For the past month I’ve been indulging in the new La Prairies Skin Caviar Luxe Sleep Mask about twice a week or as my skin has needed some extra hydration. With fall here my skin tends to get more dry and lose some of it’s luster. Either that or the stress of a hectic schedule, too much coffee and not enough sleep play a strong role in my skin not getting all that it needs. Usually my evening routine consists of a makeup remover, face wash and serum as my staples (then depending the regimen I’m trying may expand out from there if needed). I’m usually hesitant to add in a moisturizer since I want my skin to have some time to breath but still want the benefits of giving it a hydrating booster. This mask is the best of both worlds.
With a luxurious experience, you use the applicator brush to apply it all over your face, it goes on like lightweight cream that’s cooling on the surface and unlike most masks you leave it on overnight — no washing off required. I like to apply it 15-30 minutes before bed so I give it adequate time to absorb into my skin before hitting the hay. I’m a stomach sleeper (I know it’s a terrible habit!) so I don’t want my tossing and turning to disrupt the products effect and end up losing any of the formula to my pillow case (I need it more then my pillow does!).
La Prairie’s Skin Caviar Collection has been around since 1987 and one of there most beloved collections to firm lift and smooth skin. Containing encapsulated in tiny “caviar pearls” afloat in a sea of nature’s own replenishers, this cult classic collection welcomes this new addition overnight leave-on treatment formulated to rescue your skin with the concentrated benefits of a mask and restorative benefits of a night cream. My skin wakes up noticeably softer and re-hydrated after use and the benefits we’re obvious from the first application. My glow is restored and my wrinkles look more filled in and less noticeable. The formula contains their signature Caviar Extracts to lift and firm skin, along with Sunflower Seed Oil to replenish skin’s moisture levels. There’s also a natural exfoliation enzyme technology from Carica Papaya mixed in (I’m a big papaya fan for skin!) that is proven to smooth, soften and improve the overall appearance of skin.
The product is definitely an investment as it’s priced at $300, however it offers around 24+ applications and considering it’s like a mini-facial in a bottle it’s easier to justify the price. I’ve been using it for over a month and am so happy to see that I have plenty left to get me through another few months.
The mask is recommended for 1-3 times/week (or as needed) and should be applied direct to a fully cleansed, clean face. Dot a generous dollop on your cheeks, forehead and chin (it can also be applied to your neck and decollete). Then using the accompanying brush, use upward strokes for your forehead, outward strokes over the cheeks and downward strokes on the nose and chin.
