nars-velvet-lip-gloss-swatches-reviewNARS latest lippie, Velvet Lip Glide is the perfect marriage between a liquid lip and gloss in one. It goes on smooth with great pigment and high shine. The color range features 13 phenomenal shades which ranges from pretty nudes, bright pinks and reds to a range of wines to plums with a brown thrown in.

I assume the “velvet” is more directed to the sheen, since the finish is smooth and not textured like you would see from a matte. It’s great on it’s own and mixes beautifully with lipsticks and other lip products to adjust the shade should you want to or extend the wear. On it’s own it does have some staying power but like most gloss finishes diminishes as you drink, eat… My suggestion though if you want longer stay power is to put a matching lip liner or longwear lipstick under it and then apply on top. It will help keep it put and last longer then a glass of wine (or several). Plus whatever is underneath doesn’t mess with it’s brilliant finish on top, which makes lips look smooth and hydrated.

MAC is always pushing the boundaries of colour and finding new innovation. They aren’t afraid to color outside the lines and for this collection they partnered with tetrachromat (that’s a new vocab word for me too), Maureen Seaberg — who has the genetic ability to see up to 100 million hues imperceptible to the average naked eye. Let me break this down for you — if we as “normal” people see somewhere around the million shade spectrum, she would see 100 million. mac-liptensity-lipstick

Working with Maureen, M·A·C created, Liptensity, an unprecedented spectrum of 24 shades with extreme, undeniable colour intensity, using their new groundbreaking High-Frequency Tetrachromatic Pigments technology.

I highly recommend them. They go on like balms, and have this rich color that lasts. They are designed to be the same color on all skintones, and for me were incredibly true to shade. What you see on the packaging (which I love by the way) is what I got when I swatch it on my hands and on my lips.mac-lipensity-swatches
Left to right these are shades: Galaxy Grey, Lobster and Ambrosial. They are easy to apply, and you don’t have to build them. It’s love at first swipe, packed with gorgeous pigment and they are very lightweight.

Also new from MAC is their Trend Forecast Spring 2017 Collection which features a lip palette, eye palette and two new Studio Eye Gloss shades, Clear as Glass (pictured above), which is like lip gloss for your eyes. They are also introducing the Next Up Neon shade which is a high shine “iodine” yelloworange.

For spring 2017 MAC predicts shades of pale pink to deep berry, which I’m all for. It’s a beautiful, very wearable range of lippies. They go on like a gloss meets lipstick, a pretty stain to each shade that isn’t intense but still carries it’s shade.

The cream eye shadow palette I have to play around with more. It’s a whole spectrum of colors from soft cinnamon, pink to bright green, eggplant and denim blue.

it-cosmetics-sephora-exclusives

It’s happening! This month we no longer have to look to QVC or find a far away Ulta Cosmetics (I live in NYC, they are sparse) to buy It Cosmetics! The rockstar skincare makeup brand which is by the way amazing for sensitive and problematic skin is officially launching at Sephora and Sephora.com this month. And with it comes a handful of exclusive and new products, mostly from the Bye Bye collection that you should be on the lookout for!

Before I give you the 411, I want to highlight that I’m loving this whole color-infused skincare ideology. It’s something I’ve been noticing more of in the beauty industry where brands are approaching makeup from a skincare angle. The three products we see this the most in from the new It Cosmetics launches is the Bye Bye Under Eye Illumination, Je Ne Sais Quoi Lip Treatment and Anti-Aging Armour SPF 50+, which I talk more about below. For anyone not familiar with It Cosmetics they work with dermatologists and plastic surgeons on their formulas and as I mentioned before are ideal for everyone from problematic to perfect skin. Surfs up with Clif Bar

Last week was a long week. I went from Fashion Week to hosting a charity event on Friday to jumping in my car and driving to Montauk for an awesome, action packed weekend with Clif Bar. Before I get into my awesome weekend (and believe me, it was awesome), my friend Liz asked me a question on Friday I’ve been thinking about all week, “How do I get your energy”.

In my mind she takes on more than me so I found the question funny. Although I’m asked it often enough that I should have a reasonable answer.  In truth I’ve always thought of myself as leading a double life. I’m very active in the fashion/beauty blogging community and often at events but on my spare time all I want to do is travel and be outside, whether it be hiking, snowboarding or something as simple as going for a walk. My boyfriends even slowly turning me into a camper, which we do often enough that I can probably claim that title. I’m a really active person and it’s not easy with my schedule. I accidentally skip meals all the time but I’m very keen on keeping my energy up since I do need to stay focused.
