If you’re like me and you watched Grease on repeat growing up or if you’ve always admired the glory that is 50s fashion, then I hope Julie Mollo is on your fashion radar. Friday marked the official launch of Julie’s 2012/2013 collection and her collaboration with BodyRock Sport and I must say, after her launch party I fell in love with the 50s all over again. Inspired by the shapes and quirkiness of the era, Julie believes that people should have fun getting dressed every morning. With outfits like hers it’s easy to see why…

H&M to Collaborate with MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA

Le sigh! H&M‘s next big designer collaboration has been announced and it’s with French fashion house, MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA!! Do you have any idea what a big Margiela fan I am?  If I could afford them at retail, my closet would be lined, so hooray for this since at H&M collaborative prices I can (please let the collection be cute, please let the fits be on point).

BCBGMAXAZRIAGROUP’s Resort 2013 Preview: Herve Leger, BCBG RTW, Manoukian +more

Welcome my lovely new writer, Naomi! A self professed fashion fanatic and transplant from Chicago to NYC. She’ll be helping me cover some of my events since I can’t be in 12 places at once (although I try). This is Naomi’s first post with many more to come!

BCBGMAXAZRIA is a brand that has been on my fashion radar since I first became interested in the industry. You can imagine, then, my excitement when Lara gave me the opportunity to sub in for her and preview the brand’s Resort 2013 collection. Here’s a bit of an overview of my experience with the six labels that fall under BCBGMAXAZRIAGROUP‘s which includes BCBGeneration, Max and Cleo, Manoukian, BCBG Resort Runway, BCBG RTW, and Hervé Léger (listed below in ascending order by price point):

1. BCBGeneration: This collection is fun and flirty. Lace and cutouts are notable characteristics of Generation, as well as the mix and matching of prints. Generation is broadening their denim assortment to have more color, tie-die, and dipped looks as well. It’s a great collection for the fashionable folk who are more price-cautious or might not be able to afford the haut-est of haut couture like myself. Price point for this collection falls under $200.

2. Max and Cleo: Geared towards the 20s/30s age group, the Max and Cleo collection has a dress for every occasion. From your colorful daytime dress to your nighttime cocktail dress, this is the collection to turn to if you like a youthful yet classy look. Price point under $200.

3. Manoukian: The newest brand within the BCBGMAXAZRIAGROUP, Manoukian originated in Europe, but is gracing the US starting in September at Lord & Taylor! Known as the “Ann Taylor” of Europe, the Manoukian is classy and conservative, while still fashionable, making it the perfect collection for the modest working girl. Price point ranges from $100-$300.

4. BCBG Resort Runway: The Resort runway collection was inspired by the woman who is adventurous and ready to explore exotic places. This woman is embodied in the fun prints and awesome pops of color that are intermingled with the patterns. The price point of this collection can be upwards of $500.

5. BCBG Ready to Wear: The RTW line mimics the Resort Runway collection in that neon pops of color that are scattered throughout. Fun prints in a variety of silhouettes make for great statement pieces. (The Price point of RTW mimics the runway as well…).

Jockey Fall Preview: Comfort at It’s Finest

Jockey is one of those brands I associate with comfort and possibly cotton underwear — and maybe tshirts (especially for men); however after attending a recent fashion show of the latest fall collection, they have a much larger collection (for both men and woman) then I realized. For starters, I stand by them being a comfort brand. Everything that went down the runway was perfect loungewear for around the house, except for their activewear collection suited for the gym. For fall expect an expansion of intimates in a variety of prints and solids and mix of cuts. Most of the underwear collection comes in a variety of silhouettes including thong, bikini, Hi Cut, hipster, and boyshorts.

2012 CFDA Award Winners

I don’t know about you, but last night I was glued to instagram, checking out designer’s feeds from the CFDA awards and awwing over all of their amazing outfits! Disregarding the Met Ball from the running, the CFDA awards is the Oscars of fashion; so it’s really a red carpet ringer for designers and guests alike to bring it considering they’re entering a room of some of the most creative and iconic minds of the industry… ahhh! One day I’ll make it inside.

