Taking try before you buy to a whole new level, they are giving away FULL-SIZED Hair Food product away this Saturday, October 25th from 11am-5pm at the Hair Food Truck located on Fulton Street & South Elliott Place in Brooklyn. So stop by and join me in trying this new line. Hair Food Care System’s expertly crafted recipes blend naturally-inspired ingredients and fragrances to revitalize your hair.IMG_5277.JPG

Since the line is all about feeding your hair the way you would your body (and they are giving the products away in a food truck) — see a theme? So, to give back, they are collecting non-perishable food items for Reaching Out Communities, Inc. So pay it forward and check your cabinets for any unused cans and perishables and lets make a difference together.

There’s three collections in the Hair Food Care System: Moisture (honey apricot scent), which consists of a shampoo, conditioner and hair mask designed hydrate and soften strands for healthier looking hair; Volume (Kiwi scent), which is comprised of a volume shampoo, conditioner designed to give hair an energizing, bouncy volume, and a leave-on Thickening Hair Treatment that penetrates each strand to strengthen hair; and Cleansing (Strawberry and ginger scent), which offers a cleansing shampoo to remove hair buildup and restore hair’s natural beauty and luster.

Shall we give it a whirl? I’ll be there Saturday to visit the truck and learn more about the line so meet me there or if you have any questions tweet me @prettyconnected and I’ll be happy to ask the experts!

3 Top Trends for Spring {Sponsored}

Over the past few weeks I’ve been sharing some of the biggest trends for spring and how you can get the look at Target. To recap we’ve talked about how to style polka dots, dip dye (aka ombre) and it colors for spring, corals and aqua. Here’s a review as well as a new introduction into my #1 favorite trend of the season… florals!

1. Florals – I have thought of nothing else since Drew Barrymore was on Katie Couric last week in an amazing floral print pant. This is my absolute favorite trend of the season. It’s happy and fun and adds a beautiful pop of color. The trend doesn’t stop at pants, we’re seeing the print on everything from dresses and skirts to jackets and accessories so my advice is to let the flowers shine. Keep the rest of your outfit simple and either do a black, white, or jeans combination with it or pick a non-dominating color from the print and incorporate a solid version of that shade as the matching top or bottom. For example, if you do a flower jacket (as seen below), you can do a light blue shade to pick up the tone from one of the flowers. If you want to add a stronger pop of color, do so in your accessories, makeup or sunnies to bold out the look.

Top 5 Target Sandal Picks for Spring {Sponsored}

Get me to the warm weather! I’m sooooo ready for picnics, bike rides and most of all leaving the house without a heavy, winter coat on. Fortunately if spring in NYC doesn’t come through for me, I have Miami look forward to next week  (Winter Music Festival here I come!). I’m so ready for sun, sand and to embrace spring fashion. And especially long for the temperature to be warm enough to comfortably wear sandals again. As I’m in dire need of a complete sandal makeover (footover?), here are my 5 top sandle must-haves for spring. All items listed are available on Target.com.

Despite this erratic weather pattern we’re having of it’s warm out-it’s snowing-it’s warm out-it’s snowing… come snow or sun this week we ring in spring! So out with the dark and in with the brights. It’s time to introduce shades like aqua, yellow and coral back into our wardrobes and here are some fun ways to do so:

For starters, if you’re not fully ready to embrace color (it is after all snowing out), now is a great time to transition your wardrobe by mixing

Color Me Polka Dots {Sponsored}

As we count down to spring, one trend that always resurfaces around this time is the polka dot. While the classic navy/white, red/white and black/white combination will always be a staple, this season it’s time to take things up a notch and add a splash of color. Some great ways to do that is with a scarf or accessory. Keep the outfit clean and polished, then add a dash of color (yellow is always a fun choice) or bright accessory to make the look pop. What’s so great about adding a polkda dot or bright accent is (as seen below) take out the scarf, accessories and shoes from any of the looks below and you have a very polished, spring look, then add them in and it reinvents it with some added personality and fun. All of these looks we’re created with brands currently available at Target and with looks #2 and #3 I used the same polka dot bracelet and scarf but with a alternate color palette to create a completely different feel and look to the outfit.

Dip Dye is the New Ombre #TargetStyle {Sponsored}

target dip dyeWhether you call it an ombre, gradation or the more technical term when referring to clothing: dip dye, this is one trend that’s hot for spring. Basically, it’s the new color blocking. And from my hair (I’m still in the ombre phase) to my clothes and accessories, this is one fun accent to update your wardrobe with.

I recently stopped by Target (last call for the Prabal Gurung collaboration!), and saw a variety of dip dye items ranging from tops/sweaters (even workout tops!), shorts, bags, and scarves to beach hats.

Instantly gravitating to the Mossimo Dip-Dye Scarf ($14.99) — this is the perfect transition item from winter to spring (and can easily be carried out through fall). It gradates from white to a grayish/green tone to black (which basically describes my color scheme as of late). So until I break out the summer brights, the styling possibilities are endless. Plus the beauty of a dip dye scarf is the look changes based on how you wrap it.
