast customers can now enjoy the new space as the NYC renovation coincides with the relaunch of their Beverly Hills location as well.photo 1Having collaborated with Steven Harris Architects, an award winning architectural design firm, you can expect a completely transformed space, that’s more open and serene. Everything’s white! The new spaces feature a modern and clean aesthetic, with white French plaster walls, display cases inspired by a modern medicine cabinet, white terrazzo tile and soft ambient lighting. Which by the way, the way the light reflects makes you feel like you’ve just entered heaven. Beauty heaven, that is.

photo 2 I mean come on! There isn’t a shortage of things to love about Barney’s, especially if you have deep pockets; and one thing I’ve always appreciate about the luxury retailer is their impeccably curated list of beauty brands. Alongside all the greats from Chanel, Givenchy to NARS, across color, skincare and fragrance, Barney’s is a great space to get introduced to new (or new-to-you) brands.

{Making funny faces at the launch party}Screen Shot 2013-10-09 at 4.34.16 PMThey are exclusively carrying celebrity makeup artist, Troy Surratt’s new makeup line, which has been making quite a buzz in the industry. I briefly played with some of the lipsticks and glosses and they are gorge! The lipsticks have great pigment and I’m not generally one to do a lipgloss over but the versatility of mixing to adapt the color and finish has me changing my mind. There’s also MAKE Cosmetics, which we’ve been featuring for a while now. Previously MAKE has only been available online, so I’m thrilled they have a new home. Additionally, the opening will coincide with the launch of the second designer fragrance collaboration at Barneys New York created by Greg Lauren (yes, as in Ralph Lauren — he’s his nephew), with every bottle hand-embellished by Lauren himself. There’s additional hidden gems both exclusive and otherwise, so I recommend just walking the floor to get fully inspired.

Barneys New York beauty floor In addition to the overall renovation, Barneys New York will introduce exciting super-luxe treatment experiences in both locations. At the Madison Avenue flagship, Barneys New York has collaborated with hair stylist and salon owner Valery Joseph to develop B3 Barneys Blow Bar by Valery Joseph, a full-service blow dry bar with top stylists and seven stations offering blowouts, cuts, extensions, and more. In addition, skincare expert Mila Moursi has partnered with Barneys New York for a Mila Moursi Skincare Institute, offering facials, body treatments, massages and other services. Resident makeup artist Jason Ascher and brow specialist Robert Sweet William will continue to offer their acclaimed services as well.

“The Foundation is incredibly significant to us on many levels,” said Barneys New York Chief Executive Officer Mark Lee. “It’s literally the foundation of our store, but we also know that cosmetics, skincare and fragrance are often the foundations of our customers’ days. These products are the first things they use in the morning. We knew we had to create a destination that lived up to the unique and important role of these products in order to help our customers look and feel their best.”
