A few weeks back I had the pleasure of having lunch with one of the industies best, Terry de Gunzburg, founder of By Terry for the launch of her new Rouge-Expert Click Stick. A click lipstick is so appropriate considering Terry is the click queen — she’s the one that developed the YSL’s iconic Touche Eclat in 1992 before starting her own line. The tear drop like shape of these lipsticks creates a hybrid three-in-one wonder product for your lips. It lines flawlessly the way you would with a lip liner, wears comfortably with a cream-like formula that isn’t to heavy with lipstick comfort and completely nourishes with balm-like conditioning. Click it about ten times to release the color and then click up every time you need more product. This collection includes 25 cult-worthy shades range from bright to barely there, nudes to darks.
This week I did nothing but pack and try to get ready for the 4 trips I have coming up, starting with Lisbon on Monday! I did such a good job packing and getting all the forms — and multiple vet, office, airport visits — to bring Charlie with me (it just costs as much as a human ticket in certifications and fees and two days of your time but no biggie) that I decided to reward myself with taking the morning off from adulting to join Disney and ahem, costume designer, Colleen Atwood for a tea party in celebration of Alice Through the Looking Glass, which comes out on DVD and Blu-Ray this Tuesday, October 18th. I brought my sister and Charlie since we’re all huge Alice fans, and had a blast in the photobooth — Charlie steals the show as the Cheshire Cat.
With my fellow New Beauty Tastemakers, Danielle Gray and Milly Almodovar
Earlier this month, I was really honored to join New Beauty Magazine for their Tastemaker event, as one of their tastemakers! Hosted at the New Beauty offices in Rockefeller Center, it was basically speed dating, with beauty brands — my kind of dating! Each tastemaker had their own table and then brands would rotate visiting me (on a timer) and tell me about their companies and new product launches. There were so many cool indie beauty brand, many of which I worked with in the past so it was exciting to catch up with the founders and hear about the progress their brands had made. While there wasn’t time to meet with every brand in attendance, here were some of my favorites and brands you should have on your radar:
Grande Cosmetics
Grande Cosmetics also has a special place in my heart. I discovered them when I was judging the ICMAD awards a few years ago and they blew it out of the water! Their liquid liner won my vote for the category because it was by far the best product choice in the category. EVERYTHING I’ve used from the brand since has blown me away, I love their GrandBROW-FIll! Their latest addition is a Grande Lips, a collection of lip plumpers available in clear and six additional colors, including my dream pink! It’s the best plumper I’ve used yet, it tingles and plumps and they offer a great shade range. This is a brand to have on your radar! Check it out at sephora.com
Dermarche Labs
Dermarche Labs has a variety of products including Roloxin Lift, which funny enough I was at the launch of this event in 2014! It also won the Allure best of beauty award that year. It’s the perfect mask for when you need to rebook skin since it instantly lifts, hydrates and reduces the appearance of wrinkles and pores. How it works is you activate the formula by massaging the sachet in your hands for 20 seconds, then cleanse and lightly dampen your skin and apply the formula to your face for 7-10 minute or until it dries. Then rinse it off and apply your moisturizer or continue with your regular beauty routine — your skin will feel instantly more even, and your skin will be so soft and glowing! I also learned about two new products Fullfill, which is a big dose of Hyaluronic Acid which is a plumper and wrinkle filler. As well as Biorewind which is two part serum — an AM Full-Spectrum Antioxidant Serum and PM Pro-Grade Retinoid Repairing serum.
LiftLab Skincare
Another really cool brand which is basically from my hometown in Massachusetts. I first learned about Lift Lab from Caravan Stylist Studio when they gave me a sample of their face wash. It was phenomenal. It was
It’s been a lot of change recently. Between going blonde and finding out I’m nearsighted — which I have LensCrafters to thanks for! It’s been a really fun week of playing dress up. If you missed my post on my eye process, check it out HERE. They made the whole process digital so all you do is look in a machine and then the Ophthalmologist shows you a scan of your eye and tells you things like you’re nearsighted! In all honesty, I’m getting a little carried away. I don’t have to wear them fro walks, they are mostly for reading and my endless hours in front of the computer writing. Something I’m actually trying to cut down on a bit.
It’s been a lot recently so I’m embracing fall and planning some trips. I’m more creative when I get away and am heading to Lisbon on Monday! NYC will always have my heart, but it’s been a lot of running around recently. Fall is one of my favorite seasons though. Leaves in the air, autumn colors… I love this Corduroy Skirt skirt I got during fashion week and my Henri Bendel Soho Backpack. I feel like I’m back in the 90’s getting ready for school. A black turtleneck is a staple but I’ve been having trouble replacing a Marni one I had for 6+ years (it needed to be retired last year) and had some luck with this Lafayette 148 Wool Turtleneck Sweater. I’m working on building my fall staples. I’ve also been wearing my Kyboe! watch non-stop. I just booked my flight to Miami for Art Basel which is where I discovered the brand; now every time I wear it I think of warmer days to come. Lastly Maxus came out with the perfect fall wine nail polish shade as part of their Empower Collection, it’s called Respectedand it has a gel like finish.