The award ceremony was held at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center and hosted by Seth Meyers. The award celebrates the best of American fashion and while it’s an honor to be nominate (no really, it is!), to win is some serious designer credit.

Fitness Magazine Hosts Meet & Tweet #FitBlogNYC

Holding down the fort while I was away… Stylist/blogger, Tiffany Piñero, helped cover some of my events on my behalf and attended Fitness Magazine’s Blogger Meet & Tweet. Thank you Tiffany!

While the Lovely Lara was making us all jealous in Europe, I had the pleasure of keeping her Pretty Connected connections in tact in NYC. #FitBlogNYC was a first Meet & Tweet event sponsored by Fitness Magazine introducing fitness, health and wellness bloggers to not only to each other but also to the many brands that fuel the industry. Alongside all the amazing swag being given away and the many new products being introduced, there was an all day agenda of eye opening topics including a pop up fitness session by Kiwi Fitness. It was a crazy sweat session with a workout they call Tabura which is a mix of African dancing and kick boxing, umm yes, out of control.

It was great visiting with the girls from Reebok, who gave us an awesome pair of Real Flex sneakers and socks that will rock your world. Really, the socks are my obsession, so comfortable and they wick away sweat like no other.

Meeting up with Oakley was fun they let us try out their new line of sunglasses which is a total fashion meets function moment of super stylish frames equipped with sport technology to keep them from slipping while running. Talk about a win/win.

Everyone who attended was given a gorgeous Sonia Kashuk gym bag full of amazingness. The bag itself was great, but also loaded with products that I completely fell in love with like the Fiber One Brownie bars! {quite possibly my new favorite thing}, Blow Pro dry shampoo {a god send!}, Schick Hydro Silk razor, a must have for summer — keeps you smooth for so much longer, and Vichy skin firming lotion are a few of the great products that have me transitioning into my sweet summer style effortlessly. Fitness Magazine put together an amazing event that had the twittersphere going wild, connecting our followers with brands and connecting us with what’s next. This day was so fun and such a success. I look forward to the next one!

A Beautiful Weekend for the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic

Corks off to Veuve Clicquot for hosting an exceptional weekend of beautiful people, glamorous hats, exceptional champagne and of course polo.

Friday night, VC president, Jean-Marc Lacave and VC US president, Vanessa Kay hosted a kick-off party to celebrate the 5th Annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic on top of The Standard Hotel at Le Bain. I celebrated with a few friends, toasting the night away; getting lost in the live band and playing with the exceptional array of Veuve Clicquot merchandise floating around the room (I somehow ended up with a VC hat, cigars, a fan and sunglasses!). The event all-star, polo extraordinaire, Nacho Figueras was casually walking the room, taking pictures and looking as virile in person as he does in his Ralph Lauren ads.

Then Saturday came, THE BIG DAY — the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic. My group packed a picnic and headed downtown to catch the ferry to Liberty State Park where the festivities were taking place. What a dapper audience getting on board the boat, sporting an exceptional array of hats. I could written a blog post alone on the variety of exceptionally unique chapeau’s I spotted.

After lounging on the grass we headed to the VIP section where the champagne was pouring and strawberries we’re being passed out, while a decadent buffet was on display for guests to enjoy. After 4 hours of sun and champagne, the Nespresso bar was literally saving my life and keeping me awake. All that was missing was a charging station — my phone died! Which was fine since it was great to just be present for such a wonderful event, without fighting the urge to instagram and tweet everything in site (as I did the 3 hours prior). Notable guests in the room included Clive Owen, Rachel Zoe, Leslie Bibb, Padma Lakshmi, Zoe Saldana, Jason Wu, Tiffani Thiessen, Dree Hemingway, Poppy Minka Kelly, Hilary Rhoda, Alek Wek, Coco Rocha, Jessica Stam, Olivia Palermo, Poppy Delevigne, DJ Mia Moretti and Caitlin Moe. I had to cut the day a little short as I had a flight to catch to LA, otherwise, I wanted the day to never end!
