NYFW: Saudner Spring/Summer 2014 Presentation

Saunder Spring/Summer 2015 collectionSaunder‘s spring collection is inspired the song “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida” by Iron Butterfly. She worked around the concept of a rock-and-roll Garden of Eden. The collection featured bright florals and ladylike fabrics combined with edgy details and saucy prints. Her rocker Eves dainty dresses were offset by structured moto jackets, sequined booties, and dresses and jewelry featuring a prescription pill motif. Neons colors and borrowed-from-the-boys silhouettes also brought an edge to her spring line. Beehive-inspired hair and bright, pouty makeup wraps the whole presentation up in a 1960s vibe.

For me fashion week kicked off two weeks ago with an invitation to attend fitness brand, Athleta’s debut fashion show titles a Crush of Adrenaline. Dressing the part, I geared up in my sporty blues in what was easily the most comfortable ensemble I’ve ever worn to a show (more outfit pics on my other blog, inhisclothes.com).

NYFW: Dannijo S/S 2015 Road Trip Collection

Dannijo s/s 2015

Yesterday, we kicked off New York Fashion Week with the Dannijo Spring/Summer 2015 Collection. While we’re used to a beautiful glitzy jewel assortment from the two sisters Danielle Snyder and her sister Jodie Snyder, this collection was much more tribal with a native american influence in the decor.

NYFW: MAC + Fekkai Deliver Sexy at Sophie Theallet

MAC cosmetics at Sophie Theallet FW 14

Sophie Theallet’s Fall 2014 collection had the freedom of a wreck-less weekend survived by a pack of fabulous French girls with a beauty look to match. The power house of Frédéric Fekkai on hair and Tom Pecheux giving good face for MAC Cosmetics (products used listed in the below image), was enough to make those interviewing backstage have a fan girl moment.

Have you met my friend Bianca? She’s the editorial director at Glam.com, and people think, I’m everywhere, well I’ve got nothing on her! (Although in all fairness I did see her pretty much everyday during New York Fashion Week).

NYFW: A Beauty Like Nun Other – Backstage at Thom Browne Fall/Winter 2014

Thom Browne Nun look

If there’s one thing we can count on from Thom Browne, it’s a lot of drama and originality and this show was no exception.  The collection was a visual hymn of Victorian-inspired garments imparted with exaggerated proportions and more delicately concealed details than the walls of a confessional.  Inspired by a darker, wicked woman of the church, the hair and make-up production backstage was much more than a sisterly act.
