Busting Beauty Myths with Kelly Rutherford and Dr. Lily Talakoub

Yesterday, I headed downtown for a discussion with Dr. Lily Talakoub and actress, Kelly Rutherford as we examined some of the most popular beauty rumors in search of answers.

Kelly Rutherford was our questioner and hilarious host (looking all amazing and svelt in her Valentino dress and Louboutins) and Dr. Lily Talakoub of Mclean Dermatology Center was our myth buster.

So here we go… TRUE or FALSE?

1. Running for 15minutes with a garbage bag on will make you 5lbs thinnerFALSE.

We checked. There was a volunteer who stepped on a scale, then ran 15 min and then stepped back on the scale– she gained a pound. Myth busted!

Funny enough, I’ve heard this rumor but in the rendition I’m used to it’s garbage barrels (not bags) that shed those pounds.

LAGOS celebrates 35 years of fabulous jewelry with Pamela Pekerman

Celebrating 35 years of design and the launch of their Fall Winter 21012 collection, LAGOS Jewelry held an intimate soiree hosted by our good friend Pamela Pekerman. With the walls lined with illustrations and iconic pieces from the brands history, the jewelry line displayed their latest collections for guests to enjoy.

And enjoy I did. Put me in a room with fabulous jewelry, and I can’t help but play! Just look at the clasp on these earrings (pictured below). The lovely Jene Luciani and I got all Lag0s-ed up and snapped a few shots.

My image doesn’t do this collection justice (so I had to include a shot of the original design and close up as well).  The completely glamorous MUSE collection offers big, bold pieces in blue sapphire

Celebrating National Relaxation Day with Tommy Bahama (and upcoming NYC store launch)

Last night was an epically amazing evening filled with laughter, drinks and baseball – yup, I’m talking about National Relaxation Day with Tommy Bahama

Known for their relaxed, ‘island life’ style, the fashion brand brought their persona to life by treating us editors to an evening at Yankee Stadium. They had us so relaxed  at the upstairs bar suite, sipping our Bronx bomer beverages (featuring Tommy Bahama Rum), that I hardly noticed the rain delay was nearly 2 hours.

Then it was game on Yankees vs. Rangers and onto our box we went. In all my times at Yankee stadium, this was my first box experience, and it was awesome! I guess it’s Madison Sq. Garden that has me tainted since up until now I associate boxes with big plexi glass and being so far back you feel removed from the game – so not the case at Yankee Stadium. We had great views, no glass barriers, a stocked bar, and full on catering.

{Game on!}

While I’m not a Yankees fan (or Rangers fan for that matter) I did get a little glossy eyed when I ended up in the elevator with Brian Cashman — who was beaming over the Yankees win — and may or may not ended that ride by initiating some high-fives. (I’m the worst red sox fan on the planet.)

National Relaxation Day was just the beginning!  Launching in November, Tommy Bahama will premiere their first New York City Flagship store with what they call “Manhattan Island”. We’re talking in addition to a retail store carrying their apparel, footwear, accessories and homegoods collection; they will be opening a restaurant and bar. (It’s going to be massive!) The flagship will celebrate their “Life is One Long Weekend” philosophy which I fully support.

UrbanDaddy and Samsung Mobile host a “Picture Perfect Evening”

Last night, UrbanDaddy and Samsung Mobile hosted a “Picture Perfect Evening” at Gallow Green, the rooftop of the McKittrick Hotel. First off, for someone who almost didn’t make it  or know what to expect out of a Picture Perfect evening, I’d say UrbanDaddy and Samsung Mobile nailed it!

Gorgeous rooftop — I’d been to the McKittrick Hotel for Sleep No More — but never the rooftop bar, Gallow Green.

Exceptional jazz band to add to the ambiance…
