For over 20 years, the Klorane Institute has been committed to share its botanical passion by focusing on three missions: protecting plant species, exploring the plant world’s treasures around the world in order to increase knowledge and best protect them and educating the world with botanical knowledge, with a particular focus on children. The Klorane Institute has heightened its involvement as an agent of change by becoming a founding partner of UNESCO GREEN CITIZENS and invited us to the UN to to experience their latest project.
Since 2005, UNESCO has been recognized globally as the lead agency for Education for Sustainable Development and coordinates the implementation of the Global Action Programme on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), as the official follow-up to the United Nations Decade of ESD. Education for Sustainable Development empowers learners to take informed decisions and responsible actions for environmental integrity, economic viability and a just society, for present and future generations, while respecting cultural diversity.
Furthering these goals, the Klorane Institute and Sipa Press have joined forces to select eight projects shown at unique photography exhibit, UNESCO GREEN CITIZENS: PATHFINDERS FOR CHANGE at the United Nations. This special exhibit showcases the achievements of “pathfinders for change” from around the globe, men and women that give life to projects engaging education to inspire and encourage sustainable development. This traveling exhibition will be presented at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, from through April 17th.
