For me fashion week kicked off two weeks ago with an invitation to attend fitness brand, Athleta’s debut fashion show titles a Crush of Adrenaline. Dressing the part, I geared up in my sporty blues in what was easily the most comfortable ensemble I’ve ever worn to a show (more outfit pics on my other blog, inhisclothes.com).

Alterna products backstage at Athleta

Starting backstage, the hair scene was out of an Equinox advertisement, with girls rocking anything from a messy (but oh so chic) braid to ponytails, top knots/buns to their hair just plain down. The looks, created by Nate Rosenkranz for Alterna Haircare were as unique as the models themselves — all athletes ranging from ballet dancers to runners and everything in between. The consistent factor was the great texture in all of the looks and the 3 rockstar Alterna hair products that we’re staples: The Alterna Bamboo Volume Weightless Whipped Mousse, which was used as a base, Alterna Caviar Perfect Texture Finishing Spray (which is like a hybrid between hairspray and dry shampoo and the Alterna Caviar Omega + Nourishing Oil which was used to tame down frizz and add a light shine.

Temptu makeup at Athleta fashion show

For the makeup, key artist, Talia Shobrook, for Temptu channeled the strong, sporty woman with a high fashion edge, using a feminine yet powerful palette of colors to showcase the edgy performance. “The look was a strong woman – someone who isn’t scared to show too much skin”, Talia explained. “For me, it’s a new thing – I’m calling it ‘Flawless Fun’. Fitness is such a huge part of our lives today, and flawless, healthy looking skin is always the look I strive for. Even with a bold pop of color, the focus is always on a flawless complexion that exudes health”.

The runway prep began with an application of Temptu’s Base & Matte Primer to the surface of the skin blending outward. Followed by spraying the AIRpod Foundation in the models perfect shade. Talia used two light layers to achieve the flawless complexion with a vibrant, dewy finish. Then to brighten and highlight she used the AIRpod Highlighter in Champagne, applying in a circular motion around the “C” contour of the eye area, sweeping up the hairline towards the temple.  It was also applied to the inner corner of the eye for a pop of brightness. Next the apples of the cheeks were sprayed with the AIRpod Blush in Soft Peach in a sweeping circular motion towards the hairline. For the lips,  AIRpod Blush in Clementine, was used for an impactful pop of color. To finish the look, Talia applied a sheer dusting of Invisible Difference Power in Shade One to the surface of the skin.

For an added touch of fun, Talia used S/B Hi-Def in Yellow and Blue on alternating models for a winged cat-eye look that was both bold with just the right amount of playfulness.

The show then began with so much more energy and movement then from any show I’ve ever been to. In fact I would call more of a dance performance then fashion show. Strong confident women took the stage showing off the clothes versatility as well as theirs. From break dancers to acrobats, we saw such a mix of movement and performance.

The line is created for that athletic woman that very active and looking for a versatile product that can keep up with her lifestyle. There’s a big trend right now that falls where fashion meet fitness, performance fabrics that can take you for a weekend trip to a yoga retreat, from the gym straight to brunch.

The fashion show, dance, performance — whatever you want to call it was incredible. A Crush of Adrenaline was a perfect what to categorize it. It made me want to move and be strong, fit and just love my body the way these girls did. Their confidence and energy was electric. Check out my pictures below of the collection (I also put up a pretty cool instagram video of one of the athletes running through the air — click HERE) and to see the behind-the-scenes footage check out this video:
