There’s a lot to look forward to this spring with Forever 21’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection –or rather 4 collections. There’s ‘The Tea Room’ which is a collection comprised of kimono sleeves, large floral prints, flowy/relaxed materials and elements of sheer and chiffon; ‘Rebel Yell’ which focuses around grunge, fringe, graphic tees, distressed denim, studs, American flags and large open knit sweaters; ‘Retro Revival’ which has a 20’s/30’s beach chic influence, bold prints, tailored pieces, stripes and polka dots; and lastly, ‘Sixties Sorbet’ which follows the 60’s shapes and silhouettes, pastel colors and lace. And if all of that isn’t exciting enough, check out the accessories!
Josie Natori Open First Ready-To-Wear Boutique at Saks!
Josie Natori (as in the woman behind Natori lingerie) has launched her first ready-to-wear boutique at Saks Fifth Avenue on their newly renovated fourth floor.
Launching with her Resort 2011 collection, the line is an embodiment of the art of the Geisha and spirit of the Samurai, with silhouettes that resemble reworked traditional kimonos and origami-like shapes. Inspired by women, Josie wanted to create a timeless collection (whether it be worn today or years from now), which moved effortlessly from day to night and could be layered up or down to compliment our busy lives. A mix of great basics, prints and fabrications, I’m smitten with the red jacket (pictured left on Josie Natori)… so much that I actually borrowed it for a picture with the designer.
Which of course as soon as she took the jacket off, I was all about the black dress she had under it (I’m like that mouse in If You Give A Mouse a Cookie). I love the pointed sleeves on it! Some other favorites from the collection includes:
This necklace blows my mind! It’s so editorial (I wish I could pull it off!).
If you haven’t been to the 4th floor at Saks post-renovation, definitely check it out! It’s beautiful and so much more shopable, housing the likes of brands including Ralph Lauren, Tahari, Burberry, Tory Burch, and now Josie Natori!

Lisa Hoffman Launches Fragrance Jewelry Collection
Today, Lisa Hoffman is launching her new line of fragrances including a jewelery collection! Branching off of her ‘wear fragrance your way‘ motto, Lisa Hoffman created 5 base fragrances, Madagascar Orchid, French Clary Sage, Tunisian Neroli, Tuscan Fig and Japanese Agarwood and from there created 4 fragrances under each collection base for morning, daytime, evening and bedtime (and are sold as a set). Additionally, she’s created a body care line, candles and what I’m most excited for… fragrance jewelry based off these fragrances.
Unlike other brands in this category we’re not talking solid perfume rings and necklaces, but charms filled with fragrance beads. Launching with the fragrance bead bracelet (today!), in the coming months we have the earrings and pendant to look forward to (and I can’t wait, I need that necklace!).
The benefit of the fragrance beads (made of wood) is you can mix and match based on your scent preference, and they are refillable. Plus their safe for individuals with sensitive skin or allergic to perfume.
The Fragrance Jewelry collection features a proprietary delivery system that slowly releases perfume as they are exposed to air and offers a stylish, whimsical new way to personalize your scent, and look. And they are beautiful! Modeled after a pair of Victorian-era earrings Lisa was given by her husband (ahem, actor Dustin Hoffman), the story goes that during that time it was considered gauche to wear diamonds during the day; so jewelers made pieces with snap-off “fronts” on them, that could cover the jewels until the evening when when they could be removed. This concept inspired both the silhouette and the functionality of the filigreed charm. Plated with antiqued sterling silver and bronze, 14-karat gold and rose gold (depending on the scent held within), they each come with a pack of fragrance beads to be refilled every 1-2 weeks (depending on how much exposure to air).
Filled, mixed, or otherwise empty, it’s an extraordinary design and an amazing accessory. Not sure your scent preferences? Visit their website and take their diagnostic test, known as the iSecntify fragrance finder to help you find your scent.

Hosted at the Highline Stages, they previewed the whole collection and transformed the space into a canvas (how clever!) and allowed guests to paint on the designated wall, while The Wandas took to the stage in the background.

Lucky Shops 2011 VIP Night Recap
What an exciting weekend! Friday night I was one of the featured bloggers for Lucky Magazine’s Lucky Shops VIP event (you may have noticed me tweeting up a storm). I partnered with the publication to serve on their blogger committee which was nothing short of fabulous; I was so honored to be working with them.
The VIP event kicked off the annual Lucky Shops, which is 3-day shopping event, where dozens of our favorite designers sell their merchandise at up to 70%! It’s a fashionista’s dream, which NYC is not short on; so needless to say, it was packed.
My fellow committee members included (check out their awesome blogs!): New York Girl Style, Miss Whoever You Are, My Style Pill, The Beauty File, Cheetah is the new Black, Nubia’s Nonsense, Audrey Allure, Honestly WTF, Cheap Chicas, Platinum Blonde Life, Style Cusp, Glamazone Diaries and of course myself, Pretty Connected.
I met the glam team at Bloom Beauty Lounge to start the night out right with some blow-outs and styling. I went with my signature blowout with a some added curls and volume (I call it the Victoria’s Secret model blow-out) to compliment my awesome outfit [Shirt/Shorts/Boots: Nicole Miller; Tights: Joe Fresh; Necklace: Banana Republic; Belt: The Limited]. Once our hair was red-carpet ready, that’s just where we headed — to the red carpet where we joined the likes of Bridget Moynahan, Kaylee DeFer, Iman, Susan Lucci, Rachel Roy, Katina Bowden, and Erika Dasher to have our pictures taken and have exclusive coverage opportunities. Then on to go shopping!
I invited a few friends at the event and we bee-lined it to Rebecca Minkoff, and all walked away with a new purses. We circled the ground floor and then made our way upstairs to the Hunter Dixon booth. I’m new to their designs but am keeping them on my radar since I wanted everything in their booth! After settling on a pair of pants and skirt (my dates bought up just dresses and tops), it was time to move on. Two Lucky Shop shopping bags full later, I was cut off.
We then headed to the Lucky Shops after-party at the Crosby hotel for a private advanced screening of Jane by Design starring Erica Dasher, Andie MacDowell and a whole lotta good looking men. As someone who probably doesn’t watch enough television, let alone ABC Family, I found it entertaining and fun without being cheesy (as I find most shows geared towards teenagers to be). If follows unpopular (although very fashion forward) high school student, Jane (Erica Dasher) as she applies for a fashion internship and instead mistaken for an adult, accidentally lands a part-time job. For the love of fashion, I’m sure this show will suck me right in — although it doesn’t premiere until January 23rd, so you’ll just have to wait to see what I’m talking about.
Thank you Lucky Magazine for a great night and the amazing opportunity to work together!
