Well this is unexpected. After a highly suspenseful speech for the official unveiling of the global celebrity spokes person of Sexy Hair (from the description our money was on Katy Perry or Dita Von Teese), it turned out to be Marilyn Monroe. And not that she doesn’t embody the essence of Sexy Hair, but you know, she didn’t actually use the product considering it was decades after her passing that the brand even came into existence. And while it’s definitely weird she’s the new spokesperson, I’m willing to be imaginative enough that if she was actually still with us (and could speak for herself) this would be the brand on her vanity. After all, in the words of Marilyn herself,
And the celebrity spokesperson for Sexy Hair is…
Victoria’s Secret Launches NEW Fragrance Victoria with Angel Behati Prinsloo
Last week, I joined Victoria’s Secret Angel, Behati Prinsloo and Victoria’s Secret Beauty President Susie Coulter at 620 Loft and Garden in Rockefeller Center for the launch of the brands new iconic fragrance, Victoria by Victoria’s Secret. While Prinsloo has been a VS Angel for some time this is her biggest campaign with the brand as the face of the fragrance. And she could not be more excited! As she took the stage in front of an audience of editors and bloggers, practically in tears (of joy that is), she expressed her gratitude to the brand, claiming this the best day of her life. And it’s easy to understand why. Coulter praised her for having all of the traits that embody this fragrance, which made her the natural choice for the campaign. The event also came mere days after she was proposed to by Maroon 5 front man and coach of “The Voice”, Adam Levine. Proving to be an exceptional week for the super model.
After the presentation I had some time with Angel who told me, “They came to me and told me the concept and I was really just so honored to be asked to be apart of it. I didn’t smell it until after we did the pictures, and I smelled it and I was like ‘thank the lord!’, it’s great! It’s like me, it’s subtle, it’s beautiful, it’s feminine, but it’s also got a little bit of an edge to it without being too over the top or too sweet.”
Denim Weekend with Express + StyleCaster #EXPDENIMLAB
The heat wave finally broke and it could not have been a more gorgeous weekend to be in the Hamptons and head back to StyleCaster’s Summer Haven for the #EXPDENIMLAB Party. Hosted by Express, the clothing brand decked out the home in a denim bar featuring a medley of jean styles from skinny to leggings, mini shorts, denim vests, jackets, and tops. Shoes, jewelry and accessory items were also on display. The full on pool party sponsored by Patron and Perrier, had guests shopping to the tunes of Paul Sevigny who DJ’d the event. My homegirl, Jenni from ISpyDIY also set up a distress station where guests could customize their denim. Which, needless to say was where I could be found taking an x-acto blade to my new jean shorts!
#Twinsies! Both Lindsey from Saucy Glossie and I opted for Express’ faux leather black tank matched opposite some skinny jeans and black heels. I’m head to toe in some of my favorite Express’ new items for fall.
Get the Look: Miami Fashion Week Swim with COVERGIRL
The great part about following Miami Fashion Week for Swim is even though we’re talking about collections launching in 2014, the beauty looks are both achievable and relevant now. No surprise the big trend from Mara Hoffman to VIX Paula Hermanny to all over the runway was bronzed, luminous, pretty skin with eyes that are anything from dramatic and smokey to just a simple black pencil with light shimmer opposite big lashes and a nude lip. Then for the cheeks we’re seeing either a more white highlighted shimmer or a warmer tone blush to make cheek bones pop.
COVERGIRL recently launched a whole slew of new products including their Flamed Out collection which includes a high volume Flamed Out Mascara, that offers full impact, high volume lashes (there’s also a water-resistant version available), Shadow Pencils, which are great alone as a liner or can be blended to highlight, brighten, add a pop of color as a shadow, and the Shadow Pots which easily blend and are offered in a full range of 12 different powder shades that glitter and sparkly for a pretty highlighted effect.
Working with COVERGIRL and the GLAM Network to recreate one of the popular trends, I opted for a very wearable day look really bringing out the sun kissed, glowing skin which I think never goes out of style opposite a highlighted cheek bone and softer lip.
